Thank you for this video! Do you have to change the sand in a sand filter after a black algae outbreak?

I don't think that is needed. It only lives on surfaces and I don't think it can live in sand.

Hey I just want to say thanks for your videos. I wouldn't be able to care for my pool by myself if it weren't for the content you put out (and TFP forums!). It's appreciated.

I am treating my pool for yellow algae. So I’ve brushed the walls and floor very well and my pool is 30,000 gallons. I used the yellow treat and used three cap full as per the directions. One cap per each 10,000 gallons and so I also shocked the pool with three gallons of liquid pool chlorine. This was all done right before sun down. Now my question is how long should I wait before swimming?

Until the pool looks clear. Even if the chlorine level is still high it is safe at 10 ppm.

Swimming Pool Tips, Reviews & How To - SPL The pool looks awesome today. The chlorine level is still elevated but that’s cool. Do you feel I should sanitize all my equipment as well? I was told that if I reuse my equipment and don’t sanitize it then I would be contaminating the pool with the yellow algae again. I do run my pool filter on low 24/7 so how this happened I’m not sure.

Do I have to sanitize all my pool equipment ( Hose, brush ect ) after treating the pool for yellow algae? I was told if you don’t this will re introduce the algae back into the pool.

What's the second go to for black algae? Algi ban isn't something I can get locally. Would yellowtrine work for stubborn black algae?

Nothing really will work on a bad case of Black Algae except the Trichlor Granular. You can order it online on sites like eBay.
