- This vehicle in my opinion, Modified and restored by Berg Performance is the most well rounded Porsche Cayenne Turbo in existence. Upgraded turbos, Retrofitted rear locker with OEM components, refreshed engine with lower mileage, 33" tires, Skids protecting everything underneath, re-geared differentials, onboard air, winch, lighting, and on top of being a very unique spec car, there's no warning lights on the dash!

Thank you! I'm not sure anyone's ever retrofitted PDCC, but that sounds like a world of hurt with some tears associated. Best of luck if you decide that, but you may be better off fitting some sort of quick disconnect swaybar kit.

Looks like a pretty thorough build! I just picked up a 2010 Cayenne Turbo for an overlanding rig, mainly due to your videos. I won't go as extreme on tire size, as my driving mix will be 80/20 between pavement and gravel, with just a bit of the gnarlier stuff thrown in... I just need to figure out what to do about the massive front brakes that will only fit 19+" rims. Edit: there was one chap on Rennlist that actually changed out the motor mounts from underneath on the turbo, without dropping the turbos. Dunno how he did it though!
I believe on 2010 turbo you should be able to fit 17-18" wheels. To my knowledge and in my experience, only Turbo S's came with the massive brakes. Don't quote me, but if you don't have two piece front rotors, you'll have the 18Z brakes and I've fit 17" wheels on those.
@@HarrisonSchoen This one has the 19Zs with the two piece rotors on it - not sure if it was special option or stock. Some sources lead me to believe that the 2010 and later Turbos got the Turbo S brakes. For now I've gone with a later model 19" Turbo wheel and some 255/55R19 Falkens until I figure out if makes sense to downsize the front brakes to 350mm.
@@ChileVuela Personally, I'll be downgrading my Turbo S's brakes to 18Z from a parts car I've purchased. I have been running a 265/50/20 Continental A/T though that allowed me to get on trails without worrying about punctures though!
@@HarrisonSchoen Rockauto has remanufactured 18Zs for cheap. When it comes time to change these rotors, I'll probably pick those up and get some decent rotors and pads from FCPEuro, and still come out ahead of replacing the 380mm rotors. I looked for 20" rims, but couldn't find any here in Chile, and shipping would kill my budget, so I settled for the 19"s. I'm still not sure how I'm going to get all the overlanding goodies I want here to Chile, but that's a problem for future me. Right now it's getting all the deferred maintenance out of the way and testing the truck on some trails!

It’s actually PowerFlex…I’ll install them on my Touareg, as well as the their poly sway bar bushings
I almost got a TT Cayenne but I'm glad I went with a V10 Touareg considering I do all the wrenching myself! So many jobs can be done on the Touareg in-situ despite the internet rumors, but with Porsche you don't have enough room in the engine bay to reach a magnet in LOL

I hadn’t seen onboard air implemented by tying into factory system. What is the benefit? Seems to create a single point of failure
The benefit seems to be just using the factory tank as air storage basically, for the ARB compressor!

Yes! If you have the 18Z calipers you can fit some 17” wheels

The transmission wasn’t regeared! 4.56 differentials from a V8 touareg were swapped in!

I have no experience with any Cayenne’s over 2010, but I would get it checked well and go from there!

You won't. It's extremely unlikey that you have a rear locker on your truck. They're very rare.
Why this and not a 4Runner? Or something reliable?
I'd say this vehicle will be reliable for many years to come. The choice is really personal preference though. 700hp, hydraulic disconnect sways, air suspension, and a Porsche badge. You've got to drive one if you get the opportunity.
You’re comparing a 250hp truck to a 700hp truck. Not to mention, the Cayenne (and almost all Porsches) are pretty dang reliable. Plus, heated seats while off-roading is the best way to offroad!
