@@pkingglazersout6665 me too exactly ! Just watched this video to feel the gameplay and game of LA Noire. But it was so well captivating that I got hooked to it and can't leave. It's worth the buck paying for this game, more than a movie ! BTW, this game was featured in a film festival too !
For those who don't know, the Central Receiving Hospital was a city owned hospital which was attached to the central police station in Los Angeles until a standalone campus opened in 1957. It was closed by the city in 2005 after more than a hundred years of operation, and then demolished to make way for Rampart Station.
Another related fact: the developers of the game used real-world maps of LA’s downtown area in 1947 to create about 90% of the buildings and locations that are in game and would’ve been present in the time period the game is set in. As well as this, the game also includes real interiors and movie props, and accurate costumes for the time period. There are also some in-game characters; that are mostly unseen, but were real people at the time the game is set in (1947). And some of the cases, such as the Black Dahlia, are based on real crimes that occurred in LA in the time. Devs did their research without a doubt!!!!
I love Cole's realization of how corrupt his department is he realizes that the traffic people are the only good cops and the rest are corrupt like homicide will signal out a single individual and no one else and when he figures out the mass murder culprit he's forced to stay quiet about the identity of the killer due to politics and has to rely on his department tampering with evidence to get those people out of prison and he realizes the vice department doesn't take drugs seriously and just ignores the fact that deals still happen and all they do is sit back and limit the supply while spinning stories for fame and fortune
@@wessmoore7894 Arson is for the people they can't fire without garnering public attention, but want shut up. Cases for Arson are rarely solved, as most of the evidence is burned away. In other words, the LAPD's trash bin.
1:22:33 I love the moment Phelps basically talks about 3d graphics. Back in 1940's that would be something beyond regular man imagination. Except maybe for few physicists and mathematicians. So Phelps really is a smart guy. I really like that game. Very immersive, While playing it, You almost feel like you were living in that era.
Either way i think at some point in the game they mention Phelps’ education. He went to Stanford so assuming he wasn’t just in there via nepotism he was an intelligent man.
Lets appreciate the female on the phone for tirelessly saying "how can I help detective" through all of cole's cases even after cole's reputation was wrecked
FeelsBadMan back then they used newly MotionScan technology and 32 surrounding cameras to capture actors facial impressions... it’s extraordinary compared to other developers. Like what *Drew* mentioned, expensive or publishers are too lazy and greedy to make quick cash from micro transactions and breaking boundaries is not their first priority!
FeelsBadMan well honestly the money is better spent somewhere else. In most games you don't look that close into character's faces because you're too busy shooting or getting shot in the face; with this game you spend a lot of time talking to people, staring them in the face. And well, it'd get kinda annoying to always see the same "blablabla" animation on everyone's mouths
I think the closest thing might be Until Dawn in terms of recent games. But why waste the money on this when we can milk GTAO dlc until the end of time?
12 years on and this game is still a masterpiece, very underrated. Homicide is the best desk on this game so many cases and one werewolf behind it all. Rockstar and Team bondi did a great job with this, for 2011 the graphics look much better than the newer games. Just wish the game had an extra 5 more cases, this definitely needs a remaster, It would be awesome if Netflix made a series of this. LA Noire and Max Payne 3 are rockstars best games.
@@randommf869 It has some naked dead woman, apart from that, no. And of course alcohol (some of your partners drink) and drug reference and usage by criminals.
14:25:02 Cole’s entire rant was without a doubt one of the best parts of the whole game. Not only for Cole clearly recognizing Roy’s corruption and his own part in connection to the morphine heist and Suburban Redevelopment Fund, but also knowing that Courtney Sheldon still had more honor than both Cole and Roy combined. Even though he shot Cole back on Okinawa, Courtney still had the most difficult job of being a Navy Corpsman, arguably one of the most dangerous jobs in the entire Pacific Theater. The way Cole honored Courtney here and how his voice shook as he threatened to blow Roy’s “fucking head off” was pure masterful emotion
I like even tho Cole is a by the books clinical guy in his job, he has brief bursts of emotions which are reserved for critical points of his journey: Roy mocking Sheldon’s death and when he and his platoon come across the burning civilians he ordered to immolate in that cave on Sugar Loaf.
'I'd say on a scale of dull to scintillating, you're solid tedious today, which you can be pleased with.' - Roy Earle. My favourite line in the whole game.
An absolutely incredible game ahead of its time (imo) and VASTLY underappreciated. I long for another game like this to release, it was absolutely phenomenal.
As a fan of the TV series Mad Men, I was very surprised at just how many other people from that show made appearances in the game aside from Aaron Staton as Cole Phelps. This made watching the play through more enjoyable on top of an already exceptionally written plot line. There are a couple of flaws here and there and I’d also like to add it seems like this would have made a great TV series than a video game, but perhaps I’m biased because I have not played the game. Aside from that I wish that Rockstar would strongly consider making a sequel for this. It’s really a shame that this game doesn’t garner a lot of attention.
An awesome game. A great sketch of america shortly after WW2. What I personally admire even more than than the pioneering 3D-Technology is the outstanding voice acting. Aaron Staton as Cole Phelps is just fantastic.
"How can I help, Detective?" It will forever kill me that it is the same voiceover line and this woman always sounds the same and is always on the line
I just finished watching the whole thing and I'm in tears from watching Cole's funeral. So sad!!! But this is one of the most brilliant games I've ever seen. Feels like I just went into a trip on a time machine. RIP Cole Phelps. So immersive!! Rockstar games please make more of these games!
@@ihatethatyoutubedisplaysyo8106 true, but it was definitely the most realistic golf clubed face ever lol. Like, I could actually tell he was getting clubbed to death! It was impressive.
Well, its not meant To be a savage moment but rather a hint of his past. Hes embarrased of his past in marines and especially of the medal he didnt earn rightfully in his opinion. The only hobos Who might know him are very likely the returned GI's Who had heard of him in the corps. So he shuts their approaches down as fast as possible To avoid being identified
Yes. Either LA noire 2 if the game still takes place in los Angeles but in a modernized setting or the noire series of video games provided the word noire is still part of the title and part of the title will also include the name of the city that the game takes place in.. the name of the city would usually precede the word noire, ie San Francisco noire, Seattle noire, Chicago noire, Detroit noire, Miami noire, NY noire, Philadelphia noire, Miami noire
@@lambda-m1676 and the possible title would prefer to be Shanghai noire or Beijing noire depending on which Chinese city the game takes place. I'm guessing that like LA noire, the game also lets the players play as the cops of cops and robbers.. the game is probably an homage to Chinese cop movies, ie homages to Jackie chan's cop movies
12:34:23 "and I hope this puts to bed that crazy stuff you had going about Leland Monroe. You'll be calling Richard Nixon a crook next" hindsight is 20/20
The thing that got way too repetitive for me was "putting you through now" and "how can I help detective?" by dispatch. Wish they recorded more lines so it wasn't the same in every mission.
Like what? That’s what they do in real life. Do you want them to say lines that are not in their protocol? Buddy, how many Dispatchers reply “What’s up?/Good Morning/Hello/Hi, etc. Detective”
You gotta remember this was a 360 game. About 75% of the attention was focused on the real facial expressions when interviewing. Something at the time was an invention that seemed beyond it's time. But still Rockstar didn't falter on other aspects.
Considering the age of the game, the character models may not be up to par with current day games, but the facial animations and expressions actually look more real and 'expressive' than anything I've seen in any game so far. Even to this day. That is certainly one thing they got right. Don't know to what extent they modelled the characters after the voice actors, but several of the characters actually, to some degree, resembles actors I've seen in live action movies. If they touched up the character models and movements but kept the details in the facial animations and expressions, maybe a bit more grit and ambiance in the environment - could certainly lift it quite a bit. Overall gameplay still look interesting enough for a 'non-gamer' like me to wanna give L.A. Noir a try.
I wish this game was turned into a series. For all its faults and flaws, LA Noire was honestly one of the best games I've ever played. I would love it if Rockstar made a series of detective games like this, maybe in different eras or maybe just in different locations in the same time period.
There was talk of a sequel being made back in 2012 and was supposed to come out in 2016 but it never came to fruition. Shame because this game had so much potential and even the supposed sequel had some as well
@@carwhiz90 unfortunatly, la noire 'didnt sold well', developers depend to much on investors money to make a actual great/meaninful game. gta 5 will feed rockstar until fivem itself dies (which mta and samp from san andreas didnt die yet, 15 years later).

@@rubensano4860 Meh, depends on how it’s done. If he’s outright ignoring the kid, sure. If he’s got the kid in his lap and seeing what the kid wants to do in game it could actually be pretty wholesome.
I hadn't played this game in about 10 years and couldn't remember a whole lot of it, but this playthrough was a great reminder of just how great of an experience it was at the time. None of us had ever played a game like this before and on this big of a scale. What a great video to hold this wonderful experience up.

Mr. kikiabu yea
I really wonder why these insane facial expressions haven’t been used in a game since then
Probably very time consuming and expensive, it's a shame though, when i first picked this up i was blown away
FeelsBadMan because the company that worked with rockstar to make it got shut down a while after this was made
I think the closest thing might be Until Dawn in terms of recent games.
But why waste the money on this when we can milk GTAO dlc until the end of time?

Can’t forget about Bully!
@@98Cheyo bully is considered a classic if I am not wrong.
It’s really a shame that this game doesn’t garner a lot of attention.
.
The two women who did the casting also did it for mad men. It ended up being a very good idea, as some of them already had acting chemistry
I don’t think this game needs a sequel. This specific story doesn’t need to continue but this style of game with another story would work.
Yeah rockstar should do this style of game in a 1970s new York that would be very cool in that time period.

You gotta remember this was a 360 game. About 75% of the attention was focused on the real facial expressions when interviewing. Something at the time was an invention that seemed beyond it's time. But still Rockstar didn't falter on other aspects.
This game has the best motion scan I’ve ever seen.
Same.
