That's one reason I got my device. My case fits my charger and an hdmi cord, bring two 360 bluetooth controllers (for connecting to android on my rg353v) and you have a portable multiplayer console with every game you want. My younger self would be mind blown.

Make sure you have a good hub that is rated for at least 2,000 mA. Because each controller will use 1,000 mA, usually, if you use a 15 dollar hub a second controller will lag. Also, the best way to do this is to get an expensive hub that is powered and has two USB 3.0 ports, and make sure it is rated for at least 2,000 mA. You will also need a charging plug that puts out 65 watts.

    My experience here.
A 2.4g gamepad worked well but the wired one just worked connected directly, in the hub that doesn't work. I think that even with a weaker hub, use two 2.4g can do it cause they use their own batteries instead the PD from the hub. I'd like to test the Dualshock 4 with the 8bitdo adapter to do the trick, maybe one day...
EDIT: I tried another wired simple controller and it was recognized together with the 2.4g, I couldn't test it on games yet, maybe tomorrow I edit this again. And another thing, when you set the controllers you lose the MENU button, so I recommend to do it by the quick menu (Menu+X) inside the games, so when you restart the console you lose the configuration and can use the rg35xx gamepad normally.
Edit 2: I DID IT WORKING, SEE THE COMMENT BELOW

    • @mathinho_ns
      @mathinho_ns ปีที่แล้ว +3

So I tested all again today. A 2.4g and a Dualshock 4 on a usb hub with PD like in the video AND IT WORKED WELL, it was just to use the 2.0 USB port cause the 3.0 was not recognizing any controller. So again, a 2.4 and a wired controller and using a basic phone charger to power it up.
      VERY IMPORTANT THING
don't use any external gamepad as port 1, probably the LB/L1 button will shut down the system. I highly recommend put your controllers normally in ports 2 and 3 and inside the game use the Quick Menu (Menu+X) so you can invert the ports on the Control settings, so the controls will not do things they shouldn't and you can still use the rg35xx gamepad for things like menus and etc

When I tried it with stock OS, everything worked right out of the box. Used a 2.4GHz 8bitdo Ultimate C in D-input, no mapping necessary, hotplugging not a problem. With GarlicOS, setup is pretty fiddly, and I keep getting random system crashes with a controller attached. Hope his is something that can be sorted out down the line.

Hey guys, you can connect XBOX Series X/S Controller to RG35XX using 8BitDo USB Wireless Adapter 2. It's working. I really don't expect that. You just need to re-assign all the buttons using retroarch input menu. Retroarch sees it as a sony controller with 2 analogs. Just fine :)

Couple of things. The usb-c hubs require PD power delivery from the usb-c port and the rg35xx doesn't do PD, only 2.4a regular USB charging. So that's why those wouldn't work.
Also, the multiport hubs with lots of stuff on them can't run with that 2.4a power from the RG35xx. They usually need a PD power source plugged into them to function properly.

I've just bought an RG35XX. It has Garlic OS preinstalled, si no idea what version (probably latest?). I then bought an 8bitdo SN30 pro wired version with xinput (i.e. NOT the wireless Bluetooth version). I then watched this video and added the wait for usb file etc. I then connected everything up (using OTG usb etc). When I start the RG35XX it let's me navigate the menus (buttons not mapped correctly tho), but as soon as I start the game, the connected controller does not work. It also does not show up in the controller list in Retroarch. I read in the comments to use an older version of Garlic OS, but 1. I'm not technically skilled and 2. I would have assumed the issue would be fix by now (is it?) Any help greatly appreciated 🙏

Black Seraph hardcoded each key in the main file and uses only the first two gamepads, despite the system being able to handle more than two gamepads. This is why you’re having issues with more than two gamepads and why RetroArch isn’t working as expected. I tried to compile Evsieve to remap the buttons, but it didn’t work. Evsieve creates the fourth virtual device which is ignored by main program of garlic os. To fix these problems, you’ll need to wait for Black Seraph to release the source code and then rewrite some parts of it. Kinda sucks, doesn’t it?

Does a wireless Xbox compatible controller work? I guess I am going to have to get some other controller. The PS4 one doesnt work right, neither does some of the other ones I got. And I got a whole bunch of them. The closest one I could get to really working right was the N64 knock-off controller. And even that has its flaws. (like when I set it up with the left top button to be the L button it ends up shutting the whole thing off on me. ) Guess I will have to get an Xbox compatible controller, huh?

Wireless Xbox controllers might work if they connect to a USB dongle.
As for the L button powering the device off, I have seen that before.
Check out this reddit post for some insight into getting USB controllers working on the current Garlic OS.
      www.reddit.com/r/RG35XX/comments/134b4os/usb_controller_questions/
The main part is setting the USB controller to port 2, but for the individual cores you change the controller map to port 1.
I will eventually put together a "Controllers Revisited" video to cover some of this.
