You take camping to a whole new level when you have an art studio in the tent! I love it! I'm going to have to revisit plein-air. I've tried it in the past, with very little success. Your explanation and understanding of the process makes me want to explore this once more. Now all I need is to put together a plein-air kit! -runs to the storage room to rummage through my art supplies. By the way, thanks for posting your videos. I wait for each and every one.

I feel ya, it's tough. But overtime I learn that the challenges are where the growth lies. I'm getting into it and sure I'm going to do more. My pleasure ! I'm just happy there's folks who enjoy watching. Thank you!

Beautiful, Chuck! I could tell, from listening to you talk, you've gained a lot of knowledge during this process. Your ability to absorb all that, and being able to transfer it to canvas is fantastic!!! Having knowledge is being "smart" - using knowledge is "intelligence". Your usage of your knowledge is creating beauty. Phenomenal!!!

Very nice...I live the subject of the painting..as I grew up in the desert southwest. Had you thought about leaving the painting in its more impressionistic form?
I am also an artist, living here in the Austin TX area. I really enjoy watching other paint... it's always a great way to learn.

Thanks Larry, I have yes and still may in the future. However for my personal purposes I'm wanting to work on my technique and it helps me to continue working on these to try and understand what I maybe should alter or change in my approach. Thanks again it's nice to hear that!

@@chuckblackart I don't if you have heard of Johannes Vloothuis, but I have taking online workshops from him since 2015. He is really good teacher...and your painting kind of reminded me of his style...except he's a tad more on the impressionistic side.
But...keep up the excellent work, being disabled has had me social distancing since 2011!!!

I liked your suggestion of mixing Gamsol and Liquin, an brushing it over your painting, to "bring it back to life." I tried it--mixing a bit of Gamsol with much more Liquin, and brushed the mixture on an old painting. I did not think the process "brought it back to life." Wonder if I might have done something wrong. How would you describe your method for doing this?

I completely agree with a comment bellow, from Justice Warrior: that the painting was done in 2:45 !! I liked everything better at that point, the sky, the mountains, the trees and ground (mostly because of the brushwork and less saturation). You are an amazing artist, Chuck, and its a matter of personal opinion really, but you should consider putting the brush down way earlier! Keep it up

I love your technique! I'm a beginner in painting and I dont feel like I'm getting anywhere. I'm not sure why but it feels like I'm regressing in skill. It might be my brushes? I use pretty cheap supplies, do you think that could be what's holding back on the quality?

RSJ-Texas Pretty much. I used to plein air paint for years but until I started to use reference photos taken from more attractive places than where I live and paint from that did I start to make a ton of sales in my art and the tighter nature of the work appealed more to the lesser art knowledgeable and exposed people.

Plein air painting act as a substrate for a good painting at home , in reference photos u may sometimes lose the original colors in nature, and the scene becomes contracted as compared to a big view of plein air, u need to incorporate the information from plein air into the final painting made from reference photo , plein air study augments the final output

I'm doing it purely for the sake of learning and expanding my knowledge. Already I've been punched in the mouth with how difficult it is to master, and in that I see potential for growth. I'm not sure what that will lead to, but I'm curious to see it through. It's a fun addition to my regular work and nature is where I'm happiest
