    Brace yourself for a "live" step-by-step guide on how to remove the transmission and clutch for replacement. This video is for those who really want to take on the challenge themselves or for those auto shops who just want a heads up of what to expect for the job they are about to do. Theres many ways to skin this cat but this would be more tailored for the DIY folk. No special tools were needed but the only note here was that the CV Axles on this vehicle were seized at the hub and I had to improvise to make progress.
    This applies to all second-generation Focuses.

    Watched it all the way through. One thing for sure, you have the most patients you don't rise your voice, at one time your baby walked in and u were careful with being a pops. And u did it right. Awesome video, I'm ready to tear into my 2008 ford focus, stick shift. I've done Hondas but not a ford yet. I usually tape all the electrical and just take the engine mounts apart and lower the whole engine,seems to work better for me. I'll watch part 2 reassembly, thank u brother, I'm native american by the way. Love working on cars.

      Thank you for that response. I'm also more of an import guy myself hence the channels name but I took on this job for a friends friend.

    Thanks for making this video. May be replacing my transmission on this exact car soon, and this video gave me the confidence to tackle the job myself. Appreciate all the detail, and showing how real some of the struggle was. Also, I'm not a fan of using impacts either, but I'm a huge fan of using an battery-powered socket wrench after I've broken nuts and bolts with a breaker bar or a manual socket wrench. Saves so much time and energy. Probably the best tool I own, and wish I'd gotten one sooner.

    Great video dude. I'm a hobby mechanic / masochist myself, although far less accomplished. I'm currently ruining a 99 Mustang and about to mess up a perfectly good Ford Focus. I considered letting a shop do this until I got the estimate. It's probably going to be a bag drive, but it doesn't look impossible. From a guy hoping to do this job, the only criticism I had is that some of the bolts that you were playing with when getting the clutch cable bracket off should've been photographed and added into the video just for sake of seeing them. That said, I'm sure it'll be self explanatory without. I'm just incredibly visual and uncomfortable doing big projects, as I am sure other viewers might be. Otherwise, I loved how thorough and relaxed your approach was. I'll be following up with the reinstall video. Thanks for doing this for the world mate!

      Thanks for the feedback back. In part one of the things I'm not entirely good at is video editing. I try to share my content to help others but it may fall short at the hands of being a audio video producer

    Thank you for the video. I should say though that you had done better if you from the beginning had have removed the drive axel. It was painfull to see how you battleded to take dowm the transmission. I was thinking all the time oh, no, the splines of the input shaft of the tranny are going to get hurt, but I was worry about you getting frustated and getting accidentally hurt in the process. Said this I want to thank you again because you took your time in explaining what you was doing.

      Can't remember if I mentioned it in the video but the axle nut and the hub were seized and didn't want to come out. The only way would've been to remove the entire control arm assy. So I chose it do it how I did in the video for the sake of time and labor.

    Great job man 👍Harbor Freight makes a slide hammer kit that has a forcing screw that can be attached by one of the adapters to the hub. I have had stuck cv axels in the hub and it will press it right out with a lot of force. Also it looks like that sub frame could come down to open up that area up for easier installation an removal.

    Great job. You're very persistent in moving forward with what had to be done even tho you ran into difficulties. At age 84 I would have been frustrated with the consistent problem issues and certainly the body strength that it takes. 🙂 I'm considering doing a Clutch job on my 2007 Ford Fusion which I'm hoping will be less difficult to handle. I have a few questions about the way in which the Hydraulic Clutch release System operates in activating the Clutch Plate and was wondering if my issue of slippage could be due to too much oil pressure being held in the hydraulic oil line? The engine/trans couple only when the pedal is near the top of the stroke. The problem seems worse as engine heats up and I'm thinking that maybe the oil is expanding from heat ?? If you have any thoughts, I would appreciate your input. Thank you.

    This helped alot but i can seem to get it back in. So mine is a automatic so torque converter is also a thing to worry about

    • @manuelbou
      @manuelbou  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Make sure your torque converter is seated all the way in the output shaft

    This is fantastic! Do the focus's need to worry about adjusting the pedal free play? Looking at the master cylinder, I don't see anything that could be adjusted..?

      No, the only thing i noticed is that it is very tricky to get bled correctly.

    One thing i learned after a few hrsof wrestling with a trans in an 07 is if you drop the subframe itll come right out… apparently you can rotate it counter clockwise so that it clears the subframe but it didnt work for me. problem is i cant find an easy way to get the trans back in… jack doesnt rly help and im not muscling the trans up in it lmao

    • @manuelbou
      @manuelbou  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Get an engine bay mounted engine lift\holder. You can use it to pull the trans up

    If you have any information on how to get a new clutch pedal assembly, as I’ve looked elsewhere and can’t seem to find anything

    • @manuelbou
      @manuelbou  ปีที่แล้ว

      A new one probably not besides asking a ford dealer if they might find some old stock. Try ebay or a junkyard

    Whers part 2? I used your video to take mine off and replace, but i need some clarification with wires and some bolts. The bracket twards the middle of the trNny has 2 stud bolts right? And all the other tranny bolts are same sized?

    Nice job, lots of patience as cars can be frustrating to work on because they are so poorly engineered for service. I have an 09' with 125k miles, but the clutch still seems t grip good. How many miles were on this one?

    Still watching coming to terms with the fact that I don’t have the materials needed to do this and it’s not worth paying someone else to do it over just buying another shitbox when the clutch goes.
    As far as what kind of tool snob I am, I only buy tools made in Japan, the US, Taiwan, or Vietnam. Not rich enough for snap on by any means. I buy stuff like ARES, Irwin, Capri and ABN

    This is why I will never buy a front wheel drive. Too tight, too messy, too hard to work on. The savings you make in fuel efficiency, and eroded when the expensive repair bills come in for for anything in the engine bay. No thank you.,
