As a rule ,people who play guitar can appreciate others who play guitar well , even more so. I am 72 and have been playing for 55 years. This person has spent many many many hours learning to play guitar . He is also very talented and knocks this song instrumentally out of the park.

This guy is an artist and an entertainer. The problem with today’s music is they have all become entertainers with zero artistry involved. Rock on dude.
Felt a bit too masturbatory. He was out of time often and definitely overplaying the whole thing. A beginner player would hear this and think its good, because they'd be impressed by the speed. Technically good, but lacking in taste.

He demonstrates a lot of control and command of the instrument, and exploits almost every timbre its capable of. Yes he's playing more notes than he is leaving space but that's the nature of the style of guitar he's chosen to undertake, that style being "virtuosity". other guitarists in this vein of music, ie Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Malmsteen would probably all agree that this guy is really good. Might not be your cup of tea, I'll admit it's not really mine, but he definitely doesn't suck.

A lot of mistakes, and a lot of going balls deep all the time. Fine if it was his own piece, and he was actually feeling it and making interesting lick choices and good use of dynamics. But its not, and he isn't. So he comes off as an amateur who just wants to show how fast he can play, destroying the song's identity in the process. Can he do that? Sure he can. *Should* he? Well, I think maybe he *should* have some tact instead.
@@apolloptx I disagree with you bro, he employs dynamics at all levels throughout, and he does have good licks, look at the first bar and a half of the run that starts at 4:12 harmonically that is REALLY good, guitar aside, if you notate that and juxtapose it to the chords it is a good musical idea with a lot of substance. But to say outright that "he sucks and only dumb beginners think this is good" is pretentious and kind of a joke though man.
I'm lost for words. I was expecting another bland cover of this classic song. Instead what I got was a magic carpet ride through the kingdom of sound. My ears just ate a thousand starburst lollies. Absolutely brilliant and so damn original. Thanks so much for posting, your music lifts my spirit.

Insane cover! The number of techniques thrown in here, some people can't even properly master in one single lifetime. This guy has total control over the instrument, bending it to his will together with the amplifier to obtain amazing tonal qualities...you need a lot of time to actually listen and master how to evoke those tones from a guitar...and then to apply them to the effect like how this kid does so flawlessly, is something else entirely!
I want to hate this, not sure why, but I can't. I want to say you overplay but dude you hit everything so smoothly. It's a really interesting take on one of my favorite guitar songs and you are an amazing guitarist.

Guitar wizard - nothing wrong with making the song your own. We all love the original and yes that is a simpler version... but this is your version, and it's very impressive!
Knopfler is one of the greatest minds behind the guitar. He doesn’t leave anything out, he purposely places ringing notes as musical space to allow the listener to process what they just heard. This guy removes all of that. Though he is very talented technically, he ruined the song.
He's doing something really unique with his take on the song whilst honouring the source material. Not many cover artists have the ability to own a cover like this and keep it fresh with new takes on old ideas. I am impressed!! Well done son🔥💚

Just recreating it flawlessly is enough to give most fans goosebumps. I get that its too simple, slow, and boring for him, and so he tries to add to it, but that isn't too dissimilar to when a singer tries to do runs instead of keeping it simple like everyone loves. Still, obviously wouldn't downvote - the kid has heaps of talent. Just folks like me will now google and listen to the original. :D

There is a guy on here who on the street with an electric guitar doing scales fast and tapping and everyone thinks he's great. I put up what he's doing is not musical and its a load of crap and I'd walk on by. This guy I would definitely stop and listen to what he's playing.
