Jesse these tech videos have been great. I gotta say thanks to you and Bruce.
Yes excellent stuff!!
Thank you! Im glad everyone has been loving them. Hoping to have a bunch more!
Perfect timing. Watched the video for reference, ordered a set of C&A XCS last night!
Love it!! Good choice as well!
Bruce is the man!...dude knows his stuff!!!
yes he does!!
Best explanation of the C and A skis ive ever seen . I put the RZRs on my 2022 Doo Renegade XRS Competition package . BTW , you met my friend Dr Mark in Cville last night
Glad it was a good breakdown of them! And yes i did! awesome guy!
Spendy little suckers! I do not understand how you dont have more subscribers. Love all the info you share! Thank you for time put in.
im trying to get that number up believe me!!!!! Appreciate the support!
Awesome I love watching this Channel. It's my favorite
Thanks Darrell. Really appreciate that!
I have a 2022 xcr 850 136. I put xcs’s on with 9” shaper bars. yes more steering effort but man is it on rails as well as having more floatation for deep powder. way less snow coming up in your face. I can tighten the front track spring to lighten steering effort but haven’t played with it much yet.
Yessir!! They work great which is why I run them! I have mavericks this year instead of the shapers and they would amazing. Many people want to turn but don’t want the additional steering effort which is impossible to accomplish. I will run my XCS’s until I don’t ride anymore!
What are the Polaris gripper skis set up for?
Again.. great videos. I bought CA xts , followed some of your other videos. My sled has never been better. No I gotta figure out clutching 😬😬😬
love to hear that! i wont run a sled without them!
I always wanted to try a pair of c&a skis but was always scared which ones to get. I am going to try that trick with the plastic under the rubber. My skidoo renegade was bad for running on the front of the ski. I.will try it on my new backcountry if we ever get any dam snow.
Alot of the factory sleds have that issue. Its a ski rubber issue honestly
Bruce mentioned placing a small piece of plastic under the rear of the ski bumper. Just how thick might that “shim” be?
about 1/4 inch. its not much
Thanks for the info and the great content on your channel. Bruce Sr. is like an encyclopedia for snowmobiling, loving the collaboration between you two.
Thank you! Glad everyone is loving it. Yes his knowledge of these sleds is just never ending! Extremely thankful we decided to get together!
Bergstrom used to give a shim kit when you bought carbides from them to go into the stock skis . Could you do a video showing the dimensions and placement of the shim for the Cand A skis?
What is the dimensions of the ski shim for the C&A skis? 1/4” thick by what length and width? Thanks!!
Keep the videos coming , great job
Thank you! appreciate the support!
I have steel skis. They're pretty nice.
the steel skis are nice?
@@JESSEJAMES322 Yep.
Any chance you could do a, if this, do this, video regarding suspension set up. I chased a handing issue for 2 years it pushed the corners. I corrected it with a set of C&A’s xpt’s Super happy with how it handles now. I found I like my sled right on the edge of darting and I just could not get there with a set of stock skies
I have a fairly new set of XPTs (2022) and I was wondering if after a couple seasons or so, would it be a good idea to swap sides with the rubbers? I have a sidewinder and it's set up right now to where the spindle spacers are on the inside of the spindles. If the rubbers started to "indent" on the outsides, rather than having to buy a new set could you just swap them across or would you recommend just buying new ones? Thanks and great video!
I would recommend buying new ones, Those rubbers take a beating so its worth it to grab a new set to avoid faulure. Not that ive ever seen one fail but still
Yes shiming works I did it on my sled Bergstrom sent me shims with my new carbides I got from then works awesome! News on our sleds Monday from Polaris what sled you riding to start the season Jesse!?
I dont know yet hahaha. Going to have to get with Bruce and figure something out!
I dare you ! Give your opinion on Slydog skis , I run the 8 inch powder hounds on the trail , 10 inch carbides they’re awesome , I’ve run C&A before , they’re nice , but I like my Slydogs better , catch me though the trees , in the U.P. Maybe I’ll think again , but your also chasing a SLP Performance Edition Motor , hope your Brave !
I have a g4 skidoo and with those white C and As I have the ski pressure is insane! I have to put borderline to much effort in trying to steer it. I feel like I need power steering from a dam truck to get those dam skis to turn!
G4's have heavy steering as it is. You can crank the FTS spring in and that will reduce ski pressure. That will help
@@JESSEJAMES322 ok I will try it. Thanks!
Another great video bro!! Ty.. so what ski should i use if I do 60/40 riding, and what skeg.. not that up on ski's tell ya the truth.. I know ur probably busy as crap so no worries if u don't get back to me.. ty for video's!!
so its alot of rider preference but the woodys line up has a ton of options. are you running C&A or stock skis?
@@JESSEJAMES322 I'm running stock. Never ran others ..
Hi,
Great video. What do you recommend for a 22 TCat with power steering? Intermediate trail riding, slightly aggressive. Not sure if I should run the XCS or XPT? What size bars ? Running a Prestudded track.
if youre not super aggresive you can go with the XPT's and some 6 or 8 inch bars. I run Woodys Maverick. best ones ive ever run
I've run both the RZ's and the XPT's on my ZR 8000, and Bruce is spot on about these 2! I'm thinking of the XCS's but was worried they would be too aggressive?? How do they compare to the RZ's? I like the positive secure cornering with the RZ's but the low speed steering effort is a thing :-) The XPT's seem to be a good compromise between better than factory trail accuracy and better off trail but not as precise as the RZ's, but also not as much steering effort .
If you think the RZ's are too much at low speed the the XCS's will definitely be too much. Which i agree about that but when im doing 100+ i want to turn when i want to turn so i will deal with the more effort when going slow
@@JESSEJAMES322 Thanks for the feedback! That's good to know, I'm a pretty strong guy (upper body) and I'm sure I can handle it, but for how long? I'm fine with my RZ's, but after about 100+ miles I start feeling it in my shoulders :-(
Some of the guys I ride with are fans of NO studs and prefer the "drifting" method of corner to corner racing. I'm more into the "point and shoot" method, relying on good ski to steering feedback with aggressive skis and good traction in the rear( I run 144 studs).
I drive a Camaro ZL1 in the summer and prefer the flat cornering, good sticky tires and stiff suspension for my lap times @ a track, not drifting! I feel this carries over to my riding style on a sled :-)
I've watched your videos of you tearing the trails up :-0 You are defiantly AGGRESSIVE, that's how I ride! My buddy is a slow poke so I can't do what you are doing with your friends :-( You can tell you are familiar with his riding style and the trails you are riding on, confident on your sled and last but not least, you can tell you've raced snocross !
I’m gonna race in cross country next year but I don’t know which c&a skis I should get, which do you recommend?
I run the XCS model. I know a lot of cross country guys that run the RZR's. Its really all preference but most likely would recommend one of them
I’d like to hear Bruce and your opinions about ice scraper’s, I ride in Michigan and it’s 2 miles of icy roads to get to the trails. 21’ xc850le
we actually just had this discussion and we are trying to find out for ourselfs what the best option is. The ones hes tried in the past he didnt like. We are actually looking into the BRP tunnel mounted ones
@@JESSEJAMES322 , those are actually on the top of my list also, I like the clean install. Love the videos with Bruce btw, great addition to the channel. 👍
I’ve used the BRP rail mounts on my last two sleds (17’ assault and 20’ Indyxc) and they work great. Only downside is they don’t have replaceable tips and only last a season.
thank you! Everyone seems to be happy we are working together which is so aweosme!
@@JESSEJAMES322 check out one rig designs. They have mounts for the skidoo/spi rail mounted ones that require no drilling. That's what I have for my non existent VR1 which will hopefully arrive soon.
Hi Jesse, do you loose any hard pack performance with C&A skis over stock? If no then why does Polaris not change their ski design to more of a C&S style? I have a 19 switchback assault 144 I like the stock skis but when I get into a few inches of fresh pow I can’t hold a turn as well as the same turn in hard pack.
no you wont loose any performance. Polaris needs to design a ski for the masses. C&A's will be to much rider input for them to put on all sleds. But if you are looking tot turn and have some more bite these are the skis for you!
Do you guys alter the toe at all from the stock polaris spec?
Not alter no just check It from time to time to make sure it’s not way out!
I’ve been wanting to order a pair of xcs skis. What carbides do you prefer
any of the woodys line up is great. really rider prefernece of how much bite you want to put!
What is with the bed in your garage ?
My Garage is also my apartment at this moment in time!
Hmmm
We need dealers to have Demo skis at events so we can try different combinations on our own sleds similar to sled test rides, the prices they charge they can afford to let people find the right ski with making decisions at 400$ a pop! 😆
isnt a terrible idea! But thats also a tall task to do and set up!
Where are you riding this weekend?
I will be in Tug Hill this weekend
@@JESSEJAMES322 sweet
Wrapped my sled this year.
If Bruce is going to be a constant feature in your vids, get both of you guys a mic. Many times it hard to hear him, and he is the one with the main knowledge to offer......
in the works. i do believe he did a much better job this video from previous ones though
Newer trail sleds need WAY WAY WAY more weight in the front end. I got use to a 2006 Attak with Aggressive Snow Trackers. You could be going 100 mph and turn and it would turn. Absolutely no one could keep up to you on trails. It was like being on a roller coaster.
newer sleds sled up properly with C&A's are amazing. Its the only ski I will run
@@JESSEJAMES322 I might have to try that. I have a 2022 Renegade 900T now and no matter how you set up the suspension it acts way too light in the front end. I guess that's a symptom of all Ski-doo though. There is way less ski pressure on sleds today than there was just 15 years ago.
do you feel like its pushing still?
Good trail but horrible for mtn /backcountry riding. They are a very stiff skis and arent flexy enough for sidehilling and like to force you off line = downhill lol. But man on trail I loved mine
See thats info i just dont know because we dont do that type of riding but i appreciate you sharing that! I wont ride without them on trail!
If it helps anyone the shim that Bergstrom sent me was only about a quarter of an inch thick...
Thats all you need really
