    The reality is that a Delta 757 & 767 are still much more pleasant than brand new aircraft at other carriers. Delta has done an amazing job with product consistency among its mainline fleet (with the exception of the 717).

      Yep they positioned themselves as a premium airline. However, those 767's do need to go soon. The product and interior is way outdated.

    They're great aircrafts. I've flown on the 757 many times and it never gets old. They're fast down the runway. And the 767 is very sharp as well. It feels very heavy all the while accelerates down the runway nicely.

    Hands down the best aircraft ever built is the 757 and Boeing has made a critical mistake not replacing it. Allowing Airbus to take over the narrow body market with the 320FAM has proven to be one of the greatest business blunders of the modern era. Boeing could have saved itself tons of problems by investing in the 757 and retiring the 737. It will be a sad day when the final 757 leaves the Delta fleet!

      @andys4132 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johniii8147 Yeah, don't get me wrong the 717 is a neat aircraft but the cargo bins are long and low requiring the agent loading to crouch and try to lift bags, but because its long you often need two people in the bin, or the one person has to kinda scuttle back and forth dragging bags along. And with the metal floor when it gets wet it often gets slippery.

    It’s cool to see that Delta is staying loyal to Boeing narrow bodies, replacing the 757’s with 737-MAX’s. Their new Boeing orders along with their already existing Airbus fleet definitely gives them to most diverse American fleet.

    • @johniii8147
      @johniii8147 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Has nothing to do with "staying loyal to Boeing". They have an even larger order for the 321NEO and a lot of 220 on order. They were offered the right deal on the MAX and took it. All of the big 3 have a mix of Airbus and Boeing. Really only UA is slanting more to Boeing on narrow bodies.

    Nobody in the business considers 'years' as a meaningful measure. It's all about flight cycles and flight hours. As for being "out of production," system components (i.e., spares) are very much in production as are parts for DC7s and such.

    Looking at the manufacturer serial numbers of Delta's four oldest 767-300s, they were built inbetween Air Zimbabwe's two 767-200ERs. From my understanding one of the Air Zim's 767s (Z-WPF "Chimanimani") is also still active at 32.1 years as of this video. I was in awe of those two 767s as a kid.

    'Age is just a number' was never more true than with commercial aircraft. By now these birds would have had multiple heavy maintenance cycles (D checks) where they're ripped to the studs. As well as many more higher level checks. If they were cars they would have been had every major component replaced as required.
    The only reasons operators replace them are greater economic efficiency, better technology and stricter regulatory standards.

    technically, N649DL, N650DL, N651DL, N652DL are not owned by delta airlines. They are owned presumably by the sports teams that charter them, as they are registered under a "BANK OF UTAH TRUSTEE" Shell identity in the N number database.
