It depends where you live. In Dubai, several years ago, I walked into an authorised dealership and I tried on the Milgauss Z blue, no date Submariner and the Batman. They even showed me a Hulk, but I wasn't interested - not really my bag. That was in the Mall of the Emirates. The last time I went to Dubai Mall (about a year ago), they didn't have any of those in stock, so I think at some point they changed their policy.

Yep. I too have a 14060M that I might wear 1x a week. A cleaner, more elegant vintage dress watch (Omega Bumper) gets much more use. Just no need for a clunky, heavy sports watch.
The idea that you can sell your rolex for what you paid is a long running lie. There are 1000's of rolexes on the grey market and the chance that you will sell your sub are remote. More than likely you will sell it to or through a dealer for 25% less than what you would expect. No bad, but you ain't gonna make a profit unless you have something special.

Hi Adrian, thank you for talking some sense. You’re right, we don’t HAVE to buy these watches, they won’t change our lives. Let’s not get caught up in all the hype. Let’s be considered in our purchases, if you LOVE the watch and have the funds to buy then good on you, go for it! However if you just like the watch but feel you should buy it because it’s the latest Rolex model, or buying it will put a strain on finances, then take some time out and weigh it all up first.
I was gutted to see that, and the OP36 white dial is gone too. My friend was lucky to have an OP39 white allocated to him this Spring, but it took a while to ship from Geneva.

Finally a bracelet that fits the case. The outgoing Sub's case to bracelet ratio is just horrible, it sits ugly on the wrist and that's why i sold mine, couldn't stand it.
This update/release sort of confirmations the Sub as being a fashion watch these days doesn't it really? It's not a serious dive watch anymore, which is a shame.

Here is some advice that fits what he just said. Don't get caught up with the hype when dealing with your AD. be flexible. Walked into my AD last week to by a present for a close friend for Christmas. To be clear I had bought four watches from him over the last two years a previously owned completely served GMT Master II, two Breitling's and a Pelagos. He chatted me up and asked me if I was looking for anything in watches for Christmas, I told him I was thinking of Bathyscaphe. He doesn't carry Blancpain. He asked me if I liked the new Sub, I said yes very much but I like Unicorn's too. He then asked me if I could get one would it be Date of No Date. I said either. He left me to finishing my purchase and as I was leaving he handed me a new Sub date Black still in the coffin and said would you like this for Christmas. I bought it and left wearing it. Point of the story, I didn't ask for a Daytona or a Sub Green Bezel, and when I got a chance I took what was offered. I personally think by spring a lot of Black Bezel Subs date and no Dates will be around. Stop wanting the Special colors, your playing the fools game. The Black is gorgeous I didn't have to have the Green. I took what was offered.
They dropped the ball by not having a blue bezel Submariner. Also I think they should have a Datejust 41 with a Turn O Graph bezel, perfect bridge between sport and office. Good vid too bud!

When you get down the brass tacks, theres really nothing extraordinary about the Submariner. Its a very good solid watch. But build-wise, movement-wise, reliability-wise, tech-wise, there are plenty of alternatives that are as good or better for less money. What the others dont offer is the Rolex cache' -- but for many people wearing a Rolex has become almost a label they are purposely avoiding because of the snobbish off-putting connotation Rolex has curated with it. You dont get that same reaction with a Glashutte Original, Omega, Blancpain, or even Tudor.
All OP 39s GONE from the catalogue. 39mm is my pesonal sweet spot. New Sub still larger than id prefer but at least it looks more proportionally satisfying with slimmer lugs and wider bracelet imo
Fantastic message, you do not need a Rolex. Take it from me, in the last 20 years I have owned several Rolex watches and other expensive watches, IWC, Panerai. After a year of wearing them they are just a watch that tells the time. A nice watch is nice, but not that important.

Just called Watches of Switzerland in London (a huge uk chain of high pieces). Asked about the new kermit and no date sub as they have fixed some of the issues I had a gripe with and I'd only pay that much for a standard steel dive watch because its less likely to depreciate so much. The first thing they did was say its extremely rare but perhaps they could interest me in some alternatives....i said such as....they said new OPs, explorer, milgauss. Basically anything that would turn up soonish that they could get the sale on, regardless of what I want. I asked if its a waitlist process, they said you have to 'register your interest' in person. So you're not in an order. Now they have acted like they will never be there anytime soon, well not for me. So thats my first taste of the Rolex experience. Palmed off, I feel like a lesser client and asked to buy some watches that I dont want just so I have a 'Rolex'. Not sure I'll be doing that again, of course they don't care (Rolex or the AD), they are trying to manage exclusivity and sales at their respective businesses. They have ushered away anyone that hasn't spent tens of thousands with them already. What I dont really get it that they are not exactly haute horology, they are attracting flippers, back door deals and indirectly pissing off their actual fans. So, I'll pass on the steps up to a Lange and my Omegas will do fine.

The Green Lantern or Green Arrow would work with the green and black. I love my blue face diamond dial Datejust 41 stainless with fluted bezel though. You're right though, we don't really "need" these we all are in search of a "feeling" we buy anything because it makes us feel some kind of way and every time I look at my Rolex I feel the same level of "wow I am so fortunate to be able to afford such a thing" and being a craftsman myself I aspire to Rolex level precision in my work.
Revenue isn't the only way to measure how big a company is. It is just as much a matter of brand recognition and desire to own the company's product. Everyone knows Rolex.
I’m pleased to see they have slimmed down the lugs. That’s a huge improvement on the appearance of the watch. And I genuinely appreciate the upgraded movement. However, Rolex should, at the very least, ensure their AD’s can sell at the minimum, one all steel Sub x month. Difficult perhaps? New Skydweller - Who really cares?
Just got a Steeldive 1954 homage and it has that thinner lugs and 41mm in size so its pretty interesting how this is basically the same concept with thinner lugs but 1mm larger and with bigger crown guards.
I love that as a watch channel, you mentioned that we don't really need these watches; we only want them. I, for one, love this updated Rolex Submariner. Given I never liked the Maxi case version (always preferring the older models). It's an exciting time that Rolex is recognizing the best things about their history in design. We could also call the new green bezel sub as maybe "Arrow" or "Lantern" in reference to both DC characters.
Size has gone the wrong way. Bigger diameter (41mm) and bigger lug width (21mm) will make it look and wear bigger. While it is aesthetically a better look from the old watch it is too big. It may well mean more demand for the BB 58’s.

Personally I think that Rolex does a magnificent job in general, the new size of the 41mm case is good since for current standards where new generations require other types of dimensions, on the other hand I stay in the standard classic 39 or 40mm from the golden age, however in the case of Rolex it will be a piece so well achieved in symmetry that it will not dress on the wrist as something disproportionate will be a good thing, I insist I prefer the classic but the changes are good, the new combination Of colors for me the type of contrast is fine, the movement without words Rolex is characterized by manufacturing excellent movements and this will not be the exception, it will be very good, without a doubt the Rolex submariner has had an unexpected update but without a doubt it will become like its predecessor an incredible piece of Horology, not for investment watches are to wear and live them those who think about investing better look for another passion and leave the true lovers of Horology in their own world, we just wait to have it on the channel so that you can offer us your impressions that we enjoy listening so much. Here is some advice that fits what he just said. Don't get caught up with the hype when dealing with your AD. be flexible. Walked into my AD last week to by a present for a close friend for Christmas. To be clear I had bought four watches from him over the last two years a previously owned completely served GMT Master II, two Breitling's and a Pelagos. He chatted me up and asked me if I was looking for anything in watches for Christmas, I told him I was thinking of Bathyscaphe. He doesn't carry Blancpain. He asked me if I liked the new Sub, I said yes very much but I like Unicorn's too. He then asked me if I could get one would it be Date of No Date. I said either. He left me to finishing my purchase and as I was leaving he handed me a new Sub date Black still in the coffin and said would you like this for Christmas. I bought it and left wearing it. Point of the story, I didn't ask for a Daytona or a Sub Green Bezel, and when I got a chance I took what was offered. I personally think by spring a lot of Black Bezel Subs date and no Dates will be around. Stop wanting the Special colors, your playing the fools game. The Black is gorgeous I didn't have to have the Green. I took what was offered.

When you get down the brass tacks, theres really nothing extraordinary about the Submariner. Its a very good solid watch. But build-wise, movement-wise, reliability-wise, tech-wise, there are plenty of alternatives that are as good or better for less money. What the others dont offer is the Rolex cache' -- but for many people wearing a Rolex has become almost a label they are purposely avoiding because of the snobbish off-putting connotation Rolex has curated with it. You dont get that same reaction with a Glashutte Original, Omega, Blancpain, or even Tudor.

Fantastic message, you do not need a Rolex. Take it from me, in the last 20 years I have owned several Rolex watches and other expensive watches, IWC, Panerai. After a year of wearing them they are just a watch that tells the time. A nice watch is nice, but not that important.
Does anybody know what's happening when you have been on a waiting list of a now discontinued model?? Do you start from square one with the new model line or does Rolex somehow management to move forward their stock? any previous experience to share?

Just called Watches of Switzerland in London (a huge uk chain of high pieces).
Asked about the new kermit and no date sub as they have fixed some of the issues I had a gripe with and I'd only pay that much for a standard steel dive watch because its less likely to depreciate so much.
The first thing they did was say its extremely rare but perhaps they could interest me in some alternatives....i said such as....they said new OPs, explorer, milgauss.
Basically anything that would turn up soonish that they could get the sale on, regardless of what I want.
I asked if its a waitlist process, they said you have to 'register your interest' in person. So you're not in an order.
Now they have acted like they will never be there anytime soon, well not for me.
So thats my first taste of the Rolex experience. Palmed off, I feel like a lesser client and asked to buy some watches that I dont want just so I have a 'Rolex'.
Not sure I'll be doing that again, of course they don't care (Rolex or the AD), they are trying to manage exclusivity and sales at their respective businesses.
They have ushered away anyone that hasn't spent tens of thousands with them already.
What I dont really get it that they are not exactly haute horology, they are attracting flippers, back door deals and indirectly pissing off their actual fans.
So, I'll pass on the steps up to a Lange and my Omegas will do fine.

The Green Lantern or Green Arrow would work with the green and black. I love my blue face diamond dial Datejust 41 stainless with fluted bezel though. You're right though, we don't really "need" these we all are in search of a "feeling" we buy anything because it makes us feel some kind of way and every time I look at my Rolex I feel the same level of "wow I am so fortunate to be able to afford such a thing" and being a craftsman myself I aspire to Rolex level precision in my work.

Revenue isn't the only way to measure how big a company is. It is just as much a matter of brand recognition and desire to own the company's product. Everyone knows Rolex.

I’m pleased to see they have slimmed down the lugs. That’s a huge improvement on the appearance of the watch. And I genuinely appreciate the upgraded movement. However, Rolex should, at the very least, ensure their AD’s can sell at the minimum, one all steel Sub x month. Difficult perhaps?

Just got a Steeldive 1954 homage and it has that thinner lugs and 41mm in size so its pretty interesting how this is basically the same concept with thinner lugs but 1mm larger and with bigger crown guards.

I love that as a watch channel, you mentioned that we don't really need these watches; we only want them. I, for one, love this updated Rolex Submariner. Given I never liked the Maxi case version (always preferring the older models). It's an exciting time that Rolex is recognizing the best things about their history in design.
We could also call the new green bezel sub as maybe "Arrow" or "Lantern" in reference to both DC characters.
Size has gone the wrong way. Bigger diameter (41mm) and bigger lug width (21mm) will make it look and wear bigger. While it is aesthetically a better look from the old watch it is too big. It may well mean more demand for the BB 58’s.

Personally I think that Rolex does a magnificent job in general, the new size of the 41mm case is good since for current standards where new generations require other types of dimensions, on the other hand I stay in the standard classic 39 or 40mm from the golden age, however in the case of Rolex it will be a piece so well achieved in symmetry that it will not dress on the wrist as something disproportionate will be a good thing, I insist I prefer the classic but the changes are good, the new combination Of colors for me the type of contrast is fine, the movement without words Rolex is characterized by manufacturing excellent movements and this will not be the exception, it will be very good, without a doubt the Rolex submariner has had an unexpected update but without a doubt it will become like its predecessor an incredible piece of Horology, not for investment watches are to wear and live them those who think about investing better look for another passion and leave the true lovers of Horology in their own world, we just wait to have it on the channel so that you can offer us your impressions that we enjoy listening so much.
