In the past, my tools needed frequent alignments, I made a “very square” 2x4 block about 8” long from straight grained hardwood scrap to quick check fences and jigs. The block was so useful that I clear coated it. Many years later, that same block is still square, and I still use.
Hey man, I love your reviews and I would like to say thanks for the great videos. Also, you're like the only person left on YT that doesn't make stupid (often misleading) faces for the thumbnails. Please never change!
Lol!!! Thanks Gordon! I have a buddy with well over a million subs who’s told me repeatedly I need to put my face on all of my thumbnails. I resist but possible at my own peril. Time will tell!
In Greece for the summer, I just riped 24 2x6 boards in half, on the Skil saw, and...not ONE hikup! For it's size/price, the Skil is amazingly good. Just to update everyone on it... :)
I still use mine too. It's still crazy tough to beat for less than $300. Enjoy your summer overseas. Wave to my house in Italy when you fly over, haven't seen it in over 10 years. Thanks for watching!
There seems to be an even lesser known saw than any of the ones you've tested. The grizzly G0870 never seems to get mentioned yet has some features I have never seen on any other jobsite saw. They offer a 10 inch disk sander for the saw and because of this the saw also has variable speed as well. (Full speed for cutting, variable for sanding) and its pretty affordable as well. In a micro shop setting as I have, to get two machines in 1 is an awesome advantage. I've been using mine for 2 years now with probably close to 200 running hours on it without issue. Might want to at least look at it online at their site and think about checking it out. Side note. I have never run a dado stack on it. I just use my router for the times I have to do that. Thanks for the videos!
It seems like this saw hits all the right buttons for a contractor saw and a woodworking enthusiast on a tight budget who isn’t afraid of frequent need for adjustment of tolerances. Nice video representation of this machine Mike. 👍
You really can't go wrong either way. Im glad we finally found a saw that can compete with the Skil. I know this is about $75-100 more but I think there's an acceptable amount of upgrades to the Masterforce to justify the extra cash. Good luck with the decision and thanks for watching!
This saw is perfect for beginners, it's not too expensive and as you get more comfortable with your skills, you'll eventually want to move up to a better tablesaw. If you're always looking for perfection or require high-quality professional work, this won't be for you. You'll see how precision can only come from a good quality cabinet tablesaw. Best of luck to all beginners.
I think this would be an excellent beginner saw as long as the beginner knows to check the fence is perpendicular. Otherwise there is a good amount of value to dollar in this one. Thanks for watching!
Thanks, Mike. The force is with you. My opinion is that is a good saw for someone just starting out. There are some nice features and some detrimental points also; but all in all, it would work.
I was looking for a table saw 3 years ago, and found this beauty. This is a hidden gem, indeed. It has features that many other much more expensive saws do not -- all in one package! Namely: 13A motor, 3.5" max cutting depth, rack-and-pillion fence, dado compatibility, 33" max width, and wheels. This thing does need adjustment, and in my case, I had to adjust the motor to make the blade parallel to the miter slot. The fence can be adjusted so that there's zero slack in the guides. As to the fence itself, yeah, you gotta make sure it's perpendicular to the table. I suspect that 3d party clamp-on fence might be what the doctor ordered.
I love when the tools we review turn out to be good. In this case it's extra sweet because I had no idea what to expect going in. Not even Masterforce bothered to make a short promo vid for their own saw! Everything you said is true and I'll be keeping this one around for future comparison vids and reference. Thanks for watching!
@@ProjectsForAllReviews Thanks for making the video! One more thing: with a Freud blade and a CMT dado stack (also from Menards), I'm able to achieve 1/64" or greater precision over at least 4ft. I built 2 gates, each with 12 half-lap joints (6 on top and 6 on bottom) from aspen boards 3-4 ft long and 3.5" wide. The thing was perfectly square, and most joints fit tightly. Accuracy was limited by measurements (and jigs), not the saw.
Been scouring TH-cam for table saw reviews and loving the detail you put into yours! Which table saw would you go for if your budget was up to ~$700 and wanted portability? Thanks! Love the content...earned my Sub :D
I got a matabo saw that looks nearly identical to this aside from fence and stand differences for 300 bucks at Lowe's a month ago. I have been very pleased with it for the money. I also check it nearly every cut with a square but I don't use it enough to be upset about it.
We'll be reviewing that Metabo sometime soon. I'll do some comparisons to this Masterforce in that vid because I agree they look very similar! Thanks for watching!
It's alright. Better than the PRO_ "something" I bought for about $250 off Amazon a few months ago. But I can make that work too. I like rooting for the underdogs!
Im wondering if the silver Phillips head screws on the end of the fence will adjust the fence squareness. So it finds a middle ground after it is repositioned.
I do like the long arbor and the bigger table, the fence seems like a mistake though. I really like the stand on my Skil - I built a stationary stand for it with outfeed and just have the legs folded up - but if I needed to take it somewhere - easy peasy, just grab it and unfold the legs.
I also love the Skil for how compact it is. Sits on an about 1/3 of a shelf on a gladiator shelving unit in my garage, taking up no space at all. There are three other table saws on gravity style stands in there at the moment and I'm constantly moving them out of the way. Thanks for watching Bobby!
Do you have any plans to review the Masterforce track saw? It seems to come at a reasonable price, there aren't many reviews out there on TH-cam. Thanks!
Looks pretty flimsy.Last thing I need is constant fence adjustment for 90....Top surface is thin aluminum....For the price Skil 10 table saw beats this
@@petepenman3 It could have something to do with compression on TH-cam's part, but I don't know. I have two extremely high-end systems, one Intel and one AMD with great speakers, side by side and the sound was low on both. I'm not dismissing anything, but I'm leaning on TH-cam throttling/compressing things with adverse effects... It would be cool if others spoke up to see if their experiences are as up and down as ours. Take care.
Nope just a reset button there, maybe gotta trip to lock it out lol...and bevil looked to be solid deg. Off on scale..just sayin...cool review Mike, I've sent a few to ya in the last week for your table saw reviews, get asked allot bout em and I say, go see Mike lol...that Ridgid contractor saw, there selling a lot, last I seen it was on sale for 400 and change, you musra got a few bumps on that vid lately haha.
I appreciate you supporting the channel Ravenheart! Im looking forward to getting that Ridgid out of the box and seeing if there's any meaningful improvements over my 5 year old Delta. I grabbed mine for $399 too. Still can't believe HD is selling it that cheap. Thanks for watching!!
Hmmm. I see that too. I got the 11% off rebate on mine. Not sure how often they run that promo but seems like more often than not. Thanks for watching!
i LOVE THAT IT ACCEPTS DADOS, BUT IF YOUR CUTTING DADOS YOU NEED A FLAT SURFACE. I WOULD JUST BUY A USED GOOD SAW WITH A MACHINED TOP, HAS THE COMPACITY FOR A FULL DADO, AND HAS A DECENT FENCE, OR THE ABILITY TO ADD A DECENT FENCE WHEN MONEY IS AVAILIBLE IMO. ANYONE WILLING TO SPEND MORE THAN $350 SHOULD CHOOSE THE USED MARKET. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF SAWS THAT ARE ACCURATE OR THE ABILITY TO BE ACCURATE THAT ALSO ALLOW FOR UPGRADES. ALL THESE NEW SAWS ARE DOWNGRADES, AND LITTLE BY LITTLE THEY WANT YOU TO ACCEPT MARGINAL RESULTS AND ARE PURE SHIT. THANK MIKE. TAKE CARE. PS. TIMES ARE ROUGH AND REALLY, REALLY, GOOD SAWS CAN BE HAD FOR NEXT TO NOTHING, DONT LISTEN TO THE HYPE. GOD BLESS.
I agree there are many good used saw choices out there. I also just grabbed a Ridgid R4560 from HD for $399 plus tax. Not sure why HD is doing it but Im not complaining. Review on that within a month. Thanks for watching!!
Unfortunately..this saw which is a Metabo HTP has great features. But…the fence does not lock tight. There is at least if not more 1/16 of an inch of play in the fence at its mounting position knobs on the front and rear rails. In addition the bracket that mounts to the rail is plastic. Plastic mounts on an aluminum fence. I called tech support they were great. Take it back as I did. At lowes..I noticed the Kobalt brand/lowes same fence as this one same issues. Planning to get a table saw in the next few months. Going to have to decide between this saw and the Skil table saw.

To keep the cord from falling off push it into that little gap on the prong. Mine has stayed put since I started doing that.
Thanks for the tip Nicole! Every time i look over at that saw the cords on the floor! Thanks for watching!!

Not a bad saw at all! I don’t have a Menards near me in NJ, but if I did I wonder if I would’ve gotten this over the Dewalt!

Im just getting started and need a budget table saw in the 500$ range. After all your testing, do you have any thoughts?
Even if you don't factor in the color the MasterForce looks alot like the Metabo HPT. I'd curious to see how they match up!
Me too Sniper! We'll get to that Metabo soon. Thanks for watching!
It looks very similar to my Metabo HPT saw.
Well be doing that Metabo soon and I agree there looks to be some similarities. Thanks for watching Larry!
identical to my metabo lol
You should see if the dewalt fence fits on this saw. That could solve a huge issue with this one.
That would be sweet but I no longer have that DeWALT to try. Maybe I can borrow back just the fence 🧐
Any chance of reviewing the FLEX 10" table saw?
Yes we'll definitely do the Flex when I can get my hands on one. We'll get to some battery powered saws soon! Thanks for watching Ricky!
Swap with Cobalt fence? 🤷♂
Yeah, that fence is jenky. Totally not a fan of that. Otherwise it is a good saw. Thanks again for the review!
