I should probably include some timecodes here for specific spots in the video. I didn't get to that in life. Oh well.
By the way, I left a knife in Hood River, Oregon and in Cedar City, Utah. Go treasure hunting! Coordinates in the video.
I bought a Baby banter, then a Banter, then I lost the Baby and bought another one. Then i bought the Big banter. The Lander 1 Then the Baby Wharncliffe. Then I started watching your channel here and subscribed a few months back. Then TODAY, after I watched this video and went to check out the Sendy model, realized who you were (Banter) Ahahhahahhaahah! I think my brain exploded, I can be sooo slow sometimes. Look, for realz. I LOVE your designs, they are snappy, perfect carries, and they WORK. I just want to say, as a multi-purchaser, and a fan, Thank you. I am going to follow you on your adventure journeys and your are inspiring me to create my own. Kudos Sir.
Amazing. Thanks for inadvertently jumping in on my journey. And then doing it on purpose! I appreciate the support.
Amazon delivered my “Sendy” today to replace my previous Benchmade EDC. What a great little pocket EDC. Excited to give it a workout.
So solid. So very solid.
Great knaf ahmm knife. 2 Hand opening NO nail nick, Backlock, scissors and a woodsaw and it would be PERFECT - as a KNAF with the scale swap option
this video is a masterpiece. we need more stories like this
This was a journey of a knife introduction. Loved it!
Chaos encapsulated in moving pictures. 😂
Love this so much... Been Sober bout 3 n half yrs and Watching you one of your vids back in the beginning got me back into collection n really using knives , which has helped me stay sober this long. Thanks for loving the Riddle of Steel as much as I do.
This makes me so happy to hear. Keep going! So cool.
I'm a foreman in a machine shop and get little pieces of metal in my hands all the time. I'd been looking for a GOOD quality knife with tweezers in it for a while. While looking through TH-cam several months back, I came across this video and seen instantly that I had to have one! The knife is amazing! And holds an edge very well for what I put it through! The tweezers actually work very well and the metal pick amazingly works great for digging the metal out of my hands! I just wanted to let you know how satisfied i am with the sendy and the great quality of this knife!
This video is incredibly shot/edited and of course the story with it fits incredibly well! Gonna order a sendy and one of those knafs hats soon!
Thanks! Rikki did the edit. But also! I can still shoot! That’s high praise when I feel like a washed up film student. 🙌
Ordered my Sendy. Thanks for building products we can enjoy, Ben!
A Ben design is always a good design. A man of knowledge and experience. Cudos!
Thank you. That's very kind of you.
A super great knife. Knafs designs are the best designs.
Gawd I freaking love when knife designers explain the inspiration. It REALLY makes a knife more special. I didn't really need another knife before. Now I want one 😑 Touche
Love the story Ben. I saw the Sendy on the KC site a few days ago and popped it on my wishlist. The design and spey blade just spoke to me. Now that I know the story behind it, I'm gonna have to tell them to "send it" to me soon.
Thanks for everything you do for the knife community.
Shucks. Thank you. I’m grateful for the support. Full send!!
Really cool to get some insight into your design process/philosophy for the Sendy! Would love to see more content like this!
I just did a double take and realized the name did change. I remember setting up the notification for when the Cedar would be in stock at Knafs and I just immediately hit buy when the notification email came in.
Dude, thank you! Got my Sendy a few days ago.. Amazing how you got the perfect Swiss army knife in a modern flipper. Literally it's like that old school blade in a super nice looking handle.. Nice shape too..I just love this thing. Fills my EDC void.
Loved your first knife, the lander didnt do it for me but this sendy seems like it's for me. Count me in
Love it! Just got the Baby Banter n the Lander a couple months ago and have been carrying them everyday! I’m 3 1/2 hours away from the first coordinate down in Oakridge but with the current ice storm situation it might be impossible at the moment😅 Keep up the good work brother!
I love the Sendy. I have only had it a few days and I know it will part of my rotation. Great job Ben!!
I just became a civivi fan. The sendy will be my first model. And then the storm ridge.
I really like my sendy, aka cedar. Nice little pocket knife with beautiful wood scales. Keep ‘em coming!
That detent sounds on point
Dear Ben, the knife is masterpiece! So clever design, I love it! Maybe with lockback coud be thinner? Greetings from Czech Republic. David
I own the 2 G10 and the black one is my best operating knife. Nothing deploys as quickly and smoothly. I also sent a Micarta to my friend in Sandpoint ID!
picked up this knife after waiting for it to become available here in Canada for a while... been loving it so far, shame about the name! but it's still absolutely great, I use it in a woodshop so the tweezers also get a lot of use.
I was the first one to buy it from the physical Knafs store today. 🙌
Yessss. That makes me so happy to hear. Thanks for the support! It’s a dumb little thing, but if you’d like me to engrave a signature on it when you’re in one day, tell Keith I told you I would.
@@benbantersI will definitely take you up on that offer. Are there any days this week that you won’t be at the store?
Missed the first drop, just swooped up the spey point in green g10. Cant wait for it to get here in oregon!
THIS. I love your other content for sure…but this reminisces back to your blade steel video with that “HQ” place of going out and just adventuring outdoors. I can’t imagine running a side-hustle-gone-full-time leaves a lot of room for video content so thank you for this fun little video adventure.
And yeah, I’ve been waiting for this knife since it got teased in some civivi video from some blade show a while back. Shipped today. “Snows too soft, another day another beer”
I’m glad you can appreciate the lack of time for this stuff. I almost didn’t go. Credit goes to Josh for encouraging me to do it and volunteering to make sure I didn’t make die. And huge credit to Athena for keeping the world running while I’m constantly running. It always takes a team.
Haha, I don’t have nearly as many kids as you nor do I run my own company so yeah, props to you and your wife! And You for sure are differentiating yourself in this saturated market with how you use story and meaningful interaction. Obviously I’m a fan! Hopefully not too creepy though lol. Again, can’t wait for the blade to arrive. Cheers!
I’m excited for this one.
Good stuff, just bought one of these for my little brother and me. Love this design.
Enjoy, Tyler! Thanks for the support.
Just got one. The toothpick & tweezers combo did it for me! 👌
Great knife and video! Congrats! 🇲🇽
That's too bad about the name, behind my house here in VT we have kind of this bog area that's full of cedar trees. Definitely one of my favorite trees around here!
Beautiful knife! Def on my wish list.
After years of knife buying I am now very particular and a knife has be stand out as something I don’t already have if I’m going to buy it. The Sendy with the twizzers and pick got me! I have the wood scaled drop point model on order. I have many Civivi knives and everyone of them has been a good value and a great build.
That’s awesome. I hope you love it.
Loved the story! Went to go look for that cedar knife and saw it was found! Stoked on that guys stoke for finding it! And stoked to buy that knife because it looks so bad ass !!
Great video Ben! I'm waiting for my Sendy to get here. I know I'll love it like all of your other designs. They're all aces. Thanks and Take care.
Shucks. Thanks Ricardo. I’m grateful that people keep buying my weird ideas.
Incredible story telling, my friend! The Cedar…no, *Sendy 😉 looks incredible. I love the classic Coleman colorway and all of the fine details that you put into this. Well thought out, as always!
Thanks Anthony! You know me: constant mess making over here. ;)
Still ordered one, I'll still call is the Cedar
You rebel. 😎
Awesome man!
Well if you’re lucky you met my father Jim or the fantastic Laura, they were the rangers at Cedar Mesa FOR EVER. A part of my soul remains their due to the sure magic. All the best. LOVE the knife. Keep up the humble/vibrant/thoughtful work.
I was in the ranger station one day during one of my early trips, and I asked the lady which ruin was her favorite. She said, “I’ll never tell anyone that.” I love that place. The amount of mystery, secrecy, and wild fun is great down there. But people have found it. It’s still great, but I see a lot of folks down there now.
Ben I don’t know what it is about the design of this knife. I think it’s the old school meets new school. That just speaks to me so obviously had to pick one up. Keep up the awesome work.
Thanks for the support, Adam!
WIUG?! I’m a fan of all your designs and I have to admit I own at least 1 or more of each and every one of them. Also, I just bought a black on black Sendy, and now I need to buy the green micarta version. Thank you for the great video and keep up the great work brother!!!🔪🖤🗡
Excellent username. And thanks for the stellar support!
@@benbanters Thank you for all your awesome design work! GO KNAFS!!!🔪🖤🗡
It is a great looking knife!!
Great name! Super cool knife! Scientific name for a cedar tree is Cedrus Libani. Maybe a Knafs Cedrus in the future?
This. This I love. I probably should have called this one Cedrus. I need more Latin names in my life. 🙌
Haha! Love your content... and your knives! Keep up the great work!@@benbanters
great design... LIKE ;-)
It’s wonderful to get a view into the journey of the knife design and designer. Keep it up!
Great story and way to keep our attention the whole time. Definitely subscribed. I can't wait to see more.
Yessss. Working on that storytelling over here. Thanks for jumping onboard!
Good video Ben
Congrats on another great design Ben! I would've called it the "Plank"
red plank
I actually really like that. Thanks for the suggestion!
@@benbanters no problem, congratulations on another great design!
I love this knife, just ordered one! can't wait! #sendit
Ordered the black one! Keep it up!
I love the tweezers. I wish there were more knives with that feature
I have a Baby Banter in Black G-10/Satin blade. I think it's a great alternative to the Spyderco Dragonfly. It's a great 5th pocket knife or my Bob Terzuola ATCF also made by Civivi in Nitro V,
Sidequest woulda been a cute name that maintains its versatility as urban edc to adventuring. And renaming it, kinda was a sidequest. I think knife designing ia genuinely so cool, what a good problem to have lmao
I got two fortune cookies from the same place weeks between visits and both said the same thing "now is the time to fuffill your dream of traveling abroad" coincidence sure, same place, same stock, but this just hit something inside of me, and reminded me of a dream i had where i walked out of what seemed a industrial area into a clearing with mountains in the distance. I can't travel abroad due to.. reasons. But ive always like the idea of traveling by train, ive done a few trips to davis and Sacramento, currently working on saving up and getting out that front door.
Yessss. This is my hope for you and everyone! Travel. See things. Take chances. Make mistakes. Get messy- even if it’s in your own neighborhood or backyard. The world is a beautiful place and I hope we all get out there and see it in some little way.
Increíble historia amigo Ben ❤❤❤ solo quedaba decir " envíalo!!! Envíalo!!!😢 esta hermoso el diseño y las vivencias que lo forjaron ❤
Gracias Samuel! Lo pasamos super bien.
inspirational and honest story telling.
awesome video
If you issue a second edition, please see if there’s a way of making the back spacer out of cedar. Out of an homage to the original name. I won’t tell anybody. And I’ll buy another. 😎
Bought two just in case i loose one. Would like a higher end blade steel version like MAGNACUT.
Great video! I've posted it to the Civivi subreddit, where I'm a moderator. We'd love to have you do an AMA there some time!
Niiiice! That’s super cool of you. Thanks! I’d love to do an AMA. I’m ben_banters on Reddit. Hit me up and let’s find a good day to do it. Love me some TL;DR and bananas for scale. 😝
The unique blade profile alone makes this a must-buy for me. What's the inspiration for the spey blade?
Great question. Spey blades were used on traditional knives for castrating farm animals. The shape allows to get close to the skin with less chance of puncturing or accidentally stabbing.
This knife is awesome I recently reviewed it
I got a sendy Ben,well d9ne its a great knife..
Excellent!
Love it ✌️
Any idea when these will restock? I totally want one. :)
Soon-ish. I've heard end of March-ish.
there’s like a mini pen and ferro rod for the victorinox, i wonder if they are compatible?
Doubtful. These are pretty thin. Ferro rod maybe. Let me know if you try it.
Awesome knife. Gonna have to get one of those for sure. I just have to ask who’s the Larry enticer fan?😂😂 4:25
Me. I love me some Larry. That guy’s a nut case. 🤣
Such a fun video!
Did Peter McKinnon give you pointers on this video? I feel like he had maybe a touch on this, lol!
That's high praise. Love Pete. But no. This was all me shooting (with help from Josh!) and Rikki editing. My film school degree coming in handy! ;)
More please
Three hour drive to get to those coordinates in Cedar City. Feeling “Sendy”
I need to know how this turns out…
If this was a spine or button lock i would buy 20 of them. I need locking blades in my life
Just ordered!
6:23 - Never Forget
Now I'm hungry!
My wife just thanked me with the black spay blade preorder from WMK... I cleaned the kitchen... photographed nicer crime scenes 😂❤ (she doesn't know I did either yet.)
Ha! Getcherself some salmon!
👍🏼very nice I like it.
Listen all I’m saying is laws prevent Ben from calling it cedar but what’s to stop us, the public, from calling it the cedar/sendy interchangeably?
The law can’t stop us all! 💪😝
Are the scales still easily interchangeable as shown in the early proto drawings??
They’re not. In fact, they’re probably a level 2 disassembly. Not hard, but mildly complicated.
Ordered
My only question is why a liner lock? You have to put your finger in the blade path to close. So 2010.
Ha! 2010 was a great year. Great question. Every lock type has tradeoffs. Liner locks allow for a pretty slim design overall. Many people enjoy them, and they work really well with flippers. But you're right: you do have to put your finger in the blade path. Some people enjoy the dangerrrrrr!
You should make a salmon colored Sendy, for a Samy Sendy edition
A sweet samy Sendy? I love it.
How in the heck did you make a spay blade, look kinda cool?!
I literally have no idea. It sorta just happened. But also: there’s an analogous line to the spay where the in line flipper is. By pairing those two lines, it creates cohesion in the design. Maybe that’s why?
Hey Ben I featured your knife a few times in my channel and a few of your other designs I am a big fan if you want to send me some to review let me know I will show it on my channel
Subscribed 🦉
Will the tweezers be able to remove a tick?
I suspect it would, but I haven't had the opportunity to test it with ticks yet.
Does anybody knows if it's legal in denmark.
I suppose if someone goes to those coordinates they will comment about it?
Both have been found. Fun stories.
Checked the Cedar City location and the knife was gone 😢
Check my Shorts on YT. I’m sad you missed it, but also stoked for the guy that snagged it. He was all smiles.
New series: Ben vs Wild
I’m pretty sure Wild would win. 😝 Bear Grylls I ain’t.
Gordon Ramsey is jealous ! He just might have to duplicate that Salmon cookout ... just because :)
Gordon Ramsey keeps us on speed dial. ;)
LOL@@benbanters
You should have called it wood.
I wish there were music credits
Looks like a Swiss Tech Würdigg...
That's what I thought too.
I just googled that one. It’s a fun comparison. The Wurdigg has some similar lines, but they’re very different knives visually. Accord/Corolla territory- same same but different.
You should have called it the “seeder” although… maybe not 😂😂😂😂
Lmao Ben what was the name gonna be when you shot this 😂😂
Nvm I just got to that part : )
Could man get some scissors on the sendy 2?
