Cornering is sick. Who could you share this with?
I'm 53, and have been a MTB rider for 25 years. I've been doing a lot of things wrong, and really enjoy these videos as a way to re-educate myself. Hitting berms and linking turns are among the skills I need to learn and improve on. Thanks for the valuable video!
Sure thing! Thanks so much for your note! Fun ain’t it!
I'm 37 and haven't biked since I was 18 on a Norco Saquatch...picked up the polygon T8 (should arrive today) and Im here for education that just didn't exist 20 years ago.
So thanks!
Very good video. I’ve done this for about three years and now 68 and shredding better than ever (riding in the woods since 1961…). Strongly recommend this way of thinking for the majority of us 🎉
Amazing - that’s genuinely encouraging, thank you for sharing!
Oh man, that knee tear clip is brutal, im literally feels it.
(17 years ago im also destroyed my right knee, and yeah very stupid way)
It isn’t fun I’ve learned a ton more about recovering. I was non weight bearing for 12 weeks after surgery. Brutal recovery. Still can’t remember how to do some things. It’s funny!
I know man, i know.
My other quad still slightly bigger.
As a 40 year old dad this is exactly what i need! I'm not the slowest because i learned riding mtbs pretty early in my life but after a long hiatus i know that there are some Basics i never developed perfectly! Thank you!
Just a small crticism - your son should where a helmet always, espacially when he is in a YT-Video. 🙂
What my kids do and what I tell them is never a 1:1 ratio haha 😂 we got a rainstorm so I couldn’t re shoot. Thanks man! Being a dad is the best!
@@mountainbikeacademy yeah i know that pain. Those little buggers always have their own mind! 😀
Before you offer advice do a deep dive into bike helmets. Am I correct in assuming you have never read any of the scientific or research literature pertaining to bicycle helmets?
Are you asking me? Yeah I’ve read a handful of white papers on helmets and also checked out other studies around Leatt braces. Which doesn’t matter.
Wear a helmet. Use your brain lol. That’s my stance.
Lookin pretty professional to me 😏
Especially in those shorts 😅
Ultra pro - soon you’ll see other pros pro’ing this way
Great content! Just getting back into riding after long time
Thanks a ton! Riding is a blast! Make sure you check out that linked video in description for more detailed technique.
Good Stuff! Thanks for the info!
Any time!
Great stuff! Got to try it. thanks!
Lmk how it goes or it its just weird lol
Never thought about in terms of a lateral pump like that. I learned that principle decades ago on a skateboard, but never tried it on an MTB.
I was playing around the other day on the parking lot and was playing with the concept of turning and pumping,... like you showed in this video! I discovered it for myself and with this video im able to use the peace that I found. It all clicked together! I was not sure what to use it for but I found the momentum in the movement.. if that makes any sense hahaha
This is the difference between passive riding and being a “fighter jet pilot” so yeah I get it and it’s awesome!
@@mountainbikeacademy Whahaha I love that,... It's very interesting to learn about these techniques. Finding the "secrets" of riding a bike the Fun way,...
Fascinating how "pro's" or semi pro's fly proper through the woods and corner like satan doesn't exist ?!
Stay safe, having fun!! Cheers from the Netherlands.
@@Haagsebluf CHEERS!!!
Spending time watching your video has always been time well spent. I always learn something important to keep me safe and you always put a smile on my face. God Bless you and your family.
Hey thanks! I love making these 👏
Your presentation seems to be improving.
nice, in what way?
Gonna have to try that berm jump to see how it feels. I think I’m doing it right but one never can be too sure
Nice gladiator! I love my Mojave.
So much fun for real. I had a TJ - not really safe on the highway for family so I got this one lol
Thanks Dave
You’re welcome!
2:22 video kinda starts around here
Very nice man
SHEEDY!!! What's up man!
Watched this, went to a pump track the same day and immediately improved my cornering. Consciously turning my torso made all the difference.
Now to get the pump track reps in for muscle memory, then take it to the trail. Thanks DD!
Baller!
Hahah I'm dying. That field mic is amazing.
I like it. Plugs right into the cam. And I use it for everything.
@@mountainbikeacademy I know brother. I looked past the mic and listened to what you actually had to say. It's all good. 🤣
Hyper x quadcast I’m a true believer
Thank You, I am 64 and ride 5 times a week, You my friend have help me tremendously and now I am an animal.
Nice I love hearing it!
Is that a YT?! The sexiest bike out there?
Nay, ‘tis a Frs.
🚵👍💪❤️
It's amazing how much I've improved in mtb skills in the last couple of months, watching your videos!
THANK YOU!!! 😃
I also watch others videos too, I have spent the last one or two years on you tube, more than the last fifteen, watching mtb skills videos, and yours are by far the BEST, at least for me and a few of my friends, greetings from the Swiss Alps!!
Ayyy!!! Thanks so much for the encouragement! Alps are amazing 🙏🏻
You welcome! 😃
Felt that ACL go pop in your clip, like literally, took ages to get past it. Some people pop them and they barely notice.
Yeah no fun eh - now I'm just better equipped to help riders who've been through it too.
it is really hard to watch your wreck clip :O but thanks for the how to vids - i'm older and more conservative rider than your but want to learn as much as i can off trail vs that school of hard knocks :)
Here for you 💪🏻
1:25 god damn... didn't want to watch slow mo
No joke sorry next time I’ll warn ppl I thought about this after I published 😬
@@mountainbikeacademyI'm glad you shared, it's reality with any sport, glad to see you had a full face helmet.
I witnessed my wife have a surprise low speed accident on pavement resulting in no injuries, completely shattered helmet though. That’s all I could think about during this video.
Really enjoy all your other content though.
Sorry that happened!
Once you said berms I knew I was out. We have rock....not berms. Like nasty chunky sharp hard rock.
Same, no berms to speak of where I ride
Where do you ride? Probably the linked video in the description would help you more.
@mountainbikeacademy Santa Barbara ca. Look up tunnel trail and colds springs, and Simi Grudge
You don't realize the chance you have in some parts of America.
Where I live in the bike parks at 60$ to 100$ a day for lifts you find groomed trails and berms but what I ride the most is moto enduro trail and cross country skiing trails. Double black is not adequate to describe this mess 😂
@@LaurentiusTriarius We have a lot of variety here for sure! This is just my back yard :)
Ride like a pro, without having too train like a pro…😂
Right! That should immediately alarm you! If that were feasible, everyone would ride like a pro, thus no pro would any longer stick out as a pro.
People should just accept that it takes thousands of hours of practice combined with the right personality, mindset and talent, to get anywhere near the level of a pro.
The deep irony of your statement is that pros train 95 percent on their fitness and 5 percent riding Dh. 😂
Wears helmet while standing still dialoging. No helmet while cornering on pavement. 🤦
Good video though, I appreciate you giving us actual drills we can do that break down the concepts…good stuff!
I’m far worse at running and never wear a helmet.
Kidding yeah next time I’m throwing on the skid lid. Little guy snuck behind me without me seeing him on the first clip! Next time I’ll get him to rock his full face. He thinks it’s cool.
@@mountainbikeacademy it’s all good! I’ve been caught without the brain bucket in front of the house a few times….just thought it was funny you wore the helmet for everything off the bike 😂
@@airliftpilot All good for sure!
Great info but standing there for the entire time with a full face on is too much.
Not to be the downer but.... Kid+bike=helmet. 100%. I'm sure there are plenty of dads that see the same thing. I have a 6 year old as well.
Don't worry about justifying your credibility, just tell us your strategy!
Interesting take
Buy your son a helmet bro....Thanks for the video..
He has 3. Usually he wears one.
@@mountainbikeacademyi have 6 kids 4 under 11 and getting them to keep their helmets on all the time is so hard
Love these videos reminding us of our athleticism and how its so important is awesome thanks
@@MTBwMacc I will say a prayer for you, you gon' need it
I only have 2 kids and I just made a BIG deal of how cool helmets are and that seemed to take care of it. We will see how it lasts.
mine just leave their helmets on largely because it's too much of a pain in the rear to keep track of em. helps that all the parents in the neighborhood have agreed to troll all the kids by sending them home on foot if they show up anywhere without a helmet
The lesson is awesome but the teaching style needs work. Cheers though
No problem! Check out the other videos u have different ones you might like.
Couldn’t even 3 2 1 before the Helmet Karen’s came out from under the berms, ah well I’ll try harder, I’m going try try this jump technique in a Walmart yes Karen with my helmet ⛑️
My driveway is obviously riddled with danger
@@mountainbikeacademy haha indeed
