Indian railways is growing fast and the growth of indian railways is outstanding. This video i let you guys know my opinion on what changes railways needs to implement right now to implement passenger comfort and facilities. the recommendations i have are regards to ticketing and opertations. Indian railways with vandhe bharat express, Rajdhani , Tejas and bullet train will surely expand in future so here are some things to bhi implemented .All routes will be electrified to save on imported fuel costs.[ Off-the-grid solar-powered trains are planned with the installation of one gigawatt of solar and 130 megawatts of wind power between 2017 and 2022; India introduced the world's first solar-powered train and 50 coaches with rooftop solar farms in June 2017. Initial assessments of this experiment have been positive. Rooftop solar electricity is planned at stations to reduce long-term fuel costs and protect the environment, and sustainable LED lighting at all the stations was completed by March 2018 which saves Rs 500 million per annum in electricity bills.Locomotive factories have been modernised, including two new factories in Bihar: an electric locomotive factory in Madhepura and a diesel locomotive factory in Marhaura, and 2,285 bio-toilets were introduced from April to July 2014. A ₹200 billion (US$2.5 billion) partnership with Alstom to supply 800 electric locomotives from 2018 to 2028 was announced.
All the unstaffed level crossings had been eliminated by Jan 2019, and staffed level crossings are being progressively replaced by overbridges and underbridges. Other safety projects include the extension of an automated fire alarm system, first introduced on Rajdhani Express trains in 2013, to all air-conditioned coaches; and 6,095 GPS-enabled Fog Pilot Assistance System railway signalling devices (replacing the practice of placing firecrackers on tracks to alert train drivers) installed in 2017 in four zones: Northern, North Central, North Eastern and North Western; and replacing ICF coach with LHB coach.

Also trains should really change their timings.
I once had work in Delhi but the train arrival timing in delhi was 10 pm. Metros stop operating at 11pm. So I had to use bus.
Also, you have to make reservations about at least a month ago, otherwise you won't get a seat.

No. Non-ACs are very useful for short distance travel. AC tickets start from 600 rupees right off the bat. While Non-AC sleepers start from 150 rupees with a price addition few kilometres as usual.
You guys don't know about the condition of India because of a privileged life. My family always travelled in Non-AC sleepers.

@@Dr.Kraig_Ren if every coach becomes AC then the cost of AC coaches will drop. Many poor people travel in metro which is AC. AC isn't that a big luxury as u think... it's priced much higher because there are few of them and government wants to earn as much money as possible from AC tickets as non-AC coaches run on heavy losses. Once DFC is fully operational, govt will be able to further cut down costs of passenger tickets... The video is not talking about banning non-AC coaches right now, it's talking about stopping its manufacturing so that an all AC fleet can run after 2 decades

I agree with your Point 1 of implementing access control in Indian Railways. But that's simply not possible considering the size of its network. Metro systems are mostly limited to urban areas with around 100-300 stations. They are either underground or on viaducts so people can't trespass anyway.
On the other hand, IR has a more than 7,000 stations across the nation. There are many super remote or small stations with a weekly footfall of around 100-200 people. Because of these stations, IR can't switch to advanced ticketing systems as changes will have to be same for every station.
Also, politics plays a big role. In fact, that's the reason Kolkata Metro built by Indian Railways is still backward than Delhi Metro.
Hence, building access control infrastructure would be super expensive if not practically impossible for Indian Railways considering its scale. Adding boundaries at stations won't be a good financial move for smaller stations.
However, they can put restrictions on bigger stations at least. Awareness is also a major issue. How many people actually buy the platform ticket?

My Wish: IR should invest in separate tracks for faster trains like Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Vande Bharat. This the only way these trains can compete with flights. A typical DEL- BOM 2.5 hour flight eats almost 6 hours of our day with the pain of expensive airport food. If a cheaper train can average a speed of 200KMPH, it can complete the 1,400 KMs distance in around 7-8 hours.
We are making new expressways everyday, why not just make a railway line on top of the expressway? They could have done it with Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. I know it's easier said than done but it would be worth it in the long run.
India is directly investing in Bullet trains which are expensive to run and still take more time than a flight, hence, spiking the ticket prices and defeating the purpose. And if ticket price is the similar, more people would prefer flights.

    1. Introduction of Smartgates just like Metros to prevent non-ticket passenger entry like relatives & ticket less commuters with Multiple exit-entry ways
    2. Phase out of non-AC trains & provide AC to all coaches
    3. Provide Baggage limitations. Eases travel movement & crowd
    4. Comfort economy service. Where comfortable train without services like food, tea/coffee, others...all can be eliminated & reduce the ticket price accordingly. This will attract people to move people from general coaches to A/C coaches

Changes Indian railway needs right now!! - Make your website better to book tickets. If your website cannot do the job in first place you are losing the income. This is coming from a American who tried to book tickets from the US in irctc website and got bombarded by various ads in the website. It flashed by various ads and very with no easy UI for mobiles. In mobile the whole website is taken by ads. And second point it make the payment methods an easy way it may works for Indians but people who live outside India also book tickets. Best example is Eurostar where payment is easy and website rocks. country of software engineers and web developers should have better website. I hope they don't allow beggars and hawkers who harass people on trains.

3 more Reforms that I would like to suggest in Indian Railways would be (more of Organisational Reforms):
    1. As we all know, Railways recently merged a lot of it's existing services into 1 Common Service called Indian Railways Management Service (IRMS). This was a big Human Resource Management Reform to help eliminate silos.
In the next phase, IRMS should be divided into 2 Services (a little deviation from Debroy Comittee Recommendations but quite similar):
    A. IRMS- Technical Service
    B. IRMS- Logistics Service
IRMSE or Indian Railways Management Services Exam which is expected to be conducted on the lines of Civil Services Examination (CSE) is a step in the right direction but once a Final list of Recruitees is out, Railways should divided the students based on their qualificational backgrounds & further requirements in Technical & Logistics backgrounds. Under Technical Backgrounds, Railways will train them in 5 former technical services while in Logistics, Railways would train them in 3 Non-Technical services. Training & Syllabus of Technical & Logistics Arm should be separate although commonality can be maintained in other things like Uniforms (as far as possible), Basic etiquette training while communication, Residential Quarters, Facilities provided to Recruitees, Basic Pay Structure, Bonus etc. This would bring specialization in the set-up. You wouldn't have a Management person doing Technical work even when he doesn't have much knowledge about it.
    2. Indian Railways need to reduce their number of Zones & Divisions. In the first phase of Organisational Reforms, Zones should be reduced from existing 17 to maybe 5-6.
Under the existing 17 Railway Zones there are 68 Divisions. These 68 Divisions maybe reduced further according to a study that can be conducted by Railways. Even if Divisions can't be reduced, Zones should certainly be reduced.
    3. Railways should outsource all Non-Core activities such as running schools, colleges, hospitals etc. Infact even IRCTC Website Management as well as app can be outsourced.

    Few more points :
    1. There should be dustbins in every coach.
    2. There should be strong barriers between the platforms on stations so that passengers can't cross the track directly.
    3. There should be completely and strictly ban on smoking and tobacco.
    4. There should be regular cleaning of coach toilet.
    5. There should be passengers limit in every coach so that croud might be controlled.
    6. There should be atleast 4 and 4 each male and females constables to ensure public safety.
    7. There should be only 2 emergency pulling chain in every coach so that the anti-socials who pull chain uselessly can be stopped.
    8. Speed limit should be increased for local trains also.
    9. Stoppage time of any train on a station should be according to the ticket selled and limit.
10 No. of coaches during exams , festivals , occasion etc should be increased.
    11. Students below 18 yrs travelling for exams should get some relief in ticket money.
    12. There should be luggage restrictions.
    13. There should be automated gates .

TL;DR: running special trains on super priority lines with special access controlled platforms.
Just my 2 cents on the first suggestion. This could be implemented first for the special trains, those that only service major stations with more than 2 platforms, entry-exit controls and platform doors could enable these platforms to restrict outsiders from entering the special trains such as Vande Bharat or Rajdhani/Shatabdi/Duronto.
Indian society still has a huge population that lives close to the poverty line and needs easy access to public transport, so strictly limiting their ticket-less access could cause complex socio-economic issues if implemented, plus the job loss to a large section of Indian Railways employees.

No. Non-ACs are very useful for short distance travel. AC tickets start from 600 rupees right off the bat. While Non-AC sleepers start from 150 rupees with a price addition few kilometres as usual.
You guys don't know about the condition of India because of a privileged life. My family always travel in Non-AC sleepers.
It makes it a better alternative to polluting buses. This encorage people to use public infrastructure.

Here are some counter arguments/suggestions :
1- Smart ticketing and smart crowd control is really good idea, but trains unlike metro trains do not come after every 8-10 min. so enough waiting capacity is required in addition to technical infra.
2- Issue with putting a limit on luggage carried by individuals: (a) many poor people in our country migrate from villages to cities and and vice-versa and carrying a large luggage sometimes becomes necessary. (b) many small traders carry large luggage in passenger trains to save money , its part of our informal economy . So these angles must be taken into account.
3- Issue with AC coaches : it can be success full only when AC coaches are mass produced to lower the fares as well as income levels must also rise at the same time.
4- I personally care very little about the luxury aspects of trains but opinions on that can differ (rightly so) what i want to happen or work should start on bullet train like thing on DELHI-KOLKATA rout . i know many would argue that bullet train is not even tested on many parameters on Mumbai rout and i am fully aware of that , what i am asking is to acquire land for future high speed railway on delhi-kolkata rout as we know land acquision takes longest time.

Non AC coaches ka production band karneka ek aur ek faayda yeh hain ki trains regularly 130 km/h se jyaada speed par bhaag sakengi (after track upgrades). Agar humne tracks upgrade kiye aur kuchh AC trains ko 160 km/h se lekar 200 km/h tak chalaaya bhi, toh bhi veh non AC trains ke piiche atak jaayengi jyo track upgrades ke baavajood, sirf 130 km/h tak hi chal sakti hain.

Railway network metro network se Bohat jyada bada hai. Dusri baat metro ki frequency alag hai. Agar koi 1 metro reh bhi jaye toh passenger next metro ka wait kr skta hai but same thing Train ke Mamle me applicable nhi hoti. Kyuki agar gate pr crowding ki wajah se kisi ki reserved train reh jaye to uske pass koi Dusra option hi nhi hoga. Ek baat aur railways ko dedicated sleeper trains chalani chaiye Kyuki railways regular trains me se sleeper coach kam krta ja rha hai. Aur aaj bhi India me Bohat middle class aur lower middle class log hai jo ac coach afford nhi kr skte. Railways forcefully Unhe Ac Coach opt krne ke liye Majboor kr rhi hai. Regular trains me keval 2 ya 3 hi general coach de rhi hai jiski Wajah se sleeper and general coach me Bohat hi jyada overcrowding ho rhi hai.

I want the Indian railways to reduce car dependency in our country by making all stations (even village halts, but with more attention towards major railway stations) be amazing transit hubs with reducing parking lots and instead making better public transport and encouraging walking and cycling. This could reduce sprawling due to private vehicle dependency.
    2. I don't wanna see people walking through tracks.

    My suggestions
1)First, improve general coach train travel ..add more coaches.. Control the mass.. . Right now it is a mess ..., especially in north India...
    2) Strictly control the hawkers, hijadas and beggars from entering coaches ... Make some provision for Transgenders where some of them can be given some jobs like cleaners or security guards etc in the platform ... example is in kochi metro...
    3) Strictly control the pricing .. quality and cleanliness in the Catering/ Food provided in trains.
    4) The public needs self-awareness about cleanliness and many things then only things will improve..

Upgrading tracks to meet higher speeds. If trains like vande Bharat could average 180 kmph on its routes most train routes won't need sleeper class coaches and so those trains can be put to service in longer routes and thus more profits. And higher speeds can assist more frequency and thus more revenue.

    I strongly agree. Adding more
We should implement one simple traveling card or digital system to be used all over India at any charged transportation.
All trains should be fully air conditioning with automatic doors along with countdown timer when stopped at stations.
There should be large fencing all around stations even at the edge of station to get in the trains so there will be no last minute climb or jump from the train and no crossing of tracks just like some metro stations.
There should be no serving food to passenger in train but to have a separate dining coach to where people can eat. This will reduce the seating coach be dirty. Aslo have vending machines for snacks.
Every seated area should have a touch screen for ordering food, to check traveling journey, stations halts with time and more information.
Your digital ticket seating information should show you which station the train will arrive and which area of the station you should be waiting for your train coaches.
The should have sweet melody sound system to guide passenger for various activities such as dinning, sleeping and wake, station approaching, doors open close, emergency.
Every stations should have simple signs boards or digital to guide passenger to easily get to their trains. For example people should be able to locate toilet, stairs, lifts, slope climb for trolley bags etc.
Make every sleeping coaches train be double decker and seating coaches be single deck. With this you can adjust the train traveling distance.
Well I can write a book about this change but this should be enough for now.
