Thanks for this video. A rare but possible hereditary cause of hemiplegic migraine (especially FHM) is a genetic cerebral small vessel disease called CADASIL, which is caused by one a Notch3 mutation on chromosome 19.
I was diagnosed in 2006 and had regular, severe hemiplegic migraines several times a year for 23 years. From predrome to prodrome, each could last for up to two weeks. On one occasion, parasthesia in my right calf muscle did not reverse for about seven weeks. On a few occasions, I had dual parasthesia within 24 hours. Didn’t always get head pain but, most times I did and it was horrendous.

Could I ask why Triptans are not recommended for hemiplegic migraines?

People with hemiplegic and brainstem migraine are at a significantly higher risk of stroke. But it's a "talk to your specialist" situation - some neurologists are more open to it.
