I used to have to give myself little talks before painting like "your allowed to make bad art!", now that I make bad art more regularly I don't have to talk myself into it as much. 😂
yum yum yum! a sophie mcpike sorbet collection soon? imagine that kind of collaboration! the colours! the flavours! these paintings look DELICIOUS! for my eyes but also as forbidden candy! hehehe! 💖💖💖💖💖
I love your videos! I love hearing you talk about squishy-squashies and blobination. You ALWAYS make complete sense to me! I think I speak the same language! I always have. Your honesty, your authenticity is a precious gift. Your reckless abandon has a lovely infectious quality. I love what you think because it makes beautiful pictures. You make me happy! I’m almost always fearless and, somehow, you make me feel even braver. I can do it! We can do it! Paint your heart out, sweet girl. Be you!
Oh my gosh already a new video? You're spoiling us! ❤ I only recently discovered you and your art and you have already helped me get out of a painting slump by encouraging me to be bolder and more intuitive with my brushwork. Sending lots of love from Germany 💞
PS: Also wanted to add that I adore all of your recent landscape pieces! Painting foliage in all colors of the rainbow is fantastic but there is something so charming and soothing about those vibrant grassy greens.
I love these paintings so much! It was nice to see the reference alongside the process, as it was great to see your interpretations and you breathing new life into the image. I also love how much of your traditional work shows your brush strokes (and pencil marks, on other pieces). Thank you for sharing these pieces with us
Loved watching and listening to this, you keep me company while I wrap orders, the colours you use are amazing, and you inspired me to buy some gouache, I have never used it before.
I am so in love with this landscape series, Sophie😍and these juicy colors are making me eager for summer during the cold snowy days in the States. Enjoy the weather where you’re at, girly!
Love the paintings, Sophie, and your bletherings are music to my ears 😊 You describe perfectly my journey and experiences with my art and the elusive inspiration. There's that quote by Picasso, which you've probably heard, "Inspiration exists but it has to find you working", and it's so true, isn't it? I'm rubbish at coming up with ideas to start drawing or painting, so this year I'm doing a sketchbook challenge that provides prompts and exercises. Even if I don't vibe with the prompt initially, once I get started things start to flow and I end up loving it. I also feel good afterwards because I actually made something, you know? It's teaching me so much about my skills and my approach to art and its all good! By the way, I also get bored super quickly so I switch backwards and forwards between traditional art and digital, or mix up my subjects or materials. My Instagram grid probably looks a little chaotic, but no apologies, this is my journey, I'll share it but I'm cool if it isn't a huge success. I'm loving it and that's all that matters. There, I've had a blether too 😊 Warm hugs to you too. Keep doing what you're doing, I love it 💛
I’ve been trying to figure out what to do when I have extra paint left over and I think I’m gonna start putting blobs on canvases for my future paintings! Love the texture and pops of colour that show through your paintings🎨💚
I deleted my instagram at the beginning of the year because it was just giving me nothing and taking all my time away, TH-cam is so much better to pop on the background and relax, chill out, like your videos 😊
I’m so sorry to hear about that scam account; I saw you post about it on ig and I couldn’t believe how crappy it was. Some people have such a neck on them like. Anyway, I’m glad for you that that got sorted! 😊 This is really such a beautiful piece again Sophie, but I feel like such a broken record each time I say that! XD It must be so boring for you to read over and over. I bought my first clayboard panel the other day after watching all these painting videos, but it’s just sitting in my studio staring sadly at me. 😂 It’s the blank-page fear. I really must try your technique with the blobby backgrounds first, but then I get hung up about which colours I want to use. I’m exactly the person you talked about who waits too long for inspiration. Your colour choices are as usual, chef’s kiss. I also really love how the background blobs give such a natural texture, it makes the whole image look very organic. It’s amazing how that pink base gives such a romantic and fairy-like atmosphere. Alright, I need to flex my own creative muscles now! 💪🏻 Cheers!
Ah thank you friend ❤❤❤ If you end up mating the base blob colours you chose - you can just paint right over them! Enjoy the process, you'll make something BEAUTIFUL! ❤❤ lots love
