Living in the Philippines for the past 13 months has been awesome. Last year, I lost my job in NYC and my Filipina wife lost her job, too. We had already built a house here several years ago and figured why not live here rent-free?! Since then, we installed solar panels in our home, travel often, and raise 3 dogs here. Life here - just outside of Metro Manila - is awesome!
What’s the process to move there do I have to have a job lined up? My fiancé wants me to move there and I don’t mind doing it I just don’t know the process
@@BlkRnger we got our visa approved at the Philippines Embassy and then purchased our plane tickets. I have to extend my visa every 6 months here. There are work visas available so you know. You have to quarantine here for a few days here after you land. The length of quarantining changes often so I cannot tell you exactly how long.
@@BlkRnger exactly. The are many different visas here, I just chose this one since you will spend hours at the embassy or branch office here. Going there twice a year is not too bad.

Almost everything is cheap in my country, but this country is beautiful. People are also friendly and hospitable. I just realized my country is beautiful when I moved to another country to work. I really see the difference. Like, "Why is this expensive in this country? In my country you can buy two or more with the same price." Oh, I miss my country. Anyway, thank you for this video. Loved hearing about your experience in Dumaguete. I just left there April 7th from my vacation. My wife and daughter are still there with the family until mid-June. Dumaguete is a nice place and you can go to many places as you stated. I went to Sumilon Island and did the Whale Shark Watching in Oslob Cebu. Next time I visit I will go to Siquijor and maybe Apo Island since it looked nice in your video. Thanks for sharing my wife's beautiful city.

Greetings, I have been watching a few of the videos by folks in PH as I have been living in Cambodia for the past 7 years and I am thinking about moving to PH. I was in the U.S. military and visited PH. in the mid 1980's and loved it but haven't been back since but I digress. I'm finally going. Already took the first flight. Two more to go (Lisbon, Portugal to Manila, Philippines is a looong way). 😁 One month there. I'm very excited. A while ago it seemed like a somewhat distant dream, even after I've booked the tickets. But now it's 80% real. 90% when I get to Kuala Lumpur and 100% when I get to Manila. 😁 Also, for europeans and americans you need to check out the revolut card, if you haven't already. (Check the countries they serve) It mostly allows you to avoid those huge bank fees at almost no charge. You can see the conditions and other stuff for yourselves (including videos here on youtube). It's what I'm going to use on the trip. I have been using it for a while on my home country, Portugal, and it's just as it promises. Best thing that ever happened for travellers. 😁
Nice videos guys, refeshing to see a young couple enjoying themselves without all the loutish or yobbish "show off" behaviour. You talk a lot of sense and seem to, at least, try to appreciate the customs and the places you visit, a remark that was made about holding hands in a wat in Thailand in another vid made me smile, but you seem to be like that wherever you go. l enjoy the honesty and the quality of your vids, keep up the great work, it's really, really cool stuff.

Hope you get to visit Western Visayas too.. And visit Isla Gigantes in Northern Iloilo and as well Guimaras Islands which is Famous for the sweetest mangoes in the world. And also in Antique province for it's clean rivers and water falls.

Have fun guys ive not long got back from were you been ...another nice place for you to stay is off the end of cubu bantian island ...very beautful place ...we traveled from there across to north negross stayed a while then bus trip from there to negross before boat trip to sicihoar ...have fun guys and take care .... it is a very very beautful place or islands ...try bohol panglao to guys .....

Thanks for that interesting video. Good info. Just a little tip... When you're talking it's best to not have music, (imo). Save it for when you break away to video with no talking. It makes it easier to hear what you're saying and gives contrast instead of just having non-stop music.

I'll definitely check out Dumaguate. We just got a bought a townhouse in Cavite and were able to find a local beach about an hour away. I love the local beaches as opposed to the main tourist sites. Although, Cebu and Cavite are on the travel list one day. Greetings from China.

Great info guys, I'd probably live there in Dumaguate too if I settled down again in the Philippines. I lived in the northern big city of that island, Bacolod. It's chill there but kinda boring but I've heard from many that Bacolod is better if you have a family. Cheers!

If you have time.....also visit Tagaytay even for just 1 day......Palawan is a beautiful natural place....the landscape and the scenic is amazing....make sure you bring your underwater camera and your drone if you have one......you can really make an "Epic" video in Palawan and in Bolinao....right along the coast....in Bolinao there is a place "hiden" white sand beach and semi secluded beach......very relaxing place ......and stop by Lingayen, Pangasinan

You two are great together. I am much older than you too, and nearing retirement age. So like a few others, my questions would always more directed in that direction. I had initially started thinking about retiring in Thailand, but I was thinking Philippines possibly deserve a look too. I love Thai food, so I wonder how does Filipino food compare? Would it makes sense to spend 4 months in Thailand, 4 months in Philippines and 4 back in the USA? What do you think? Thanks Again

I think hopping between Thailand and Philippine really does make sense to me (Tah) I can't really compare which country is better even though I am Thai, I love Thailand but I also love Philippines very much, Thailand and Philippines got their own charm that I would recommend for you to see both countries. For food, as Thai who love Thai food a lot, I found myself loving Filipino food a lot too, pretty much similar in taste and Filipino food is less spicy compared to Thai food so I think if you can't eat spicy food but love Thai food you would love Filipino food:D
One thing I forgot to mention about living 4 months in Thailand, Chiangmai is cool place, I would not recommend you staying in Bangkok for 4 months the air pollution is crazy here, not good.. and there is not much to do compared to Chiangmai..
I was thinking about Hua Hin, Chaeng Mai, or Chaeng Rai. Bangkok is too much everything, I am old I can't keep pace, or want to keep that pace. I live in NYC so I been there for over 30 years, I want to slow down, smell the roses, SaBai, SaBai. Food in the Philippines concerns me a little, I know it's not Thai, I've been eating a primarily Thai diet, with a Steak ones in a blue moon. (I am a Texas boy, with Texas Ways) Are there plenty of Fresh Fruit and Vegetables.

i like getting a bargain myself, i live in bacolod, also in negros, been to dumaguete once and loved it, i pay a thousand peso for internet with pldt and it's fast, food i always incorporate veggies to make it healthy, cooking at home would definitely be cheaper and i don't use msg or magic sarap, glad u guys enjoyed your vacation and saved a bundle!

Maybe 200 years ago. Modern Filipino food is almost all meat or at least 80% meat. If you want a salad then it's typically 2 leaves of lettuce and 2 tomatoes. Malunggay and kangkong are increasingly rare. It's a shame tomatoes are not embraced more despite them growing so well in the climate.

Living in the Philippines for the past 13 months has been awesome. Last year, I lost my job in NYC and my Filipina wife lost her job, too. We had already built a house here several years ago and figured why not live here rent-free?! Since then, we installed solar panels in our home, travel often, and raise 3 dogs here. Life here - just outside of Metro Manila - is awesome!
What’s the process to move there do I have to have a job lined up? My fiancé wants me to move there and I don’t mind doing it I just don’t know the process
@@BlkRnger we got our visa approved at the Philippines Embassy and then purchased our plane tickets. I have to extend my visa every 6 months here. There are work visas available so you know. You have to quarantine here for a few days here after you land. The length of quarantining changes often so I cannot tell you exactly how long.

@@BlkRnger exactly. The are many different visas here, I just chose this one since you will spend hours at the embassy or branch office here. Going there twice a year is not too bad.

Almost everything is cheap in my country, but this country is beautiful. People are also friendly and hospitable. I just realized my country is beautiful when I moved to another country to work. I really see the difference. Like, "Why is this expensive in this country? In my country you can buy two or more with the same price." Oh, I miss my country. Anyway, thank you for this video. You guys have been absolutely SMASHING the uploads recently! Love it! Vlogging here in the Philippines is so rewarding isn't it? So right on the Red Horse... strong and cheap! Loved hearing about your experience in Dumaguete. I just left there April 7th from my vacation. My wife and daughter are still there with the family until mid-June. Dumaguete is a nice place and you can go to many places as you stated. I went to Sumilon Island and did the Whale Shark Watching in Oslob Cebu. Next time I visit I will go to Siquijor and maybe Apo Island since it looked nice in your video. Thanks for sharing my wife's beautiful city.

One month there. I'm very excited. A while ago it seemed like a somewhat distant dream, even after I've booked the tickets. But now it's 80% real. 90% when I get to Kuala Lumpur and 100% when I get to Manila. 😁
Also, for europeans and americans you need to check out the revolut card, if you haven't already. (Check the countries they serve)
It mostly allows you to avoid those huge bank fees at almost no charge. You can see the conditions and other stuff for yourselves (including videos here on youtube).
It's what I'm going to use on the trip. I have been using it for a while on my home country, Portugal, and it's just as it promises.

Hope you get to visit Western Visayas too.. And visit Isla Gigantes in Northern Iloilo and as well Guimaras Islands which is Famous for the sweetest mangoes in the world. And also in Antique province for it's clean rivers and water falls.

Thanks for that interesting video. Good info. Just a little tip... When you're talking it's best to not have music, (imo). Save it for when you break away to video with no talking. It makes it easier to hear what you're saying and gives contrast instead of just having non-stop music.

I'll definitely check out Dumaguate. We just got a bought a townhouse in Cavite and were able to find a local beach about an hour away. I love the local beaches as opposed to the main tourist sites. Although, Cebu and Cavite are on the travel list one day. Greetings from China.

Great info guys, I'd probably live there in Dumaguate too if I settled down again in the Philippines. I lived in the northern big city of that island, Bacolod. It's chill there but kinda boring but I've heard from many that Bacolod is better if you have a family. Cheers!

If you have time.....also visit Tagaytay even for just 1 day......Palawan is a beautiful natural place....the landscape and the scenic is amazing....make sure you bring your underwater camera and your drone if you have one......you can really make an "Epic" video in Palawan and in Bolinao....right along the coast....in Bolinao there is a place "hiden" white sand beach and semi secluded beach......very relaxing place ......and stop by Lingayen, Pangasinan

You two are great together. I am much older than you too, and nearing retirement age. So like a few others, my questions would always more directed in that direction. I had initially started thinking about retiring in Thailand, but I was thinking Philippines possibly deserve a look too.
I love Thai food, so I wonder how does Filipino food compare? Would it makes sense to spend 4 months in Thailand, 4 months in Philippines and 4 back in the USA? What do you think?

I think hopping between Thailand and Philippine really does make sense to me (Tah) I can't really compare which country is better even though I am Thai, I love Thailand but I also love Philippines very much, Thailand and Philippines got their own charm that I would recommend for you to see both countries. For food, as Thai who love Thai food a lot, I found myself loving Filipino food a lot too, pretty much similar in taste and Filipino food is less spicy compared to Thai food so I think if you can't eat spicy food but love Thai food you would love Filipino food:D
One thing I forgot to mention about living 4 months in Thailand, Chiangmai is cool place, I would not recommend you staying in Bangkok for 4 months the air pollution is crazy here, not good.. and there is not much to do compared to Chiangmai..
I was thinking about Hua Hin, Chaeng Mai, or Chaeng Rai. Bangkok is too much everything, I am old I can't keep pace, or want to keep that pace. I live in NYC so I been there for over 30 years, I want to slow down, smell the roses, SaBai, SaBai.
Food in the Philippines concerns me a little, I know it's not Thai, I've been eating a primarily Thai diet, with a Steak ones in a blue moon. (I am a Texas boy, with Texas Ways) Are there plenty of Fresh Fruit and Vegetables.

What months should I stay in Thailand, in Philippines, back to the USA? I am Trying to avoid the Rainy Season everywhere. I got the USA, I know where to go but Thailand, and the Philippines. I am thinking Philippines Dec thru March, USA Apr thru July, and Thailand Aug thru Nov.

i like getting a bargain myself, i live in bacolod, also in negros, been to dumaguete once and loved it, i pay a thousand peso for internet with pldt and it's fast, food i always incorporate veggies to make it healthy, cooking at home would definitely be cheaper and i don't use msg or magic sarap, glad u guys enjoyed your vacation and saved a bundle!

Yea i know! We got lucky when we were there last we had really strong internet like 20 download and 22 upload i'm not sure how we got lucky but it worked out! We are in Langkawi and the internet is crazy good where we are staying now!
You can get very good internet in the Philippines too.
My friend works online as an ESL teacher and found an apartment in Cebu city with solid WiFi. :)
You can stay in bigger cities like Cebu where internet connection is pretty solid.
That's pretty clever..you save a ton if you connect with the locals, Pilipinos are very, very friendly people as they say they will give the shirt of their back to help. Once you find and know your way around, it will be just a breeze..Enjoy.

Nice video you two! My wife is from Phils. Butuan City to be exact. Our last visit was the most fun and most productive. Would love to live there. But, kinda difficult to do with 3 girls and no supplemental income besides our full time jobs here in the US.

Please wear helmets when using a motorbike, drivers here in the Philippines can be very undisciplined. Better be extra careful specially in the cities.

Fast food are not Filipino food. Real Filipino food are fish and vegetables. and lots and lots of it!!! Just sing the Filipino song.. Bahay Kubo and it will described all the vegetables we eat. Meat?? Only on special occasion. I grew up eating..talbos, malunggay and kangkong. All natural, all organic, Grown straight in the backyard.

Maybe 200 years ago. Modern Filipino food is almost all meat or at least 80% meat. If you want a salad then it's typically 2 leaves of lettuce and 2 tomatoes. Malunggay and kangkong are increasingly rare. It's a shame tomatoes are not embraced more despite them growing so well in the climate.
