    The RPHA70 was on my shortlist for new helmet and has now shot to the top of the list! I use a Cardo Freecom 2+ and the recesses in my AGV K3 SV are too far back so, the speakers dig into the cartilage of my ears, very uncomfortable on long rides. Excellent video I had a GT air 2 With the air vent exactly like your old helmet. I didn’t worry about it that stuff is absolutely marvellous I’ve put it just above the air vent on the bottom and when I clicked it down to open the vent I left it for about half an hour and then slowly clicked it up leaving a groove I got a very sharp instrument to scrape off the wet mould plasticine from the air vent and used a baby wipe to clean it up where it was shiny

Gonna replace the muff with a deadcat to reduce noise spikes, which is currently an issue for me.

    Superb insight from start to finish. Be good to see how the mic fairs with wind noise, the Bain of my life. Sugru what an invention.. Is that an invention? creation maybe..,dunno but great anyway. How anyone can give this a thumbs down baffles me. Perfect video buddy. 👍👍👍

      Thumbs down are just a part of the landscape! Without them, the ups wouldn't be so rewarding! 😜 On first testing, sadly there was a bit too much wind noise. I'm going to try it with the mic actually stuffed into the cheekpad and further away from the bottom next time.

    Just and FYI, RideTech Moto make a nice 3D printed GoPro mount made specifically for the RPHA 70ST helmet. It even comes prepared with the 3M VHT tape ready to stick. I'm using one on my 70ST and it's a really good solution and no need to mold the Sugru.

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      COuld be worth a look in the future. FOr now, the Sugru is providing the lowest profile solution and holding fast!

  • @itsallaboutpride

    Got Rpha 70 for two years now, I like it a lot, great aerodynamics, good thing for a naked bike. Only minus is quite narrow visor. For go pro I use dedicated 3D printed central mount, costs like 10€.. don't cover any vents. I would paste a picture here but I cant do that :D

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's very good to know, thanks! The narrowness of the visor doesn't bother me too much top to bottom and the width seems pretty good for a 'normal' full face. I considered the 3D printed options too, but decided to go with what was already sitting in the fridge and waiting for a project! 😁

    Great set up mate ,I have 2 hjc helmets one is the cheaper cs-15 I use on my short commute and I have just purchased a Rapha 70 for more touring longer journeys and find them good comfy and stylish lids,the one negative I have with both is that when I take the helmet off I'am left with a red horizontal mark on my forehead from the inner lining,it usually goes away after about 10 minutes or so,if hjc had designed the liner a bit better the helmet would be perfect,cheers.

    Solid guide video and great looking setup. I've got an RPHA 11 & cardo-slim myself, its a great combo. I also went the custom chin mount route, I've done them several times for myself & my friends using masking tape & 3m mount tape (removable if needed that way). Appreciated the fridge tip, just a heads up for future tho, pretty sure Sugru is epoxy putty which is toxic. Not something u wanna get on your skin. That said, ur mount came out super clean. Nice job✌

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Brian. HJC are doing great work lately! Thankfully Sugru says the ingredients are safe enough even for prolonged exposure to the skin. So no worries about my fingers falling off any time soon! Well, not because of Sugru, anyway...

    • @bigb27me
      @bigb27me 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AndyManCam To clarify, the masking tape is just temporary for making the mold. That's actually good to know about the Sugru, I think I'll try it out next time. It's tough to shape the epoxy as smooth as u got the Sugru when wearing gloves. Wish I could get away without using the tape but I like going to the track & although it's no prob @ my local, I've been told that some won't allow any mounts, cams or mods to ur safety gear. Anyway, tthx &great vid ✌

      @@AndyManCam Btw, don't u think its bizarre that custom helmet mounts aren't all over amazon/ revzilla etc? Especially considering that almost every rider Macgyver's some kind of cam mount on their helmets these days. Seems like it would be a no-brainer to me...

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It certainly seems like they're proliferating all over eBay though. I've seen at least 5 different designs for the RPHA 70. I just preferred to use the materials that I already had to hand!

    Sugru is great stuff, I use it for my chin mounts too and once it's on there you can pick the whole helmet up by the camera if you really want to. In my last crash I ground the camera down the road as I slid and it didn't budge.
    Minor point with the vid though, I personally found the yoyo music volume a bit offputting, just a level low volume would be preferable for me rather than boosting every time you pause for breath. Minor ting though

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It really is good stuff. I personally see it the other way around. I don’t like when the narrator in a video stops talking, and the music remains inaudible. Personal taste i suppose.

    Compared with earlier versions, I find the “sleeker” RPHA 70 is more than challenging to wear with glasses and next to impossible with thicker “protective” riding classes. Anyone else out there have a similar experience?

  • @riderramblings
    @riderramblings 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Run the speaker cable over the top of your head _under the lining_ as, usually, one of the antennas is in that cable so better range. Well, that's the theory... 😀
    Don't forget the white reflective stickers if you're visiting France. (That'll screw up the nice looks of the helmet)

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would be inclined to believe that the antenna is in the blade that slides into the helmet. It seems a bit over-wide and thick for the purpose it performs. In any case, first test of the intercom with TLR showed no problems with range, so that's good. I'd also be worried about the cable over the top causing some discomfort. YOu know the story of the princess and the pea? that's my head!

    You should drill holes in the clip to keep the vent working.

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Could help when the camera isn't on, but then I don't ride very often without a camera, so it probably wouldn't help very much. Plus larger round holes tend to whistle in the wind. TBH that vent is a bit pointless in my opinion as it's so close to the wide open bottom of the helmet anyway!
