It did take a few more listens for this album to click with me (I mean, can you blame me?), but once it clicked, it CLICKED. This band makes songs so chaotic, disgusting, and off the hinges, and yet it never feels sloppy. They know exactly what they’re doing. They’re stirring up chaos without getting lost in the madness themselves, and this album is a perfect example of that.
The fact that this band is still so new and are already THIS good is very exciting. Great time to be a rock music fan.

some records you need to check out
    black midi - schlagenheim
being their debut, it punches you in the face and doesn't give you a break. although i prefer schlagenheim over cavalcade, it has been taken over by hellfire. warning: bmbmbm will scare you
car seat headrest - twin fantasy (face to face, aka the 2018 version)
a rerecorded version of one of his first albums from 2011, will toledo's twin fantasy is a depressing, yet beautifully executed album exploring sexuality, mental health, and what to make out of it. seriously an amazing record
    wire - pink flag
in my opinion, one of the best punk records. short and sweet, the sound of this record is unmatched even to this day.
    and finally
idles - joy as an act of resistance.
a gutpunch, aggressive record that leaves you wanting more, it's seriously good. although i personally haven't listened to it in full, what i have heard is brilliant
take these into consideration, or don't, personally i don't care LMAO

It's so funny to me how divisive 'Eat Men Eat' is among first time listeners when I LOVED it on mine. I think Cameron's calm to unhinged vocal delivery works so well with the building intensity of the music. It sounds like some twisted version of a Spaghetti western track.

With Black Midi I’m still currently at the stage of appreciation of technical skill without the emotional connection to the music.
I did have the same to start with BCNR but now Ants from Up There is my album of the year and I love the bands catalogue so hopefully the same will come with these guys. The boundaries they’re pushing and minds they’re blowing is something very rarely seen these days

Respectfully Eat Men Eat is one of the best on this record but I’m glad you’re rocking w/ black midi. Such a young talented band, & I ABSOLUTELY ADORE that theres recent wave of British post punk, consisting of young (more or less) talented musicians that seemingly came out of nowhere. Breathing new life in the post punk genre, a genre that made me geek for rock as whole in the first place. I take this movement as symbol that rock is still putting out and pushing rather than dying. Black Midi & BC,NR are my favorites out of this wave but there’s other good bands like Viagra Boys, IDLES, Squid, etc. ( I’m sure there’s others but I haven’t gotten to them yet)
Also very glad that Jon is putting out a rock channel. Not enough rock oriented channels that are keeping up to date. I love Rap and it is probably my favorite genre but with its popularity obviously it’s gonna take the majority of reaction content where as other genres don’t get pushed as much therefore I’m here dying to scratch the itch of my favorite music that is outside of Rap

Black midi at its best right here. Tell me how tf you got a group of like 21 year olds by now that released 3 albums in four years that are all superb right out of the gate with Schlagenheim and they just keep on getting better.

If you didn’t grow up with music like this it can be a lot to take in and be overwhelming . You should try to come back to a song or two later but if not ya everything can’t be for everyone.
