- Welcome to this vacation prep video! We are getting ready to go on summer vacation. The kids are so excited, but there's lots to be done! We're taking all our own food, so come along and prep and pack with me! Thanks for being here!

Jacob's tomato plant is beautiful!!! It's so exciting to grow your own food!! You did some great meal prep... it's not easy preparing meals for everyone and then packing and then doing the other hundreds of things you need to do b4 vacation! I hope you get some rest too...enjoy yourself momma...❤❤❤

Hi Lindsay 👋 😊 So exciting to be leaving on a trip! You look very organized. That's exactly what I do, I'm a pen and paper person with my lists. We love breakfast for supper. This weekend I am making some homemade waffles 😋

I've been following your family for about two months now...love your videos! 🥰 I'm in the U.S. & was just about to ask what PEI stands for when you mentioned it at the start of today's video. Oh how wonderful that your family gets to vacation at Prince Edward Island...I'm a little jealous ❣️ I've been wanting to visit there ever since I first watched "Anne of Green Gables" in the 1980's. Whew, so much work goes into packing for a vacation, especially when you are doing all your own cooking, but you prepped well and I'm sure that will be a great help for you. Breakfast for dinner is always yummy, your pancakes looked beautiful and that chicken in gravy brings back lots of memories, we always used to get that at school but as you mentioned it was usually made with ground beef, and it was a favorite. I hope you have a great vacation, fun times for each of you. Enjoy!
@@TheMtggrl Thanks, Tania. It's so much work preparing everything, but it's worth it once we get on the road. If rather bring our food and cook simple meals then go out to eat. The hamburg and potatoes is much better with ground beef! Lol but it did the trick that day! I hope you are doing well, have a great weekend! 😊
I discovered your channel, I don't know, a month or two ago? And have binged on it here and there since. I have two things i watch or am interested in on YT or anywhere and such is crime and cooking. I turn to cooking when crime is too heavy, for the lightness. And more of a blog or vlog is an offshoot from cooking as are grocery hauls which I never thought I'd watch lol but now I do.
Anyhow I am surprised you don't have more subscribers, you do a good show, have very nice kids, etc. and wishingi you well with gaining more.
I am at a far different point in life, my kids are raised and my grandkids are teenagers but I really like your channel.
I am the type of person that for one also likes seeing the differnce in prices and products in different countries and life for that matter.
You are so patient and great but I can sense the stress of the years of raising kids, again been through it lol, and requirements of school and all.
The last thing I want to say is two recipes that i have never ever bailed from is a white sauce from Betty Crocker with a cheese sauce variation, white sauce being a roux, and original Betty Crocker deviled eggs.
Your mac and cheese imo opinion is that Betty Crocker original white sauce with the variation to cheese sauce and it uses dry mustard. OMG putting it on hash browns with a steak is so good, etc. I have been to places where they think cheese sauce is putting a piece of plastic cheese on a potato. NO, this cheese sauce is the bomb.
I am old and there are probably a few others but there are SOME recipes (and I've created my own believe me) that i do not stray from. Mostly I do this and that as we all do when learning to cook but not that cheese sauce, I don't stray from it. Or the deviled eggs.
Where I'd differ is I am not one who recooks pasta in the oven but you are going away and prepping. it is best when just finished on the stove top.
Anyhow, just and old person knowing this recipe although it never called for onions in the sauce but put that sauce over lyonnaised potatoes with a fish fry or steak and yum. Or make a mac and cheese with it as you did.
The bit of dry mustard is KEY.
Long post but I hope you have an awesome time on your trip which is probably over already. I am just enjoying your channel. And I don't even have kids at home so not sure why I follow such. I do with a few. I guess because I can still identify with those years.
And i like to see different states, countries, etc. with products, prices, life and more.
Anyhow, I am hooked. And hope you have/had a great trip. it is a lot of work to give your kids those memories and I recognize that too.
it's great to see people still raise good and responsible nice kids.
Anyhow, don't often comment but wanted to give you kudos and a mom a pat on the back. We don't always get such.

I'm not entirely sure what a Meteor/Mars bar consists of, but the packaging looks like it's caramel and nougat dipped in chocolate. If that's the case, then I think it would be similar to a milky way in the U.S. Have a great vacation. ☺

wow you do so much in a day-you are an inspiration!!! All the food you packed looks amazing as does that chicken with gravy over mashed-yum yum. I remember when my kids were young doing all the meal prep before cottage vacations-phew!! When my kids were about 8 and 9 we went to PEI and had a blast. We stayed in these great cottages very close to Lucy Maud Montgomery's final resting place-in Cavendish. Nice cottages with outdoor pool and each had a kitchen. Then we went to the east of the island to a more 'golf' like' resort (for my dh) Rod something?? such fun! p.s. I am LOVING Jacob's space tomato plant-looking good!
@@lilyelizabeth9080 thanks, Lily. I think I know the cottages your referring to, we're not far away from them at all!! It was raining yesterday, so we shopped in charlottetown. Today was very hot, so we did the water park. Everyone is tired out tonight! Our cottage is cute, two bedrooms and a kitchen. My only complaint is our bed is so hard and uncomfortable. Jacobs plant is doing great! My mom repotted it while we were away! I hope you're having a great weekend!! I'll try and get a shot of those cottages you stayed in if I cna remember!! 😊❤️

It looks like you are all ready and raring to go! Cooking ahead will make your vacation so much easier on you and save so much money. I can imagine taking six out for lunch or dinner would put a major dent in a vacation budget. Just for two of us it's around the $100 mark. Have a great time.

Put the foot down. I can sense the stress. You deserve a vacation too. Cooking and shopping and packing up kids and hub is work. i have been there. If you have the funds, make it the one tme you stop and eat or buy something. I recall camping and my sisters would make all this food and such ahead of time but were stressed out and I was like no, you grab some sandwich meat, some buns, etc. a bag or two of chips, etc. and not make it more work or perfection.

Interesting that the smarties in the US aren't chocolate.They are harder crunchy candies
@@nancyfarkas3592 I find that interesting too! Our smarties are chocolate with a candy coating. We call your smarties rockets, the small coloured candy. 😀
