I wasn't an MTG player back when the og theros Gods were introduced. So I am drawn towards the Amonkhet Gods more, especially since they played a big part in war of the spark.
I think it would have been kinda close to the Amonkhet we know, since Bolas did not change anything on the Hekma and Naktamun itself, except for scribbling his horns on all the temples and such. The Trials, of course would be quite different, originally they were an event that was held like once in a decade, with a single warrior giving his life as a great honor. The Curse of Wandering(ya know, the "everyone-becomes-a-zombie-thing") , as well, was not established by Bolas, though he twisted it slightly, as it was actually meant as a gift from the plane to its inhabitants. All the undead would be stored in huge underground halls, so you could go and, I dunno, talk to your ancestors, or something. I'm not 100% sure on how zombiefication was supposed to be a present. But while 5 gods were wholly able to protect the City from harm, I come to think it would have been even more safe and protected with the original eight.
@@glaedrbruegge5613 yeah poor locus and scarab gods they lost all identity of themselves and now are just left abandoned I wonder if Hazeret will try and help them. Also I wonder if more gods can appear on amonkhet
The 5 main gods were like representations of the different mana sources and yes while they did protect the city the main protector was the scorpion god which is why it took down 3 of the gods who were still "themselves" which is why it was so hard to kill them, i don't know what the locust god's job was but the scarab god was most likely the overseer and protector of the dead.
@@cuttlefish6839 I myself am hoping that the gods aren't spiritually dead kinda like how gideon's soul went back to his homeplane i'm hoping that the 4 gods who did die went back to their plane as well and hopefully their bodies were just mere vessels so they can reconfigure back into themselves, seeing as how they are almost pure constructs of their mana sources
I hoped for a card named "Djeru, plated in lazotep" and "Hazoret, plated in lazotep" as two heros from Amonkhet using lazotep armor to travel through the interplanar bridge to fight on ravnica, returning the corpses of the dead gods, eventually reviving them on Amonkhet.
The Gods of Amonkhet really have a tragic history. First they were manipulated by an outside force. Then they were betrayed and killed by the one who they were manipulated into worshiping. Finally they are resurrected and forced to once again serve and fight for said outside force. I never truly thought about how messed up this was until now. Also it really hit me hard win Oketra died.
My girlfriend walked in while I was talking to my friend today saying Amonkhet and hit the zinger 'I always thought there was something wrong with you, now I know why'
Ivarr Hinn Beinlausi Problem is that it has been established that Amonkhet is dying, and Bolas’s actions didn’t help. Now Hazoret is leading survivors of a dying city on a dying world, so unless another Planar Bridge is made that can protect organic material, Hazoret and the survivors will die screaming as their world crumbles around them.
Ivarr Hinn Beinlausi To heal the world on that scale would require time travel. On one end, Nissa would have to be on the level of pre-Mending planeswalkers, like how Teferi phased out his country of Zhalfir when the Phyrexians invaded Dominaria, but he can’t phase Zhalfir back in sync with Dominaria now because he’s too weak thanks to the Mending. On the other end, one of the old pre-Mending planeswalkers that could have helped fix Amonkhet was Freyalise, and she sacrificed herself to help heal the time rifts plaguing Dominaria during the Time Crisis, the conclusion of which led to the Mending and nerfing of Planeswalkers, as Nicol Bolas and Liliana Vess can attest to. In short, to fix Amonkhet would require a lot of Elementalists with a lot of power, and as strong as Nissa is, she’s not strong enough.
Amonkhet was around the time I started playing mtg, so they are the gods I'm used to. That said I do plan on making a Morophon god tribal deck that runs every god from mtg history.

the oketra would be dope! it's interesting they decided to make 4/4 zombies with the eternal version and 1/1 humans with the living one.
I used to love playing myg, because I used to read the little messages under the cards. Now that I don't play, I simply watch these so I can know the lore.
Great video as always. Is Ilharg in the War of the Spark story? I read the book but I jumped some chapters haha.. can't remember seeing his name. Thanks.
Great series I loved you old 25 days of mtg for christmas.
So glad your back. Love me some lore.
Very appretiated video, I always wanted to know more of the Amonkhet Gods, thanks!
Hey, what was that Tibalt video you were trying to release?
Yeah my hopes and dreams for his return were squashed when the comics series was canceled.
The irony of his own forces ripping the stolen sparks and his very own spark away leaving him less than he has ever been, his lust for power and all the schemes ending in his weakened mortal body watched by the brother he killed left sitting upon the waters that cover the true body of ugin. Poetic that hes watched by the brother he killed in the very realm where Bolas laid low Ugin.
Maybe the forgot gods can be redeemed or something maybe even given names that could be cool for a storyline further down the road. Almost a khans timeline thing back to the plane but in the past before they where forgotten
i loved how the god eternals got worked in, i hope to get oketra as she is an awesome card
You think bolas, couldn't rez the scorpion god, because its name is forgotten?
I can't wait for more lore! Keep it up man
Glad to see you back man and I'm sad to see bontu go she was my favorite god
The new the rose set is gona be great, can't wait to see more videos!
So great that Bontu was the one that let Bolas in; only appropriate that she was the one to end his scheme.
I’m currently running a Sisay, weatherlight captain edh that summons gods and legendary enchantments. It works well.
Love your lore videos. Mtg has such a great potential for a movie series
This video is so nostalgic i came into magic during amenket block and started to get into mtg lore😁
