Drea D'Nur soothing voice! Akua Naru killin it! best female rapper alive! (my opinion) Digflo band Instrumentals on point ! ! ! WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE?! #DOPE #GROOVE
Everytime I listen to this... it pulls up so many feelings, that I just can't do anything else than enjoy it in tears.... Sorry for bad English - love doesn't need proper language. Thanks for this masterpiece.

Beloved For the rhyme-lovers, lost femcees never discovered For my little brother's struggle, work nine-to-five, a hustle 'Nother corporation, the land suffers of cries for justice I guess, questions keep comin', rhyme for justice or nothin' I chose the former, though the latter could keep me warmer, fatter Towards [?] bliss from ignorance Mini-skirts and Hummers, rappin' 'bout names and numbers Caught up in the slum as if the work is done, but it's not My people still suffer, you wonder why I can't sleep at night I guess it's just the plight, the plight of the weary eye Carry the world with me, too much to bear Don't look over here, my pain raw, could cause stares Draw tears, strum your chords here Lani sung the song of black women's lamentin' Yeah, and let the world hear, let 'em [Chorus: Drea D'Nur and Akua Naru] Weeping may endure for a night (Uh, let' em hear, let 'em, yeah) But joy, joy comes in the morning (Uh, nod your head to me) Weeping may endure for a night (Ay, oh yes) Oh, but joy, joy comes in the morning (Look at my hands, y'all) [Verse 3: Akua Naru] I write with my grandmother's hands The same veins that shuck sugar cane Pulled us up from the pain Parted afros and curled bangs Been off the hook since escape was off the chain You dare touch the name? [Bridge: Drea D'Nur and Akua Naru] (Ooh) Uh, you dare touch the name, y'all? (Ooh) Hey, who touch the name, y'all? (Ooh) Oh dear, test, oh dear, testin' me [Verse 4: Akua Naru] Dig, my mother's strength, search for her garden Intense, beg no pardon I'm just a woman, wholehearted Make you frown as if my flow farted, inhale The show start, I leave the crowd postpartum Who you know go hard on my plot? A soul saga, Edgar Allen Poe drama, study Naru Pre- and post-Garner like Joe Carter My blues cruise the throat chakra Plus the verse bring dope karma It make you wonder, uh In this modern day jungle, will I be taken under? Undressed and naked, covered Taken from the day before old age Warm summers 'nother phone rings, I'm comin' This morning, talk my favorite cousin, balm wounds with lovin' Whisper the soft somethin', comma, sore eyes, anger bubblin', abuse Body illusion, too much frontin', I could relate A little somethin' says she gave all, got nothin' I can see she can't see herself but lookin' for a husband I wrestle through her heart's bruises Like the pain, I watch a modern day Whitney Houston uncover what truth is A ruthless journey of inner movement My [?] whisper, hopefully soothin' As we grooved in the moment My words a slow dance as our souls hold hands Had tell her self-love is the very first romance
Akua Naru is crowdfunding to raise money to produce a film along with acclaimed Director Terence Nance (Pharaohe Monch’s “Clap” music video, or the film “An Oversimplification of her Beauty” among others are some of his works.) to produce a film based on her soon to be released album "The Miner's Canary". Akua's music is described as classic boom bap hip hop sounds, socially conscious rhymes, jazz-soul elements, strong & ulifting. Her latest project conveys a strong black feminist narrative framed by blues and jazz. The Miner's Canary is a 17 track “jazz”-inspired live hip hop album featuring legendary drummer Bernard Purdie, Cody Chesnutt, Trumpeter Christian Scott, Ben L’Oncle Soul, Daru Jones, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Fetsum, Sa-Roc, Dynasty, among others. The film will illustrate a love story as told on the album. Set in contemporary Southern France, the film's story reveals a West African immigrant couple, deeply in love and in the midst of cultural conflict. The film, not yet titled, grapples with themes discussed within the world of the Akua Naru album. It would be great if you could share Akua's campaign and news of her new album through your channels. We all know how important it is that we represent ourselves through the arts. The film is one representation of that. Please support & share. Joy & Justice, India Hall

Will do, thanks for the heads up. I think a lot of fans are still after her first album on CD or Vinyl but as far as I know it only had a very limited release and currently sellers are charging ridiculous prices for them. If she could consider doing a repress.. Look forward to hearing the new material.
J'ai hâte de les voir en live à Lyon le 28 mars (si je ne m'abuse) !! elle sera en bonne compagnie : Oxmo Pucino et Cody Chestnutt. Que du bon ! ça va juste être un régal cette soirée :) :) :)

[Intro: Akua Naru and Drea D'Nur]
Mo(u)rning
(Weepin', baby) Mo(u)rning, yeah
(Weepin') Mo(u)rning, uh-huh
(Weepin', baby) Mo(u)rning
(Weepin', baby)
[Verse 1: Akua Naru]
Yo, woke up this mornin', rested deep from a fire sleep
No water caught my flame, my thought form be pure heat
Watch your head, your step, your Sunday best
Your auric depth, known to suck sound from your place of rest
[Bridge: Drea D'Nur and Akua Naru]
(Ooh) I suck sound from your place of rest
(Ooh) Said, I suck sound from your place of rest
(Ooh) I suck sound from your place of rest
[Verse 2: Akua Naru]
Yo, hip-hop Toni Morrison, confused historian
Should I rhyme or sing a Song of Solomon? Beloved
For the rhyme-lovers, lost femcees never discovered
For my little brother's struggle, work nine-to-five, a hustle
'Nother corporation, the land suffers of cries for justice
I guess, questions keep comin', rhyme for justice or nothin'
I chose the former, though the latter could keep me warmer, fatter
Towards [?] bliss from ignorance
Mini-skirts and Hummers, rappin' 'bout names and numbers
Caught up in the slum as if the work is done, but it's not
My people still suffer, you wonder why I can't sleep at night
I guess it's just the plight, the plight of the weary eye
Carry the world with me, too much to bear
Don't look over here, my pain raw, could cause stares
Draw tears, strum your chords here
Lani sung the song of black women's lamentin'
Yeah, and let the world hear, let 'em
[Chorus: Drea D'Nur and Akua Naru]
Weeping may endure for a night (Uh, let' em hear, let 'em, yeah)
But joy, joy comes in the morning (Uh, nod your head to me)
Weeping may endure for a night (Ay, oh yes)
Oh, but joy, joy comes in the morning (Look at my hands, y'all)
[Verse 3: Akua Naru]
I write with my grandmother's hands
The same veins that shuck sugar cane
Pulled us up from the pain
Parted afros and curled bangs
Been off the hook since escape was off the chain
You dare touch the name?
[Bridge: Drea D'Nur and Akua Naru]
(Ooh) Uh, you dare touch the name, y'all?
(Ooh) Hey, who touch the name, y'all?
(Ooh) Oh dear, test, oh dear, testin' me
[Verse 4: Akua Naru]
Dig, my mother's strength, search for her garden
Intense, beg no pardon
I'm just a woman, wholehearted
Make you frown as if my flow farted, inhale
The show start, I leave the crowd postpartum
Who you know go hard on my plot?
A soul saga, Edgar Allen Poe drama, study Naru
Pre- and post-Garner like Joe Carter
My blues cruise the throat chakra
Plus the verse bring dope karma
It make you wonder, uh
In this modern day jungle, will I be taken under?
Undressed and naked, covered
Taken from the day before old age
Warm summers 'nother phone rings, I'm comin'
This morning, talk my favorite cousin, balm wounds with lovin'
Whisper the soft somethin', comma, sore eyes, anger bubblin', abuse
Body illusion, too much frontin', I could relate
A little somethin' says she gave all, got nothin'
I can see she can't see herself but lookin' for a husband
I wrestle through her heart's bruises
Like the pain, I watch a modern day Whitney Houston uncover what truth is
A ruthless journey of inner movement
My [?] whisper, hopefully soothin'
As we grooved in the moment
My words a slow dance as our souls hold hands
Had tell her self-love is the very first romance
