    lol at people saying it’s a boring knife. That’s the whole point here, to be as low profile as possible, yet somewhat modern.

    Ben’s story about the Sendy/Cedar is what sold it for me. Nearly every component has a tale. This is one of those knives that had sat on the back burner for awhile and was some back and forth between designer and engineer before it dropped. Personally I like the distinctive Spey blade. When you consider its use as a camp knife, it’s easier to spread stuff with a broad tip knife than a spear or steak knife. The Spey blade is also nice to get under paper/plastic wrist straps like from festivals, hospitals, etc. with less risk to the skin. Basically it’s a bit more EDC than usual, but that’s ok. Everything about the construction and action has been first rate. The only shortcoming is the tweezers just don’t have the bite that a pair of Vic SAK tweezers do. But Vic SAK tweezers will fit in the Sendy; you may need to reprofile the plastic tab on the SAK tweezers.

    A little side note, the tooth pick and tweezers are literally perfect for getting out splinters. I personally took the tweezers and filed them down to razor sharp points. There now the best tweezers I own.

    Simplicity does not equal bad, and affordable does not mean it’s cheap. Basic knife designs exist for a reason because when something works, why change it? The aesthetic might be simple and minimalist but the design has enough added features that make it stand out and from what I can tell from the reviews is that flipper is excellent and makes the knife super snappy. I like the design and I would happily carry it next to my Winter Blade Co Factor to blend expensive and unique with the simple and timeless!

    It seems a little thick for the form factor to me. One thing these style flippers usually excel at (and I appreciate) is being very svelte, making them perfect for office use or dress carry. So close, but a miss for me. Would have been perfect for my dad, as he was always searching for a toothpick.

    I know most people don't actually use the toothpicks in these knives but whomever decided to use metal for a toothpick must never have gone to a dentist and had a metal pick used on their teeth. The people at Victorinox apparently know the feeling. Other than that the Sendy is interesting.

  • @soundknight
    @soundknight 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You're totally wrong. It's not going after victorinox at all. It has a lot more in common with German wwi utility knives "Otter" and black cat etc. These German knives are still popular in this price range.

      @@rays5163@rays5163 Honestly all that is a you problem lol. Im glad you commented again cause i lied, i dont carry a nail clipper. I only have a toe-nail clipper and that stays in the restroom. I maintain my nails with my knife and have for almost 20 years, and i enjoy keeping up with my apprearence so its been fun and handy. I specifically as a niche buyer can appreciate this niche set of tools. So with that being said, i cant relate at all. I dont buy purposless crap to lose. I keep up with myself as well as my items, so pressure fit isnt a problem for me. Maybe this just isnt your cup of tea.

    • @rays5163
      @rays5163 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@HeartMarksman yeah friction fitting a toothpick and tweezers is still a god awful design. especially on the SAK models designed to be hung from a keychain. unless you're not actually putting those tools to use they are gaurunteed to become lost.

  • @riloh9
    @riloh9 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Ben Petersen has a gift for making the most bland and generic knife designs I’ve ever seen, but DAMN are they functionally excellent and flawlessly practical. I thought the Banter was the most “that’s a knife alright” knife I ever saw, until I saw the Lander, until I saw the Sendy. But I could never discourage anyone from buying any of those knives because each one hits the nail squarely on the head.

    Buy a different knife if you want something functional and useful.
    The Civivi Sendy looks like an amazing knife, but it's not. This is a knife that needs constant babysitting. The Toothpick doesnt like to stay and tries to escape at the most inconvenient times. I've lost it 3 times, and this last time it seems to be gone for good. The tweezers are much to pointy they have zero purchase. In order to make them usable, I had to grind them down till they had a larger flat surface. I used sandpaper because i didn't have access to a grinding tool. The knife while very pretty, doesnt like to do its job of cutting. It tends to get hung up at the base and seems to dull quickly. When I say you have to babysit this knife, I'm not joking. This is supposed to be a reliable tool which holds 2 other tools. That's its purpose. When i told civivi about these issues, this was their reply...["The tweezers is placed on the presentation side scale, and the toothpick is placed on the lock side scales. If these positions are reversed, it may result in the toothpick being more prone to slipping out.
    The edge retention and sharpness is influenced by various factors, such as steel composition, blade geometry, thickness, hardness, and usage patterns.
    If there are any concerns or questions about your blade, we kindly suggest you send the knife to our USA after-sales center, we will check the blade. ]
    Why? If this issue was already known, why did this tool not come with instructions? Why inform me now? Why is it my job to pay them to look at something they know is a problem? Why do I need to babysit a tool? If I find another issue, are they gonna gaslight me again with instructions they didnt provide?
    I repeat, Buy a different knife if you want something functional and useful.
