What if you are more interested in scanning for topography of the land relative to the exterior buildings, property lines, distance to fences and city road, as well as tide levels and topography of beach areas at different tides? That’s what I’m interested in doing and also capture the rock levels in the water so we know what boaters should look out for when coming in close to the riverfront beach areas (including boulders and submerged tree trunks and things like that). Any suggestions? I have insta360 one 1” lense, an X3, a Go Pro hero 9, an iPhone 15 pro, and an insta360 regular camera (like a go pro and have waterproof case). I also have a bad elf but not paid for the subscription for the accuracy but may need to, and Bosch rotary laser 700 ft accuracy.
It's an interesting question! I’m not familiar with underwater measuring tools specifically, but I have experimented with outdoor scanning using Cupix Vista, and it worked great for creating a measurable 3D model. You might find my tutorial on it helpful for your needs. Check it out here: th-cam.com/video/BYM5FPorDVs/w-d-xo.html
great tutorial. I still have the insta360 one R. Do you know if in the final result of the model there is much difference in quality between the 1-inch and the one R? or practically matterport shows the result in a similar quality? I'm interested in knowing if it's worth buying the 1-inch. thanks!!
Thank you! Unfortunately, the scanning process with Matterport is entirely automatic, which means that you cannot edit your photos. Matterport utilizes your camera to scan the 360 space in 3D and generates the virtual model accordingly. Modifying the photos could result in errors in the modeling process.
Thanks for the tutorial. You have some great tutorials I've used alot. 🙂👍 I did the matterport scan with the insta360 OneR and the quality and dynamic range was not that good. Do you think the Insta360 One inch edition is much better? How does it compare to the matterport Pro 2 camera?
Hi, It depends on. On Matterport your nadir will be blurred automatically, and if you shoot with a monopod like I do, those tiny legs won't be visible. If you create your tour with other , you can retouch your photos before uploading (or some of the virtual tour editors have automatic nadir correction). In such case I use Photoshop in most of the times, erasing the legs in 360 mode.
@@GabaVR thanks for the quick response! Is it possible in Matterport? Upload photos after retouching? It will be great if you shot a small tutorial about this)
Is the tripod removed from the final image in the Matterport model? I currently use a Ricoh Z1 and X, but I do like the video features on the insta camera.
In the dollhouse it will be totally removed automatically. In the 360 virtual tour the nadir will be blurred out, so you won't see the tripod neither. However it's basically caused by the blur.
Hello, Im using matterport 1 for 8 years, now i have a job for outdoor and im thinking in insta360 RS one and 3Dvista, do you think if choose 360 can i make the virtual tour with no 3D / Dollhose but the normal tour only with 360 images?
Sure, basically you can take simple photos with One RS, and use them to create normal virtual tours, too, however I would recommend to shoot such tours with a DSLR or MILC. But if you can check out the image quality for yourself, and you find it satisfying and appropriate for that certain project, you can absolutely go on with it. In manual mode you'll get full control over all the settings and the 1-inch sensors with Leica lenses can deliver the best image among all the Insta360 cameras.
@@GabaVR I tryed with my iphone because dont have yet the one RS, If i align the 360 images, the tour will be normal with the circles to navigate ? I have a matterport account so dont want to pay for the 3DVista software yet.Thank You!
@@GabaVR I already have an RS, but the details of Pilot Era is great, as I saw somewhere, you can upload panos ta the app, so I thought there is a way to use even DSLR generated panos, but am not sure. Thanx again
Well, basically it should be there even when no camera is attached to the phone. It’s down there next to the shutter button in the Options menu. Are you missing this button?
I'm using insta360 X3 and the quality is not great but ok. I think in HDR it's 18MP not 72MP. how much is it in the One RS 1"? to see if it's worth the upgrade
The 1Inch captures in lower resolution (at least in megapixels). In practice it has better image quality thanks to the bigger sensors and better quality Leica lenses. But in the Matterport app you don't have access to camera settings, so it will capture everything totally automatically.
great tutorial, it would be good to also know how you create a floor plan from this... or is that just a quick export from matterport? tx
Nice review, can you also make one with insta + Realsee virtual tour?
Awesome! Thank you very much!
Great , very cool. can we have link to see the results

Thanx, what about Pilot Era EE, can it be used with Matterport, please?
As I know, Pilot Era is not supported. You can basically use the latest Insta360 (like ONE X2, X3, ONE RS series) and Ricoh Theta Z1.

Thanks for this tutorial. Very helpful.
Which tripod are you using
This is the Best360 monopod with weighted tripod legs
Android compatible?
I cannot find the option "complete/simple scan" with the One Rs 1-inch connected to Mettaport app. I only have the simple option. Any advise? Thanks!

@@GabaVR Actually it is a complete scan by default, that's why you don't have the option. So all good. Thanks

It is able watch on mobile? Or only pc?
Is there link to this work?
It’s available both on mobile and desktop. It depends on you, which one you prefer.
well done!
Why does the Matterport app change the setting on my Insta360 X3 from 72MP to HDR 18MP every time I press the scan button?
you try to take pictures with the insta 360 x3 in 72 mp and after that put on matterport?
