The alternate versions are good. The original is not. This is because you cant fire both the missile launcher and the arm mounted weapons at the same time. WIGE movement takes some time to get used to as well, but the dual LRM15 version doesnt need to do a bunch of moving
On the other hand, this unit is really interesting. I'd like to see more promechs which can be piloted by any kind of pilot. Small, inexpensive, yet deadly machines like this one can dramatically change the face of the battlefield/Tabletop much like Omnimechs and Battle Armor have.
Rules for Protomechs are in Total Warfare. The edition I possess only goes up to 9 ton Protomechs, so the melee damage for larger PMs is unknown to me.
Flying with ground affect might be the most science fantasy thing I've ever heard. Ground affect is the low pressure zone under something that is moving over the ground at speed Not only does it only occur at speeds measured in the HUNDREDS of kilometres per hour, but it SUCKS the object DOWN Ground affect should smash the Svartalfa into the dirt, not allow it to "fly"
I've yet to use one on the board, but the idea of it intrigues me.
There is potential in the design.

Ok... How do the rules work for this machine?

I know, but the sources say otherwise.🤷♂
I don't like the static effect you're using on the ProtoMech's image. It's hard on the eyes.
Sounds like you need better eyes
