@@catsmother4556 And boots! Boots with good socks make a huge difference in warmth. Edited to add: for colder climates, merino (or the performance fabric of your choice) underlayers really help, too. Cute scarves, even hats-- hey, many women back in the day wore hats indoors as part of their outfits! I was lucky enough to snag a few wool cloches when Target had them a few years back. They make a big difference in warmth and people often compliment me on them.
I wear dresses in winter, in Canada. Usually I just wear with knee socks and a simple, elastic waistband, flannelette underskirt ( I Usually make by cutting off the bottom of a worn out nightgown and running elastic around to make an underskirt ) . This is sufficient for short periods outside, like shopping. If I'm spending longer outdoors, I wear comfy long underwear with knee socks over them. I leave them bunched a bit at the top of the sock for Freedom of movement. I do make sure my winter skirts especially are long enough and full enough so that when I sit down, nothing is showing and it looks like I'm wearing tights. Very warm, and so much more comfortable than pants. I've been dressing in skirts and dresses for years, and although I like the modesty aspect, my main motivation is comfort.
I struggled for many years with finding clothing that fit well because of the shape of my body. I was a tomboy growing up and didn’t want to look “girlie.” Then in my 30s I found the answer to all of my clothing issues. Dresses meant no more gapping waistband issues with jeans/pants. I discovered how comfortable dresses are. I literally only wear dresses. I do still own some lounge pants for under dresses in the winter and I have one pair of Jean bib overalls in my dresser that I rarely wear. I will never go back to wearing pants. I feel frumpy and uncomfortable when I try going back to pants. Not wearing pants is the greatest thing ever!
I started wearing dresses again during menopause. My body changed. I'm not a big person by any means, but I found dresses to be much more comfortable. I live in FL where the summers are really hot and dresses are better for that as well. I love cute dresses with sneakers. Don't know who decided this is ok but I'm here for it!!! Comfortable, cute and put together. Done!!
Same here, post menopausal and not loving jeans anymore with the extra meno belly I've now been"blessed" with. My other problem is that we has a small homestead here in Texas and I have to daily deal with dogs, chickens and goats... and they love to head butt or brush my legs when dealing with them! 😂 I suppose I could find outside work dresses and then inside work dresses, lol.
I’ve been wearing nothing but dresses for years now because that’s the only thing I feel comfortable in anymore. I have a tip, jockey sells cooling skimmies short style underwear, they are almost like a pair of biking shorts, but so comfortable under dresses when it’s hot and for summer shoes , any strappy leather sandal works with most every dress, And in the winter leggings and knee high boots with a open front cardigan sweater transforms almost any summer dress into something warm for winter.
I've been wanting something like skimmies to wear under dresses for a long time, but didn't know what they were called or where to find them. Now I can order some online. Thank you! ❤
Wearing dresses isn't just pretty, It is far more comfortable, cheaper, they last longer than jeans, and you stay cooler in the summer. Picking the right style for day to day is important, but once you get it figured out, it is wonderful. Nice dresses are also so easy to find at thrift stores because most women only wear dresses a few times before getting rid of them.
I've been adding dressed into my warm weather wardrobe that past couple of years cuz it is def cooler. But, in Michigan?? ugh...not sure how to do that and not freeze, even with leggings underneath??
Layers! More than one even. Two skirts with the longer one underneath can be so cute, the skirt of the one peeking out. And then boots with leggings and warm socks on your feet. Plus sweaters, jackets, a jean jacket
The Holy Spirit put it in my heart to start dressing more modestly. It took a while before I conceded, mostly because I did not wanna spend the money on new clothes. I did not own dresses to wear at home, so I kept wearing my tight leggings and pants. As the days went on, I felt more and more uncomfortable wearing pants. I started absolutely hating the fact that my crotch and behind were out on display and could not comfortably (in my soul) walk around with them. I could not ignore the convictions any longer and ordered a whole bunch of dresses. All flowy. I can not do tight or semi tight dresses either. They HAVE TO BE loose and flowy, preferably knee level or below, shoulders covered and front not too open. Even if the pants are loose, I still can not do pants anymore and I'm not mad about that at all. What makes God happy, makes me happy. Also, giving up pants is not that big of a deal honestly, you're not gonna die if you don't wear them lol. I feel a slight aversion to modest tomboyish dresses as well, which proves to me that God deeply cares about girliness and femininity for women. My clothes are more colorful and floral now and not just clothes, my Bible cover is floral, my phone case is floral, etc lol. I'm also growing out my hip length hair which I thought I'd never do. The Bible says that a woman's long hair is her glory and I would like to embrace what God blessed me with. I NEVER thought I'd change this much. I've always been a tomboy at heart.
@@alinarik99 at 61 I am trying to grow out the old lady short hair cut.🙂 I was talking to my cousin about our grandmother having long hair even in her elderly age. She would wear it in a bun. We could not figure out why she would have long hair and wear in a bun. After reading you last section about hair I am wonder if that is why she wore it long even in her 80’s. It also made me think about me growing out my hair. It not just because it is our covering but as you said the Bible does say it is our glory. I feel it pleases God and show honor to him. Just as how we dress.
WOW WOW WOW!!! I literally felt God calling me to wearing dresses for the past week ... things have been coming up about modesty in my feeds, random peoples conversations over how women used to dress in the past over now, Godly women I know randomly talking about femininity and modest dressing ... I have been feeling a pull, so much that I literally cleared out half my closet and donated ALOT of my clothes this week ... now, I have nothing really and am at ground zero ... so I would LOVE if you expanded this video and did a haul ... I did feel like God is working on me in this area of my life and I have even been going towards minimalism, and having just what I need. Thank you for this video, I feel like God put this on your heart to make for me personally lol
Christmas 2023 began my dress/skirt journey. I felt the call to wear dresses. I’ve always loved them. There was lots of learning curves as I began in winter, learning to layer with leggings and tights and in the summer with biking shorts. Also learning what shoes worked with my outfits is something I’m still working on. It has been interesting to see the response from others, and my own mindset changing. I agree once you figure out what you like, dresses are more comfortable!
The shoe issue is a big one for me. I feel like I never know which shoes to put on with a dress, I think that is actually a big one in my way of trying this out.😢
I was 52 when I began wearing dresses daily. That was four years ago and I cannot imagine wearing jeans or slacks regularly now. I have purchased several casual daily wear dresses from Walmart and even a few from Dollar General. A rule I keep with my daily dresses and my nicer dresses, is that I prefer a solid color because I can change up accessories and change the look so much. I encourage all my sisters in the Lord to read Deuteronomy 22:5 and pray about how you should "go forth," as Heidi says. 🕊️👗
I go back and forth, too. I've come to the conclusion that the most important thing is to have a view around my wardrobe that exemplifies MY real life, not what I see on social media or TH-cam. I live in a country that is freeeeezing 6 months out of the year and also very muddy. I've worn leggings/tights under dresses in winter. Then I'm too hot when cleaning. 🤷 I just do the best I can to be modest and real with myself and in our budget, too.♥️🇨🇦
Whenever I wear a dress, I am constantly asked "why are you so dressed up?" Some people don't understand the simplicity of dresses. Over your head put on some shoes, you're ready to go.
When I was young I liked wearing skirts but also riding my bike and climbing trees and fences 😂 I began wearing coulottes... split skirts, riding skirts. You couldn't tell they had a closed center. They were So comfortable, and protected me against any sudden gust of wind. Nothing to see there😂 I think I will make myself some more.
Great idea! I cycle as well and sew. I don’t think I’ve seen patterns for culottes …maybe a vintage pattern? I suppose I could draft a pattern but I’d prefer to get it right the first time.
@@frugalseamstress2642 I looked up "sewing culottes" and there are tutorials on TH-cam. I found 2 from ladies who draw the pattern directly onto the fabric. You can adjust the measurements to fit your own. They looked really nice and very easy to make.
I've also been a t-shirt and legging stay-at-home mom with sneakers for a long time, and I do have foot issues so I can't wear super cute shoes. Also, I'm very active so I like to exercise in the mornings and take frequent walks with my family. I'm trying to find a balance between a very active lifestyle and wearing dresses because I feel like they kind of hinder my movement and also it seems kind of strange to be exercising in dress, so i have a few different outfit changes throughout the day because I have to change into exercise clothes and then back again. I've tried wearing dresses more because I feel like it flatters my body, but I do feel overdressed a lot of the time like you're mentioning. So I wear sneakers with every dress now unless it's a special occasion. I also agree with lots of other commenters that because of menopause things just fit differently and dresses are much more put together and flattering. I like the way dresses feel on top/mid tummy area, but I can't stand the feeling of my thighs touching even if I'm wearing something like biker shorts underneath the dresses. So what I do is in the summer. I wear capri leggings under my dress which isn't necessarily the most elegant but it works for me. Plus they have pockets so if my dress doesn't have pockets then I have a place for my phone! And in the fall/winter I use very thin leggings that I can wear under my dress that also have pockets. I found a brand of leggings on Amazon called Satina high waisted that are SO thin and soft, they aren't compression like exercise leggings, more like tights, but with pockets! Also, by wearing Capri leggings or regular leggings under my dresses, I don't have to worry about dress length because sometimes I'm finding dresses that are super cute but they're mini dresses. I buy a lot of my dresses at thrift stores. Some of them are cut for younger women and I don't like to show off my legs. So for the modesty aspect wearing capri pants or leggings underneath also takes care of that.
Really enjoyed this video Heidi. Im 66 years old and this summer I have worn dresses all summer. As a child I remember my mother wearing a “day dress” everyday. She was a stay at home mom and her dresses seemed to be cotton dresses. I bought cotton tank dresses that were named as coverups from Lands End. They have been on sale for as low as $15.00 at times. I can do house work easily in these dresses. I can wear sneakers with them and look casual. I have other dresses that have short sleeves just for going out to eat or church, etc. Again, simple and comfortable. Winter time……I could use some advice on Heidi. Thank you again for this video!
I found an appropriate style dress for my older body at Costco for an easy $15. Since it worked so well, especially for traveling in our modest motorhome, I ordered one of each color on-line. They launder magnificently. As a below the knee amputee knee length dresses work best for me. I always feel put together. One more thing is the benefit of “ventilation”.
I adore dresses and skirts, but because I have an insulin pump (Type 1 diabetic) it's easier for me to wear skirts if I need to check my glucose levels. Also, have any of you ladies noticed how many more times a man will open doors for you if you're wearing modest skirts or dresses?
Yes, men treat me very respectfully when I am out and about town in my dresses. They open doors and are super polite. I noticed this behavior years ago when I switched to wearing dresses and it still happens and still makes me feel blessed.
Would love to see a dress haul for the cold weather. I always wear dresses in the summer but haven’t figured out how to stay warm in a dress in winter.
I am older in my mid 50s I always wore mostly a skirt daily until I became a stay at home mom in my late 20s. I have worn a dress to Mass everyweek. I really would love a dress haul. I love this video!!
I absolutely 💯 love to wear long skirts and paired with a denim vest my absolutely 💯 fav..but I can wear my skirts so many ways dressed up or down..so awesome..Thank-you I'm so glad women are thinking this way again..
So I just found your channel….I also haven’t read all of the comments but the I saw the question at the top which asked I’d women should wear dresses to church. My very first thought when I read this was, aren’t we going to church to worship and thank God for His goodness? Shouldn’t we be dressing for Him?
I’ve been wearing dresses more often since the summer started… I’ve got to say it’s the best thing! I feel way more confident in a dress or skirt… I’ve been buying at Ross, thrift store or shein… and yes 👏 Its so feminine too my husband loves when I wear them! Especially night gowns 🤭 Something about a dress or skirt that is also a reminder that I am to be a godly woman here to serve Jesus, my husband and children 🥰 Ps. Nothing wrong with wearing jeans! I still wear them here and there but personally I’ve been feeling sluggish with pants on 🫶
Yes, a dress haul, please! I have had similar experience in changing over to dresses/skirts and can relate. Would love to learn any practical tips for cold weather, working outside etc.
This video was so timely for me! Just this week, I committed to going back to wearing dresses and skirts only, so the encouragement is so appreciated. I live in snowy New England, and with winter just around the corner, I've been planning ways to keep warm while wearing dresses. I'd like to find some fleece-lined leggings for starters. Also, long cardigans will help, I know, so I ordered a couple to get me started. I can thrift more as time goes on. And I too, would love to see a "How to keep warm in dresses through the winter"! Thanks for all you do : )
I love this video. I hit this stage after having my son. I just did not want anything clinging to my body, and having people look at it. And I wanted to look more modest and put together like you said. But I too kept feeling over dressed. But now, I don’t care. I would rather look over dressed to others, than conform to this less is more era we are living in. I’ve never felt more feminine. I don’t know if you have Vinted over there. But it has been amazing, I bought tons of breastfeeding dresses and loads of other dresses for amazing prices. And I’ve been slowly getting rid of all my old stuff. This video has resonated so much. Thank you xxx
I've noticed more women wearing dresses here lately! I was born in 1953, so I grew up wearing dresses. We weren't allowed to wear pants in school until I was in high school! Back then it was bell bottoms😊 It's so much fun seeing dresses again!
I really like Thursday Boots. Their Captain boots are great for fall and have an elegant, Anne of Green Gables look to them. I also have their white leather sneakers which look great with a casual summer dress. Both are comfortable enough for long walks.
SAS shoes are so comfortable! They have been making very nice sandals now also. You can find them at thrift stores sometimes. They are pricey, but I think they're worth it because they lasted a very long time. And they do have sales Once in a while, Like on New Year's or certain holidays. I've gotten some for $20 and some for 60 on sale.
I just wear sneakers! If you don't have foot issues, there are lots of cute sneakers that go well with dresses and you can see examples of it if you just do a Google search. I can't wear fancy shoes because I do have foot issues in my podiatrist told me that I shouldn't wear anything except my Hokas unless it's a special occasion. I have a pair for indoor use because I'm a stay-at-home mom and then I have a pair that I wear out and about that are just black and white and I don't even care if it matches my dress or not! Most people aren't looking at your shoes and I've never been particularly fashion forward, so it doesn't really bother me since I was just a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl before anyway and didn't feel the need to look elegant or in style.
Once we move to our new home and I can set up a permanent sewing table with my machine, I’m planning to make long skirts and long dresses for myself and my teenage daughter. The natural fiber dresses are hard enough to find (especially while thrifting) let alone modest ones that are flattering for our “physique challenges”.
I’d love to see a dress haul! The Holy Spirit put on my heart to try transitioning to dresses / skirts a few months ago. I whole heartedly agree with everything you’ve said! What a blessing to have the Holy Spirit transform us inwardly and outwardly.
One way to make the transition could be to get a few skirts and wear the tops you wore with jeans, with skirts. And you could maybe find or sew a denim skirt. Especially in summer. In the fall you could find or make a corduroy skirt. Or get pinafores/jumpers and wear those with T-shirts and tops. Mix and match skirts and blouse and you get more outfits. Just some ideas.
Heidi, you are such a lovely lady. I love to wear dresses. I grew up Pentecostal Holiness so I'm used to it but I can see how it would make someone feel uncomfortable if they are not used to wearing them. I would love to see a dress haul.
Heidi one thing I should love is if you talked about what SHOES you wear with your dresses! I know that was a mental hurdle for me, but finding sandals, white leather tennies and boots that work with my dresses really helped me feel put together and made it easier to choose dresses over pants! What are your favorite shoes to wear with dresses? Ladies? Chime in!
I wear flip flops, sandals, ballet flats, mules, clogs and boots. I bought white Keds because I saw other ladies wearing them with casual dresses and they looked super cute. I didn't like them on me, though. I ended up blessing a friend with those. And no high heels for me. Those days are long gone.
I’m at a loss, because I’m so short. Tall girls can get away with the tennis shoes and flats. Unless the dress is floor-length, I look like my legs were sawed off when I wear a dress with flat shoes. 😅
I struggle so much with dresses. First, they don't work well in my work environment. I'm tall and so they are often too short. I FREEZE in the summer in AC- pants are so much warmer! And you have to be a lot picker with shoes you wear with dresses. It's a struggle
I agree. What kind of shoes do you wear with a dress? Certainly not comfortable ones. I wear house dresses at home, but I don't think I've ever worn a dress in public since my 20's. I'm not showing my legs or my ankles at my age. I dont wear shorts out in public either or anything sleeveless. I like sporty clothes like jeans and tshirts and ball caps. I just turned 60 and I'm retired.
Hello... quite new here. But not new to the interest in wearing dresses instead of jeans. (I'm so a jeans girl.) But recently the Lord has been speaking to me about the scriptures that tell us that women should not dress like a man dresses. I've felt that I look feminine in my style of clothing, shirts, shoes, jewlery. However, if you were to see me only from the waist down, there is nothing about my clothing that one could not wonder if I were a man or a woman. I can honor God by doing what His word says... and enjoy His blessings for my obedience; or I can continue to ignore the admonition, and NOT know those blessings. It's not a hard choice. Skirts and dresses here I come.
I love this video. Yes, it's hard to wear dresses after years (say, 45+) of wearing pant suits, jeans. The Christian college I attended in the late 70s required women to wear dresses, which I loved. That was the ERA era, though, so not long after I graduated in 80, that rule changed. Now, the women on that campus attend classes in cut off jean shorts. Please spare my eyes. 🤦♀️ I completely get the reference to lighting in Carlsbad Caverns. I'm from the Texas panhandle, so that was a fun outing for our family a few times. Other caves disappoint from my memory of Carlsbad. I DO want to start wearing dresses again. I always do on Sunday morning services, but am in jeans and a woven top (no more t-shirts or even knits for me - for over a decade now). I feel terrible in them. But try to find well made, decently priced and non-plunging neckline dresses in plus sizes. Even if I do, I've had too many disappointing orders, that I'm skeptical of ordering. I abhor thrift shopping, because I end up coming home with junk I don't need. Therefore, my solution is sewing, which was my college degree in the first place! So why am I not sewing?! That is my determination, to sew. I have the fabric, patterns, skill, but I'm kinda lacking the nerve. What if I spend all that time and it looks ridiculous? Your video has helped me with that --- "Just go for it!" Also, you didn't mention skirts vs dresses. When I started nursing babies in the 80s, I went from dresses to skirts - much more practical. I wore a skirt Sunday and still felt a little dowdy because of the blouse not staying put. With a dress, there's no fuss about matching or tucking in. Skirts are nice, but I think they need an over garment to pull skirt and top more together as one garment, especially in my very plus size figure now. Just my thoughts on skirts.
Ok so this is the first time I've seen a video from you and I agree with you on the comfort thing but I can't imagine myself wearing a dress everyday. I used to wear dresses until the day we got our big dog (as a puppy) I had to take him outside 8 times a day and he had digestive issues that lasted for a couple of months . Getting down on the floor to clean up his nasty messes would have been harder in a dress . Also I freeze easily and have to wead three pairs of pants in the winter . The wind blowing the dress around seems liks a major issue as well.
I've found a lot of nice dresses from April Cornell. It's an absolute goldmine for modest, feminine clothing. Like many others here, I was feeling led to start wearing dresses and skirts exclusively so I rebuilt my wardrobe over the past year or so. Now that I'm used to it, I don't think I could ever return to jeans. Long, flowy skirts and dresses are so much more comfortable and flattering.
Love this video so much! Please share your cold and wet weather dress wearing tips. I love wearing skirts and dresses, but I'm always so cold when it's not summer weather. Also, I feel silly cleaning in dresses. I have gone back and forth with wanting to wear more dresses and skirts, but once summer is gone, I'm back in jeans.
So interesting. This video popped into my feed this morning. I’ve actually been wearing mostly dresses all summer now, and I love it! I still don’t love all the comments from people, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it.
I bought 4 or 5 Summer dresses at the thrift store and planned on wearing them once a week on the days that I meet with my friends and also do grocery shopping. It has been cold and rainy on those days all Summer. I'm still wearing them but adding jackets.
Being overweight I struggle with dresses, they do look so lovely but I don't find them supportive. Also what comfortable shoes would you wear with them ....😢
I believe you. Some of my favorite casual dresses are from Amazon. I have several of Walmart's Time and Tru dresses. Ross is a great place to find dresses, casual and dressy. I bought the two daily dresses I wear most often at Dollar General, of all places! Those dresses were $7 each and have held up five years and still going. You never know until you look!
I would love to wear more dresses. My biggest qualm/reservation about it, is my lifestyle. Im a mom of 3 little boys. I'm constantly scrubbing toilets and floors, running around outside, climbing up playgrounds to get my adventurous/ambitious new walker, not to mention we bike and hike often. I dont know how I would even do this in a long dress and wouldn't want to be climbing around in a shorter dress. I think its ideal more for when we go grocery shopping, or church, or sitting around, but how do you ladies of littles do dresses? Any tips??
I would love to see your dress haul. I love making them. So sorry, i just found your channel. And know you are going through a rough time. Sending prayers. And we'll definitely be bringing church groups to help. Would love to meet you
I wear dresses regularly. The one thing that I often have a problem with is what type of shoes to wear with casual dresses. Anyone have good recommendations?
That’s my problem. Heels are out because they destroy your whole alignment, and I am very short, so flat shoes make me look frumpy or little-girly 😢 even though I am slim. It’s so easy to be tall. Unfair! 😅
I still ware jeans... But for Church I started with the baby step of jean skirts. I an very short and boxy, so not many dresses look good on my frame. But once I find a style I like, I try to find more in that style. I also love to leggings under my dresses.
I have some troubles with wearing dresses) I've bought several, but hardly ever put them on. But my reasons are not only those mentioned in the video, but also: 1) perspiration. Wearing a dress one or two times makes it instantly dirty in my case, so I'll need to wash it every day, which will make the dress shabby pretty soon. I prefer a T-shirt + a long skirt - at least then I'll have to wash a T-shirt, and they are much easier to replace than a dress. 2) a dress needs some nice shoes or at least suitable trainers, which is also a problem for me😁 3) long dresses and skirts are not super practical in every day life, to my mind. They are easier to get dirty in autumn mud, for example. And they need to be ironed more often than some other pieces of clothes, in order to look well. So I still haven't decided this question yet)
I am with you on that. I have dresses and I do wear them sometimes, but we live on some land. I’m in the chicken coop all the time and I’m the one who cleans it and gets down on my knees and the garden and in the chicken coop…. Burning brush mowing the lawn. I do most of that. I am a stay at home mom and yes, I have a husband, but he sometimes works 60 hours a week so it takes two of us to get done what we can get done.🥰 I like my dresses, but they get caught. They get pulled from my knees and I’d rather ruin my pants. 😜 Also here in Georgia in the heat, you don’t wanna wear tights under your dresses lol it gets way too hot !!!
@@jamiegarren1895 Wow, it's great to have a piece of land of your own! 😊But it's a hard work though, true (not always suitable for dresses either!) And yes, in south areas it's pretty hot to wear tights underneath👍
@@Leah_Bondal i roller skate for fun about once a week lol that could be a tripping hazard😉 that all being said I understand where the speaker is coming from. And I am of strong belief that all in all women should be more modest. I’ve often heard men say it’s more attractive the more modest they are at least men who are worth their weight think that. Have a blessed rest of your week !
I love wearing dresses and skirts! I've always worn them since I was a child. I tend to wear them less now because I have a chronic illness and it effects one of my legs. I'm self conscience about it so I tend to wear flowy pants. Dresses have always made me feel so feminine
After discussing my conviction with my husband, I will be making the switch to skirts from pants. I am not a fashionista by any stretch, so need some ideas on comfy practical tops and shoes to wear with. I currently wear basic low top sneakers when going out, I THINK in everyday situations (errands, walking dogs) these should still be fine? I usually am wearing just basic long sleeve "t shirt" style tops in winter, occasional sweater, and short sleeve tees in warm weather. Where to find "everyday" long skirts that would work with this? Thank you! 😊😊
In theory, it could work, but I’d really like to see actual dresses in this video. The problem is that most of us look terrible in dresses and don’t know where to start.
I think we just have to find the right cut and shape that enhance our good features, no matter our size. It's about Shape, not size. I've seen many videos on how to dress an apple or pear shape, for example. Don't give up ❤
See, that's the kind of info I was hoping she'd share. I wear dresses and skirts regularly and would say I'm very comfortable in them, but not when it comes to outdoor or other major work. Obviously the pioneer women managed to do lots of pretty tough stuff in their dresses, so I'm not questioning whether it's possible, I'm just curious what people do to make it as practical as possible. ("Practical" meaning you avoid damaging the dress and or/yourself!) One of the key points, I think, is what is meant by "comfortable." It's so interesting how very personal comfort is. For example, my definition of comfort has a lot to do with warmth, happy feet, and protection. (Modesty, too, but wearing clothes that protect me from the weather and/or surfaces pretty much ensures good coverage, if not what some would define as modesty.) So, for example , because jeans protect my legs from scratches better than a dress does, I find them to be more comfortable. Whereas, as she said in the video, someone whose priority it is to show less of the shape of their body finds dresses to be more comfortable. But yeah...long way to say "what do you do that helps dresses work well for you?"
@@AbigailPoirier I love maxi dresses for outside work and tie it up in a knot so it doesn't drag or get caught. It's very comfy and easy to work in. Also it's nice and cool.
Living In Florida I started wearing Workout clothes everyday because it inspires us moms to exercise on a daily. That’s why you see so many fit people here. I do Love dresses for church or date night but my husbands loves the cute yoga outfits as much as I do. He makes my Laugh when he says yoga pants don’t Lie! 😂🤣
I work in an office and switched to all dresses cold turkey in April. I get a lot of compliments 😊also, I know it can be controversial but I have gotten a lot of dresses from Temu…
Dresses were my all time favorite and are the best especially in Summer. Cooler and only one article of clothing. I'm 63 and not loving dresses at this age. They are too short and I hate the lack of sleeve options.
I totally agree with all you've said and lately have begun to move in this direction. My only problem is that I'm very messy! I'm a gardener, a DIYer, up to my elbows in the kitchen, and so much more. Plus I move from one of these activities to another every day. I can't be changing clothes all the time during the day because I worry about ruining a dress. And in the summer it would be SO hot to wear a big apron all day. Any suggestions?
I have dresses I use for doing my dirty work and nicer dresses for church or working in the office. Dresses for doing dirty work are best in darker colors. The days I am home all day doing housework, I just wear a simple and plain linen dress. I always think of Little House on the Prairie. They had their Sunday Best dress and then their everyday work/school dress. Today I was doing housework all day.
I love wearing dresses everyday, too! I started a couple of years ago and my husband loves it! What fabric refresher do you use on your dresses that you mentioned? Thanks!
kimm169: I’ve been through this in a cult. Glad that part of my life is over. I am much warmer in sweat pants & sweat shirts for winter & jeans with tights & tall boots. I do warm dresses with tights & boots & dressed up jeans with longer sweaters & tall boots for Winter. No dresses for me in everyday wear. They are not appropriate for gardening modesty & bug sensibility. I try not to major in the minors. You can be modest & feminine in pants. Jesus wore dresses / robes so go figure.
I wear dresses and skirts everyday and everywhere. I colder winter times in my country I wear like a cotton t shirt dress underneath. I teach people to make simple dresses and skirts on my channel to help people to make clothes that actually fit well.
I have recently been convicted of this. And i wore a dress for the first time in YEARS this week and felt soooooo confident and put together. I went to good will that day and got 2 new dresses 😂😂😂. However i am a bigger sized sister so the thigh chafe is so real... Maybe some Spandex shorts under??? Any ideas anyone? Lol
Also it’s helpful to know your Kibbe body type to know what lines flatter you. The main categories are dramatic, natural, classic, gamine and romantic. First glance I’d guess you’re dramatic or natural. And seasonal color analysis. I’d guess you are true summer or soft summer. If you Google “true summer Gabrielle Arruda” or “true summer concept wardrobe it’ll take you to good pages. On TH-cam, Ellie Jean is one that talks about those systems. It helps save money so you won’t order colors or styles that aren’t flattering. 🙌🏻
I like to wear solid color T-shirt or blouse and put on spaghetti straps or pinafore style midi-dresses. You don't have to wash the dresses too often, just only the blouses and T-shirts.
I was never a dress person. Baggy band shirts and gothish pants. But this last couple years, ive started experimenting with it. Material is huge, cut 8s huge, and pockets are a major plus. They simplify looking good lol you really do have to play with it though. Finding the right cut and length can take a while. But once you got it, its great. You throw one on and its an outfit lol Ill use leggings and slips/tanks underneath, and sometimes shawl-type shirts for sleeveless dresses. Its lazy af, but looks nice. They feel better. They are flexible i cant go back now, jeans feel awful lolol
I started wearing dresses a few months ago. Not every day, but usually on Sundays. The reason I didn’t wear them before because I felt beautiful and feminine and I thought this will bring attention to me. ( modest dresses) plus on mu church women are not wearing dresses so I didn’t want to stick out and been seen. Well I overcame that nonsense, the lie of the enemy I I wear dresses and I feel wonderful! It is a good thing. The devil will lie to us in everything what is good from God! Ladies modest heart is the nr 1 wonderful quality for us women, and everything else will flow from it! ❤have a great weekend. Sister Hidie good job on encouraging women to be women! Being a woman is fantastic, huge gods blessing can come from a fearing the Lord modest woman who is willing to sacrifice her own desires and submit to her master Jesus Christ
My husband and I visited a church for a few months last year where I was the only lady consistently wearing modest dresses. Some other ladies wore dresses on Sunday mornings, but some of those dresses would've fit right in at a night club. Wednesday night, it was anything goes, not just jeans on ladies but also short shorts. I stayed with my conviction and wore my dresses. They saw me at worship and on work days in dresses. You know what? The culture in the church started to change. More and more ladies were dressing modestly. 🙌 We may feel like the oddball, but the Lord may be using us to inspire someone else.
I wear skirts, though I have a few dresses. I stopped wearing jeans about three years ago. I never really liked jeans or slacks. I never wore pants till I had a job that needed tie shoes that just didn't look right with a skirt. Skirts are more comfortable all around, much cooler in warm weather. For winter I wear leggings or knee socks and have no problem with Michigan weather. For modesty and comfort, I wear pettipants instead of a regular slip. With dresses, I do wear a half slip. I just feel better dressed this way. I am not stylish, but am neat.
It gets, with the huge wind chill, -40 here all too often. Leggings are great, but at that temp a woman needs jeans, tall woolen socks plus leggings. Nothing sticking out to the weather since your skin gets frostbite then after 10 minutes. Eskimo women didn't wear dresses. BTW, when it's late spring, summer, early fall, I love wearing dresses. Like wearing automatic air conditioning plus feminine.
I grew up in a Christian organization (not a cult, just very legalistic) that did not allow pants for women at all. I was in my twenties when I wore jeans for the first time. I’ve worn pants/jeans most of the time for most of my adult life. I’m 61 now and have realized that I’ve sufficiently proven to the world and to myself that I can wear pants whenever I like. Not that anyone else ever cared, lol. I did a 100 day challenge to wear a merino wool dress in 2020/2021. It had pockets which was something that had held me back from wearing dresses. I love having pockets! I have a lot of dresses and skirts that I won’t wear often because they don’t have pockets. I keep thinking I should add pockets, but so far I’ve procrastinated on that.
I would like to see a dress haul. Especially how to wear dresses in winter weather.
I where dresses in winter. Plain black leggings underneath and a cardigan over the top. Sometimes a long sleeved t-shirt top underneath the dress. 👗
This is exactly what I was thinking!
Petticoats is the secret to wearing dresses and skirts in the winter, especially if, like me, you hate leggings.
Thanks for the skimmies tip. I’ve been wondering how to deal with this issue.
Yes! So true! It's much easier to find nice dresses at a thrift store than any other item. ♥️🇨🇦
Dress haul please😊
I started adding "thrift" dresses into my spring/fall wardrobe the past couple of summers....but not sure
Same with me I feel it is the Holly Spirit was leading me. I feel He is leading more women to do so.
Absolutely.

I still go back and forth with wearing dresses. I love how put together I look and feel when I’m wearing a dress.
🤷 I just do the best I can to be modest and real with myself and in our budget, too.♥️🇨🇦
@@amandazplace5663 yes! I wear way more dresses in the hotter months. ❤️
Whenever I wear a dress, I am constantly asked "why are you so dressed up?" Some people don't understand the simplicity of dresses. Over your head put on some shoes, you're ready to go.
Thankyou! Yes dresses ,I've started wearing! And I do feel good in them. Takecare I'm from Australia 😘😄👗👒👢🥿👡👜
I talked to my husband about the dresses awhile back and he is all for it; loves the more feminine look.
Also I’d love a dress haul, especially for winter wear. ❤
When I was young I liked wearing skirts but also riding my bike and climbing trees and fences 😂
I began wearing coulottes... split skirts, riding skirts. You couldn't tell they had a closed center. They were So comfortable, and protected me against any sudden gust of wind. Nothing to see there😂
I think I will make myself some more.
@@frugalseamstress2642 Make a mock up out of an old sheet to get the right fit for your size.
I am in my 50's and have never worn pants or jeans. I love dresses
I'd love to see your dresses, especially which ones you find the most versatile.
Wearing a dress says you embrace being a lady. Men probably appreciate the clear message in this day and age.
Thighsociety makes undershorts in a cargo style that has a pocket that could be perfect to hold an insulin pump under dresses.
@@wendybutler3514 Thank you for sharing this information ❤
Yes, men treat me very respectfully when I am out and about town in my dresses. They open doors and are super polite. I noticed this behavior years ago when I switched to wearing dresses and it still happens and still makes me feel blessed.
Would love to see a dress haul for the cold weather. I always wear dresses in the summer but haven’t figured out how to stay warm in a dress in winter.
Yes I would like to see fall and winter dresses for church ⛪️!! Thank you
I am older in my mid 50s I always wore mostly a skirt daily until I became a stay at home mom in my late 20s.
Yes! I would love to see any fall dresses , you have ! Thank you ! ❤
Especially night gowns 🤭
Something about a dress or skirt that is also a reminder that I am to be a godly woman here to serve Jesus, my husband and children 🥰
Ps.
Thanks for all you do : )
This was such a blessing! You are awesome
I only wear dresses and skirts and they are all long because for me its more modest. Thank you Heidi for your encouragement.
I’ve been wearing dresses more and more. Will definitely give the 7 days a go! 👍🏼
Yes, to the thin velvet hangers! I eventually replaced all my hangers with them.
I love them! And yes, from Dollar General, too. 😮
I've noticed more women wearing dresses here lately! I was born in 1953, so I grew up wearing dresses. We weren't allowed to wear pants in school until I was in high school! Back then it was bell bottoms😊 It's so much fun seeing dresses again!
What kind of shoes do you like to wear with a casual everyday dress, that don’t look slovenly? I have ballet flats but they’re not comfortable.
I wear sandals! Many are very comfortable! Beartraps, Clarks, even skechers!
I love dresses, especially in the summer. The ones I have are very comfortable. I get to look nice while feeling like I’m wearing a night gown!
Have been wearing a dress for 5 years now - Wow! Dress haul, yes please
Yes please! A dress haul ❤
I've never been a dress person but I love wearing nightgowns from Walmart. I'm ready to wear dresses more.
I wear sandals, boots, tennis shoes and basically anything you would wear with a pair of pants.
I wear comfy shoes only. Sneakers can go with dresses now, I love that!
I wear comfy ankle boots my daughter in law bought me with my dresses.
I started wearing casual dresses two years ago. Love them 💗
Hello... quite new here.
I completely get the reference to lighting in Carlsbad Caverns.
Your video has helped me with that --- "Just go for it!"
Also, you didn't mention skirts vs dresses.
I used to wear dresses until the day we got our big dog (as a puppy)
I had to take him outside 8 times a day and he had digestive issues that lasted for a couple of months .
Getting down on the floor to clean up his nasty messes would have been harder in a dress .
Also I freeze easily and have to wead three pairs of pants in the winter .
The wind blowing the dress around seems liks a major issue as well.
I’ve actually been wearing dresses more often. And wanting to wear them more often but can’t seem to find many that fit me right!
Also what comfortable shoes would you wear with them ....😢
I'd love to wear dresses more but I also work in a grocery store. Would you have any suggestions on how to be comfortable working in a dress?
Some of my very favorite dresses are from Amazon (seriously!) and Costco of all places!!
I want to do this and would love to see your dresses!
I filmed a summer haul- it'll be out next week! Stay tuned! 👗
Unfair! 😅
Do you go bare legged and what shoes do you wear? I don’t like my pale, veined legs, it looks unfinished without panty hose but they seem dated.
I still ware jeans... But for Church I started with the baby step of jean skirts. I an very short and boxy, so not many dresses look good on my frame. But once I find a style I like, I try to find more in that style. I also love to leggings under my dresses.
I would love to see a dress haul!!😊
Cotton Bike style antichaff shorts instead of knickers under dresses are the best ❤
I have some troubles with wearing dresses) I've bought several, but hardly ever put them on. But my reasons are not only those mentioned in the video, but also:
1) perspiration. Wearing a dress one or two times makes it instantly dirty in my case, so I'll need to wash it every day, which will make the dress shabby pretty soon. I prefer a T-shirt + a long skirt - at least then I'll have to wash a T-shirt, and they are much easier to replace than a dress.
2) a dress needs some nice shoes or at least suitable trainers, which is also a problem for me😁
3) long dresses and skirts are not super practical in every day life, to my mind.
I am a stay at home mom and yes, I have a husband, but he sometimes works 60 hours a week so it takes two of us to get done what we can get done.🥰
I like my dresses, but they get caught. They get pulled from my knees and I’d rather ruin my pants. 😜
Also here in Georgia in the heat, you don’t wanna wear tights under your dresses lol it gets way too hot !!!
@@jamiegarren1895 thank you😊The same to you!
Don't give up ❤
@@1rahmaan I look like a wrestler in every dress I’ve ever put on, but maybe the right dress will find me🤣🤣
I'll start today!!
That's great! Do all things for the Lord and He'll bless you in it. 🕊️
I love dresses I even love them when working out in the yard.
("Practical" meaning you avoid damaging the dress and or/yourself!)
One of the key points, I think, is what is meant by "comfortable." It's so interesting how very personal comfort is.
He makes my
Laugh when he says yoga pants don’t Lie! 😂🤣
I work in an office and switched to all dresses cold turkey in April. I get a lot of compliments 😊also, I know it can be controversial but I have gotten a lot of dresses from Temu…
I agree! $6 dresses and fit great!
Dress haul for all seasons!
I am older, and I feel immodest in dresses, and I get too cold in dresses. I like long tunic tops that cover my bottom.
I love wearing dresses everyday, too! I started a couple of years ago and my husband loves it! What fabric refresher do you use on your dresses that you mentioned? Thanks!
I would love to see how you would wear dresses for the winter!
kimm169: I’ve been through this in a cult.
Wish you had shown some photos or video of your closets and dresses.
Where did you get the dress you have on now? I love the high neck line.
I found it at a thrift store a couple years ago! I *think* it might have originally come from Target? But I'm not 100%.
I wear long skirts. Modest clothing. I’m a woman and I like feeling and looking feminine.
Lol
Love your videos
Also it’s helpful to know your Kibbe body type to know what lines flatter you. The main categories are dramatic, natural, classic, gamine and romantic.
First glance I’d guess you’re dramatic or natural.
And seasonal color analysis. I’d guess you are true summer or soft summer.
If you Google “true summer Gabrielle Arruda” or “true summer concept wardrobe it’ll take you to good pages.
On TH-cam, Ellie Jean is one that talks about those systems. It helps save money so you won’t order colors or styles that aren’t flattering. 🙌🏻
I love wearing dresses!❤
I want to add more dresses to my wardrobe and let go of jeans and tshirts! I need help lol 🫣
Pray about it. Ask the Lord to help, guide you. He will. ❤🕊️
I forgot to add my mum always wore dresses nothing else
In winter time she just put trousers over top and a jumper she knitted
Thoughts on nursing moms and moms who like to be active and run around with their kids. ??

DRESS HAUL!!!!!!
I still like my jeans and tees but nothing like a dress. So comfy in the past it was more a weight issue. Now jeans feel too confined.
Love your home ❤
Any advice for a petite woman? I have trouble finding dresses that fit me. Either they look like a bag or are too long😢
I grew up in a Christian organization (not a cult, just very legalistic) that did not allow pants for women at all.
