      That's why your videos are great Mav . A lot of us have been hit hard by... well everything about the last few years. I love road trips and camping as do the vast majority of your audience , not a huge surprise. But gas prices coupled with health issues. My family has had to cancel a couple of planned camping trips . And it sucks especially for the kids. We appreciate watching your videos and living a little vicariously through your adventures. Thanks Mav. Keep on truckin

    For those who are tied down a bit more, don’t underestimate the benefits of mini road trips & camps. Find a remote spot a few hours drive away, throw a tent & some gear in your car & go for a weekend camp. Setting up a little camp, sleeping under the stars & cooking food on a fire really slows life down & is a great way to decompress from life pressures. Weekend camping can be done on any budget too.

    As a working (full time, in office) mother of two teenagers and one adult child, we can't do long distance road trips but we do tons of weekend adventures and even just day trips around Washington. We stop at "new" restaurants to try local places off the map and support local small businesses. Sometimes we hit Oregon or Idaho when time allows. Really wanted to get out to Yellowstone this summer but *GAS* and the flooding happened so that got scrapped. We call our selves "local tourists", since that is what our time and budget allow for. And it never gets old! But the price of gas and everything else has gotten very old, very fast!!

Where I am, I have housing, food, and all the extras (wifi, utilities, ect) provided to me for $130 a week, but a lot of companies will provide it for free. I'm still in my early 20s and this was the best way for me to see the West on a budget! Not to mention working a super fun job and living in one of the most beautiful places. Packed up my 4Runner with a cooler filled with ice and water bottles. As well as 2 loaves of bread and a jar of pb&j. Probably did close to 30 hours of driving, stopping every 2.5 hours for fuel. Something about that trip was special and therapeutical. Being surrounded by the canyons and mountains especially the destination makes everything all worth it. MAV, I can't imagine a life without being able to do roadtripping. I would literally curl up and waste away if I couldn't do it, seriously. I've been tent camping, motorcycle camping, camper camping, boat camping, fishing overnight camping, Motorcoach camping, NASCAR camping, beach camping, "etc. camping" for over 35 plus years! 30 of those years were 7 months out of EVERY year! To say that Wanderlust is in my DNA is an accurate statement. For me and my husband it is simply How We Roll. !! Our former careers were intense ones so camping was our down-time and helped to keep us balanced in our weekly jobs. Now retired, it's our 10 months a year lifestyle...wouldn't change it for anything else. Life's GOOD! Be GOOD TO YOURSELF AND ENJOY IT...whatever that translates into. Be Well, Be Safe, Be Careful, Be HAPPY being YOURSELF Always 😊😘. Ps: not all OLD LADIES fart a lot, 😂🤣, just Sayin 😄. LOVE 💘 YOU TOO.

    I've been itching to do some road living but the price of gas has definitely held me back. Gas is still about 2x of what it was and for many of us, the money isn't thr only expense, when your away from work your not making any money either, really takes a toll on the books

      @CalTrask73 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, when he said $600 per week total, I thought something was wrong. If you even drove six hours per day, it would be roughly $600 per week just for the fuel at current prices (especially in a gas-guzzling pickup truck!!)---and these are prices that don't feel very stable right now, they could still go up again any time soon. I'm in a similar situation, I've been itchin' to move to a warmer state, but the prices still scare me.

      @@CalTrask73 i agree but, he sometimes stays in the same local area or city for a couple days at a time spending less on gas and if he spent his money solely on food and gas that would still be 200-300 for food and 200-300 for gas. But i definitely understand how it doesn’t seem believable considering it’s probably nearing $100 every time he fills up his truck.

    I have been working on the road for years. Slept in hotel rooms for 13 of the last 15 years . I calculated I spent 50k on rooms in 2 or 3 years. I said screw that and started sleeping in my access cab tundras back seat. I didn’t know about rigs like this( the truck and system, cooking etc. I started doing it then started watching videos like yours, initially by looking up certain pieces of gear. I am now pretty much obsessed with building a few fully outfitted rigs.( van 2002 350 econoline, my truck is a 2006 tundra, my wife a Yukon xl, and I have a old beat f250. They are all in the later stages of life due to my neglect ( I didn’t understand proper vehicle maintenance when I was a young man, I’m 33 now and I try to keep up on everything, change my oil when it looks darker , or 8k miles or so, timing belts etc. I found by trial, that I need a new long bed f250 with enough room for my dogs, a whole bunch of gear and food and tools i keep with me on the road. I travel between wyoming and California currently, sometimes I don’t pass a driver for 30 minutes, so I try to keep everything including medical, full trauma kits , fire and water purification, weapons, clothing , musical instruments , food, powerbanks , tools, kitchen, etc that I would need for an unexpected night out. That changes between seasons , I’m transitioning to winter kit now( hand warmer’s, tire chains ,blankets , heater, blah blah . I love this life, being gone on the road working, but it doesn’t work well at the moment with my wife and I trying to have a baby. It makes the 10 days I’m home every month that much better , distance makes the heart grow fonder . If certain plans I have to buy a home we are renting fall through , I’m trying to convince her we should sell all our possessions and build 1 crazy rig out, and live on the road for a year or 2 . I’m rambling now. I love your content, and your outlook on life. You will go far. Safe travels, maybe I’ll see you down the road Minnesota Maverik
