@Abe Froman hi there, Adrian has the 36mm version of the explorer 1, I think in 2016 or 17 they changed it to 39mm. I have the latest one and love it! I think this size will be around for a while. Hope this helps.

The no date 40mm ceramic looks smaller than both the 40mm ceramic Sub date & the both new 41mm Submariners. With polishing in the life of the Sub no date. The lugs will taper down a little. That was one of the reasons for fat lugs. To help the watch maintain its shape. Unlike the pre-ceramic Subs. Many have been ruined by over polishing.
It’s a 40.2mm Sub vs a 40.5mm Sub, plus it looks crap lol no one likes the maxi case bar owners. I expect a price crash on them once the new ones have been about 2 years.

You like it because you can round down 40.2 to 40mm? The new case is still very beefy, it won't be polished to thin lugs. The split the difference. An improvement on the old Chubmaster. There are tons of the old ceramic ones in existence, the new ones have been hard to get from day 1. I see a drop in older ones value now that people have these in hand and have all said its better. Its only the holders of the older ones that have sour grapes.

There was a small price increase on the pre-ceramics when the Super-case/Maxi ceramic Subs came out. After a few years the prices went a little below original retail. This was the time when anyone could get 5513, 5512, red Subs for a bargain. The Big crown Subs, Comex, and Mil-Subs were in the $12-$25k range. There were very few online resellers. Then again this was different because Rolex wasn't holding back. They stocked the AD's with plenty of watches. The market was flooded with 40mm ceramic Subs. These 40mm Subs will not go above $10k because there are too many of them. Right now the pre-ceramic Subs are selling for over $8k in shit condition. IMO these pre-ceramic Subs are not worth more than $6k. Crap bracelets, aluminum bezels, poor build compared ceramic Subs. HUGE difference in quality.

When you see the secondary market glutted with Subs, it’s pretty obvious the vaunted Rolex dealer network has dumped their allotments for extra profit and Rolex is fine with that.

I have the new OP 41 that has the same movement. Funny I never even noticed the rotor movement sound. I took it off and shook it and yes- I can totally hear it. But on the wrist I don’t hear or feel it at all. So as long as I don’t shake it next to my ear it’s silent as a mouse.
I have a 5513 that I purchased in 1969 . I wore that watch for years , having it serviced about every 5 yrs or so . Great watch with extreme sentimental value. About 2012 I decided to retire it and get another sub , the super case 116610LN. Of corse there's a huge difference in case design, but I rather like this sub. True to Rolex , it's accurate, robust and reliable , alm while being assembled using the best materials and craftsmanship that rolex is known for . I certainly understand the nay sayers when they talk about the super case , but everything is a journey, even for rolex . Am I going to get the new 126610 . Yes , I'm picking it up this week . Will I keep my super case ? Of course. It's been a faithful watch , just as my 5513 has been . I have what I consider to be a pretty nice collection that I've spent 50 yrs collecting, but I have to say that I'm partial to my Rolex watches. For me , there are no bad ones . Just my opinion.
I’ve had both 114060 and 124060 (currently in collection) and I have a wider wrist, the move to make it slightly bigger makes a big impact on how it looks and feels on the wrist. The new version feels right at home with the wider bracelet, as it covers more “real estate” on the wrist. But they slimmed down the case and lugs and it looks more elegant and feels more comfortable. To me is a win. People complain about the rotor making a noise and prefer the old movement...I mean c’mon, movement has 14 patents, yes...14. Crazy. The noise you hear is that they put ball bearing rotors, Their ceramic bearings are sealed in a lubricated enclosure, which supposedly will last through decades of use without needing replaced. 70 hr power reserve, Chronergy Escapement with thinner pallet stones and double escape wheel teeth. 15% increased efficiency Balance Staff: Friction-fit Shock Absorbers: Paraflex The 124060 is definitely a much superior watch in my humble opinion. :)
I love the aggressive look of the 116610. It looks better than the old 5 digits and better than the new Sub. It was brave for Rolex and now we are back to the same old same old

@@mislem rolex market to sell not dealing to sell. They play it safe with their designs and use all these games to create a sense of exclusivity. They keep costs down with basic robust movements thats are always hidden away, even on the dressy pieces to maximise profits and dodge tax buy calling themselves charitable.
Mistakes now will be sought after in future. The maxi case going to be a legend if not already. 114060 is so perfect should I say imperfect in so many levels that is very unique. It has the killer clasp nice size compare to the 2020 version and more importantly it is very substantial watch compare to the previous 14060 version. 2020 version with the movement noise, sounds very cheap and did not sound luxurious. 114060 for my wrist size of 6.5” fits much better. The new 124060 clasp feels over size for me.
Couldn’t agree more! I got the call for my 116610 just before September fully knowing a new sub was likley coming out. While I like the narrow lugs, I think there is something special about the super case. Also, the wide bracelet and even wider clasp isn’t as elegant. Bottom line, any sub is a good sub and if you are offered one from an AD...take it.
For sure, any Sub is a good Sub, however I feel this era of super case will be respected and lusted over by the many who came into the watch hobby during these years, or those who prefer something a little more distinct (if we can say that about a Sub LOL). It's all personal preference but the bulkier case actually wears better on my smaller wrist in a way that slimmer lugs do not.
Never owned a Submariner before, so the new 124060 is a new experience and by god its a great one, incredibly comfortable on the wrist, impressively accurate, stunning to look at and a privilege to own, going to enjoy having this watch on the wrist.
Really sorry to burst your bubble, but I own both the old and the new ceramic Submariners, and I can tell you, the old one is by far a more comfortable watch to wear and in my opinion, I prefer the maxi case over the new case, personal preference, I guess, oh and the Hulk is by far a better looking watch than the new Kermit......
Some years have passed and I have sold my 41 and returned to the Sub 40. The 41 has a wider bracelet that makes the visual lug to lug skyrocket. The Sub40 is the one to have.
You only hear the rota if you shake it next to your ear, I don't know about you but I normally wear my watches on my wrist not on my ear as a result I don't hear any noise.

Tool doesn't mean it needs to be ugly. Just functional. They haven't been tool watches for some time, you don't need to pay 10k for a steel watch to look or feel masculine. It just says you care about what people think, you'd pay more for the name that the function.
If you like it then who cares. The problem is most Rolex wearer want the ego stroke. Besides that value is going up is about hype, supply and demand and so many people looking to make a quick buck over this asset bubble. I like the new no date as a watch, I hate the cyclops but sure I would buy it to flip. Thats what propping up you price.

If they do, I would think they would purchase something that is going to gather more attention than a small watch. I have NEVER got any sort of compliment on my watch and I’m guessing people don’t even notice it. I love my sub and it give me a sense of pride to wear because it it so lovely to look at. It is built so well and looks different in all kinds of light. I love all my other less expensive watches in the same way. Personally could never purchase an inflated watch on the grey market. I would rather wait. I agree with you on the cyclops, I really like the symmetry without it.
@@riseuplight I would wait for as long as it takes. It really depends though. You won’t have to wait years for a Sub but you would for a Datona. I just can’t bring myself to pay over SRP for any watch or for anything really.
That loud spinning rotor i had no idea about and now has me not interested in the new generation. My explorer doesn't make that sound at all. Only my 7s26s do.

I personally prefer the older sub with the maxi case. Looks more modern. The latest sub has taken a step back and just looks like all the previous models.
I’m surprised that nobody is talking about the fact that a 21mm bracelet on a sub will lead to greater availability of 21mm straps for the masses; that’s a win for the whole community in my book.
The vast majority of Rolex wearers keep there watch on the bracelet but I suppose the 100k or so submariners every year means even a small percent is a large number.

The diehard rolex fans you never say it but it was always boxy. I dont love or hate rolex but as soon as I saw the old one it was clear to be the lugs were too wide and the bracelet taper to extreme in comparison. Never liked the dirty cyclops either, but the fans will tell you its not a rolex without it. No date new sub...probably never see one.
Great video content, as always Adrian. I know these watches will withstand most knocks and bumps, but they do scratch easily , way too easily in my humble opinion. This video made me cringe, every time you handled the watches. By the way, were you in a rush?
Absolutely agree! The new, thinner lugs takes Rolex back the more sleek design. I thought the previous “Super Case” was anything but. They have made the same correction on the GMT Masters and I am now on the list to purchase both at my AD.
Definitely prefer the new ones, they look much more elegant, even though the measurable differences are small. I might be odd on this one, but I really like the Al bezel compared to the newer ceramic ones. The green is much brighter and in my eyes looks much better. Unless it's black, the ceramic insert looks a bit dull in my opinion.
I have a Sub (114060) which I simply ADORE and wear it every day! Calling the -now- previous generation case "a mistake" for simply 0.3mm difference with the new Sub case seems to be "a little bit of an exaggeration" Adam. Anyway, you're still in my good books... (not that you care!) :D
I think by ,"mistake" it just comes down to the shape of the lugs. Not having them taper makes the whole watch look blocky. It's not the measurements so much as the lack of taper.
I have them both and although they are slightly different in the ways you explain both designs are fantastic and I like them equally. The rotor sound doesn’t bother me at all.
I’m exhausted listening. You made this video as though you still only had 30mins and you took 20mins setting up. I’ve tried both and don’t mind the previous gen. For me, the slightly larger bracelet is a negative to me. If you want bigger, go bigger with a Sea Dweller.

I was about to purchase a Submariner when the Maxi case with the bulky lugs was introduced. I was so irked that I literally forced myself to wait until it was improved upon. I'm happy to say the wait was worth it :-)
It’s actually the microphone positioning amplifying the sound. The mic was pointed at my chest to pick up my voice, but cut out the mouth noises. This meant the mic was aimed near where the watches were being moved about. No damage done.

I enjoy his videos more than most as he only tries to overtly sell his own product or through a code here and there that said to be a content creator you have to have some slight wiggle room to promote brands otherwise he'd never get this line up of watches. Tried them both and there really isn't that much of a difference on the wrist. I'm not convinced by the clearly bigger face of the new models. I think the previous generation look more muscular and prefer them. All down to personal taste I suppose
I think the ‘maxi Sub’ is special in it’s own way. Tried a new one 41mm, actually when they put it on the table I asked ‘did you bring me SD43, I wanted new Sub’ LOL. 😂 Bracelet is to wide for my taste, overall look is to big, and lugs are thinner. Hey dude, have you noticed the new subs’ laser etched crown at 6 o’clock is also different? Check it out man. And it indicates that the new sub has an anti reflective coating on the underside of the sapphire crystal. 😉 check it out. And the magnification on the new sub is slightly more magnified than the older sub... I also notice several more differences..... I think that many people hasn’t really noticed yet.... ✌️ peace man!
Not hearing the movement is exactly one of those things that sets a premium watch apart from a sub-premium watch. You should not hear it on a Rolex. A shame.
True but I don't think you'll hear it in normal wear. Are you going to spin it that hard near your ear. Even the JLC movements have used ceramics, they will last longer with less need to service
I’d love one but near impossible to get at retail price brand new, can’t find one anywhere in the UK sadly! Seems the only way to get one is to spend £5k+ more by funding all these scalpers like Chronext, which in turn keeps the stupid system going instead of being able to go and just buy one from an AD, which I don’t think is acceptable.
I dig the new ones but not enough to go through the trouble of getting one. I'll stick with my 114060. I also have my doubts about the larger bracelet and clasp, I'd like to try it out. I feel the bracelet and clasp on the 114060 are already really beefy, not sure I would want them to be any bigger.
Maybe it's me, but I've always enjoyed the rotor noise of my 7750s, SW200, Seiko 8R28, and Miyota 90s5. Nothing like flinging your wrist and hearing something mechanical churning away.
The Tudor movement is a completely different development. The 32xx calibers from rolex are an evolution of the previous 31xx generation that retains the 31xx overall architecture. The gain in power reserve was mainly achieved by 3 things: a more efficient escapement, a longer mainspring made possible by a larger inner barrel diameter and revised gear geometries and lubricants.
All those watches and only a 6 min video! Don’t rush this man. Hope to see more on these. I missed the hulk and probably missed the new one as I’m not on any list. They look seriously cool.
I have the 114060 and tried the 124060 on at the rolex store. Even if you put them side by side you hardly notice the difference between the two watches to be completly honest. Whats really to notice is the anit reflective coating on the new model, but thats it.
Lying side by side the 16110 LN/LV are still my favourites. Aluminium bezels look much better than ceramic ones. Proportions of the fivedigits are more aesthetically pleasing.
Great video and I've heard the bracelet/clasp feels too big on the new version. Glide lock is a big clasp anyway and the additional width of the bracelet would concern me. Overall its a bigger watch and I feel the previous version hit the sweet spot. Even with the fatter lugs
Hello I have the 114060 and my best mate just got the new 124060 (2 of them actually as had his name down and got 2 calls the same week) - side by side and on wrist they look almost identical - you have to really look to know which is the 40 and 41 , so much so I know my serial number off by heart and had to make sure I got the 114060 back
I'm interested in purchasing a Rolex. My would-be very first Rolex but don't want to play the "A.D. game" I've heard so much about. I'm not begging or kissing anyone's ass to purchase their products. So that's where it's at. Great video 👍

Haven’t heard or read the 0.3mm differences on the bezel mentioned by any reviews on Internet ! These are the minute details needed...not just repeating the Rolex numbers by the other reviewers.
Great informative video. There was a transition @2:43 from slow movement to quick movement to stationary when showing the clasp. I don't think was intentional however, it worked very well and made me focus more. Might be something to look into. Look forward to the next video!
In natural light, what is the green bezel actually like? Some images have the green pale and lack lustre, while some show a darker richer look. Thoughts?
Aesthetically 99.5% the same and effectively 0.3mm smaller diameter a Rolex mistake? Why is everyone not concerned about the 0.3mm magnification compared to the past? Honestly, these are both fantastic clocks. The 114060 is more original in diameter and the 124060 in lugs. Mistake is very inappropriate word choice in my opinion. regards
Adrian need your honest opinion since this vid is all about size!! I have a Sea dweller 116600- the perfect 40mm and tapered lugs, only downside is the 14.5mm thickness. I did consider the maxi case version, but put off by the size. The newer looks even bigger?? Should i cash in on my 116600 and get the latest sub??
What I think of them....boring in one word. If you had not put up the new and previous tags, I wouldn't have been able to tell which was which and that's the point. No one would be able to tell it's the new one unless someone asks. So what's the fuss about a 'New' design. I feel being conservative is good to a point but after 30-40 years or more of having the same design and same case, Rolex needs a fresh more modern look. Maybe not as radical as the AP 11.59 but still. A design that is futuristic enough that it could take them into the next 30-40 years
We all know size only matters in the porn trade not the watch business. Material quality, improved movement does apply I will give you that. A Rolex is a Rolex, we all know that they are a world brand and manufacture good watches but their reputation is not built on size, unlike John Holmes. PS I own a 40mm 2020, but did not let influence my post. Keep up the good work.
OK there's a bigger power reserve, a more noisy movement and a miniscule size difference in the dial and bracelet wow we have a new Rolex, this is how Rolex con the public....is it really worth buying the new one if you have an older version? If an AD offers you one at retail then perhaps yes if you have the money....but otherwise NO for me!! The new Oyster Perpetual doesn't even fit a larger wrist, shame on Rolex! Extra links have to be purchased by the buyer.
Are you serious? You "hated" the previous version? I would bet that if someone mixed 6 black dial/bez subs up with three being the old version & 3 being the new one, masked the dial (so you can't see the obvious dial changes) & asked you to accurately divide them into old/new in 5 seconds from a distance of 5 feet you couldn't do it. This is silly..
I agree. Almost like they built a case with wider lugs and then decided to attach a bracelet to the case. It's a mismatch. Seiko have designed their bracelets to flow off the case almost as if they were one. Eg; tuna, monster. Not.to mention the Oris Tt1, titan and Aquis. Far advanced in comparison. At least Rolex have dragged it back to some kind of balance and proportion, but could still do better considering who and what they are.
for once I think you are being harsh on the old ceramic sub... the new one is great.. but the old one is amazing too, yes some people (.1%) complained on the lugs, but for the other 99.9% including me that watch was close to perfection... is the new one better? I bet it is, is Rolex after all, but I don’t see people bashing on the 5 digit subs with flimsy bracelets and aluminum scratch prone bezel, because it was the benchmark, and it’s still a great watch, same for the first ceramic subs... so don’t be a watch snob man... it wasn’t a mistake on design, it was the reflection of that specific era
I got the call from my AD last month and purchased the two toned Bluesy Sub. The movement doesn’t make a sound. I have excellent hearing and it’s quiet. Maybe it’s just that particular watch.
1mm out 0f 40 is 2.5%; human eye can pick up difference in size by 10% at least, anything smaller than 10% is not significant to the eye. Unless Rolex rise to 44mm like the sea dweller deep sea, you won’t see the difference.
Most people I talked with about Rolex SUB didn’t like so called maxi-case. I personally don’t like this FAT look neither. New version is slimmer and much more attractive then the previous one.

Will I keep my super case ? Of course. It's been a faithful watch , just as my 5513 has been . I have what I consider to be a pretty nice collection that I've spent 50 yrs collecting, but I have to say that I'm partial to my Rolex watches. For me , there are no bad ones . Just my opinion.
I’ve had both 114060 and 124060 (currently in collection) and I have a wider wrist, the move to make it slightly bigger makes a big impact on how it looks and feels on the wrist. The new version feels right at home with the wider bracelet, as it covers more “real estate” on the wrist. But they slimmed down the case and lugs and it looks more elegant and feels more comfortable. To me is a win.
People complain about the rotor making a noise and prefer the old movement...I mean c’mon, movement has 14 patents, yes...14. Crazy. The noise you hear is that they put ball bearing rotors, Their ceramic bearings are sealed in a lubricated enclosure, which supposedly will last through decades of use without needing replaced. 70 hr power reserve, Chronergy Escapement with thinner pallet stones and double escape wheel teeth. 15% increased efficiency

The 124060 is definitely a much superior watch in my humble opinion. :)
I’ve got the 114060... though I tend to agree that the new gen is an improvement, I feel it’s a bit harsh to call it a mistake.

I have a June 2020 and love the bigger lugs. And I’m a small wristed female lol.
I love the aggressive look of the 116610. It looks better than the old 5 digits and better than the new Sub. It was brave for Rolex and now we are back to the same old same old

absolutely ! you cant tell the differences just looking at them, you need to zoom in .... 99.99% of the public would say it's the exact same watch.
Mistakes now will be sought after in future. The maxi case going to be a legend if not already. 114060 is so perfect should I say imperfect in so many levels that is very unique. It has the killer clasp nice size compare to the 2020 version and more importantly it is very substantial watch compare to the previous 14060 version. 2020 version with the movement noise, sounds very cheap and did not sound luxurious. 114060 for my wrist size of 6.5” fits much better. The new 124060 clasp feels over size for me.
Couldn’t agree more! I got the call for my 116610 just before September fully knowing a new sub was likley coming out. While I like the narrow lugs, I think there is something special about the super case. Also, the wide bracelet and even wider clasp isn’t as elegant. Bottom line, any sub is a good sub and if you are offered one from an AD...take it.
For sure, any Sub is a good Sub, however I feel this era of super case will be respected and lusted over by the many who came into the watch hobby during these years, or those who prefer something a little more distinct (if we can say that about a Sub LOL). It's all personal preference but the bulkier case actually wears better on my smaller wrist in a way that slimmer lugs do not.
Never owned a Submariner before, so the new 124060 is a new experience and by god its a great one, incredibly comfortable on the wrist, impressively accurate, stunning to look at and a privilege to own, going to enjoy having this watch on the wrist.
And it had a 2 year shorter run than the 116610 (and probably lower production numbers too)
Really sorry to burst your bubble, but I own both the old and the new ceramic Submariners, and I can tell you, the old one is by far a more comfortable watch to wear and in my opinion, I prefer the maxi case over the new case, personal preference, I guess, oh and the Hulk is by far a better looking watch than the new Kermit......
Some years have passed and I have sold my 41 and returned to the Sub 40. The 41 has a wider bracelet that makes the visual lug to lug skyrocket.
The Sub40 is the one to have.
The case differences are minor, but the rotor sound is not
You only hear the rota if you shake it next to your ear, I don't know about you but I normally wear my watches on my wrist not on my ear as a result I don't hear any noise.

I have NEVER got any sort of compliment on my watch and I’m guessing people don’t even notice it. I love my sub and it give me a sense of pride to wear because it it so lovely to look at. It is built so well and looks different in all kinds of light. I love all my other less expensive watches in the same way. Personally could never purchase an inflated watch on the grey market. I would rather wait. I agree with you on the cyclops, I really like the symmetry without it.

That loud spinning rotor i had no idea about and now has me not interested in the new generation. My explorer doesn't make that sound at all. Only my 7s26s do.

I have a 3230 powered OP and the rotor noise is not noticeable unless I hold it up to my ear and shake it. It’s a non-issue as far as I’m concerned.

I’m surprised that nobody is talking about the fact that a 21mm bracelet on a sub will lead to greater availability of 21mm straps for the masses; that’s a win for the whole community in my book.
Definetely a plus for the community in the long run, it will suck for the few lucky ones with a new sub for the first few months/years though.
The vast majority of Rolex wearers keep there watch on the bracelet but I suppose the 100k or so submariners every year means even a small percent is a large number.
Hopefully, I really want to buy the Hanhart 417 ES but the 21mm is putting me off. i want to be able to change out the strap with ease.
I don't know. Relatively few Sub owners use a strap, so I don't think the new Sub will move the needle regarding 21mm strap availability.

I dont love or hate rolex but as soon as I saw the old one it was clear to be the lugs were too wide and the bracelet taper to extreme in comparison. Never liked the dirty cyclops either, but the fans will tell you its not a rolex without it.

Definitely prefer the new ones, they look much more elegant, even though the measurable differences are small. I might be odd on this one, but I really like the Al bezel compared to the newer ceramic ones. The green is much brighter and in my eyes looks much better. Unless it's black, the ceramic insert looks a bit dull in my opinion.

I have a Sub (114060) which I simply ADORE and wear it every day! Calling the -now- previous generation case "a mistake" for simply 0.3mm difference with the new Sub case seems to be "a little bit of an exaggeration" Adam. Anyway, you're still in my good books... (not that you care!) :D

I think by ,"mistake" it just comes down to the shape of the lugs. Not having them taper makes the whole watch look blocky. It's not the measurements so much as the lack of taper.

I have them both and although they are slightly different in the ways you explain both designs are fantastic and I like them equally. The rotor sound doesn’t bother me at all.

I was about to purchase a Submariner when the Maxi case with the bulky lugs was introduced. I was so irked that I literally forced myself to wait until it was improved upon. I'm happy to say the wait was worth it :-)

It’s actually the microphone positioning amplifying the sound. The mic was pointed at my chest to pick up my voice, but cut out the mouth noises. This meant the mic was aimed near where the watches were being moved about. No damage done.
I think the overall video he was a bit rushed and highly caffeinated. Usually love his content but this one sounded like a rushed auctioneer

Tried them both and there really isn't that much of a difference on the wrist. I'm not convinced by the clearly bigger face of the new models. I think the previous generation look more muscular and prefer them. All down to personal taste I suppose

I think the ‘maxi Sub’ is special in it’s own way. Tried a new one 41mm, actually when they put it on the table I asked ‘did you bring me SD43, I wanted new Sub’ LOL. 😂 Bracelet is to wide for my taste, overall look is to big, and lugs are thinner. It’s just not my cup of tea, but that’s only me. Maxi case is going be legendary watch, mark my words.

Hey dude, have you noticed the new subs’ laser etched crown at 6 o’clock is also different? Check it out man. And it indicates that the new sub has an anti reflective coating on the underside of the sapphire crystal. 😉 check it out. And the magnification on the new sub is slightly more magnified than the older sub... I also notice several more differences..... I think that many people hasn’t really noticed yet.... ✌️ peace man!

Not hearing the movement is exactly one of those things that sets a premium watch apart from a sub-premium watch. You should not hear it on a Rolex. A shame.
True but I don't think you'll hear it in normal wear. Are you going to spin it that hard near your ear.
Even the JLC movements have used ceramics, they will last longer with less need to service

Love the new 124060. Picked up last week after a 2 year wait and along with my Air King 'Bloodhound', two watches I couldn't be happier with!
I’d love one but near impossible to get at retail price brand new, can’t find one anywhere in the UK sadly! Seems the only way to get one is to spend £5k+ more by funding all these scalpers like Chronext, which in turn keeps the stupid system going instead of being able to go and just buy one from an AD, which I don’t think is acceptable.
I dig the new ones but not enough to go through the trouble of getting one. I'll stick with my 114060. I also have my doubts about the larger bracelet and clasp, I'd like to try it out. I feel the bracelet and clasp on the 114060 are already really beefy, not sure I would want them to be any bigger.

Maybe it's me, but I've always enjoyed the rotor noise of my 7750s, SW200, Seiko 8R28, and Miyota 90s5. Nothing like flinging your wrist and hearing something mechanical churning away.
The oldest Sub here still looks the best by far. The current one certainly an improvement over the last horror though.

Well Tudor is kind of their experimental/test branch in a lot of ways...
The Tudor movement is a completely different development. The 32xx calibers from rolex are an evolution of the previous 31xx generation that retains the 31xx overall architecture. The gain in power reserve was mainly achieved by 3 things: a more efficient escapement, a longer mainspring made possible by a larger inner barrel diameter and revised gear geometries and lubricants.

I have the 114060 and tried the 124060 on at the rolex store. Even if you put them side by side you hardly notice the difference between the two watches to be completly honest. Whats really to notice is the anit reflective coating on the new model, but thats it.
The rotor on my 16570 is totally silent. I guess that's progress.
Lying side by side the 16110 LN/LV are still my favourites. Aluminium bezels look much better than ceramic ones. Proportions of the fivedigits are more aesthetically pleasing.
Great video and I've heard the bracelet/clasp feels too big on the new version. Glide lock is a big clasp anyway and the additional width of the bracelet would concern me. Overall its a bigger watch and I feel the previous version hit the sweet spot. Even with the fatter lugs
Yeah the bracelet does initially feel big. But I got used to it very quickly.

Hello I have the 114060 and my best mate just got the new 124060 (2 of them actually as had his name down and got 2 calls the same week) - side by side and on wrist they look almost identical - you have to really look to know which is the 40 and 41 , so much so I know my serial number off by heart and had to make sure I got the 114060 back
I'm interested in purchasing a Rolex. My would-be very first Rolex but don't want to play the "A.D. game" I've heard so much about. I'm not begging or kissing anyone's ass to purchase their products. So that's where it's at. Great video 👍

Haven’t heard or read the 0.3mm differences on the bezel mentioned by any reviews on Internet ! These are the minute details needed...not just repeating the Rolex numbers by the other reviewers.
Great informative video. There was a transition @2:43 from slow movement to quick movement to stationary when showing the clasp. I don't think was intentional however, it worked very well and made me focus more. Might be something to look into.

I have a Sea dweller 116600- the perfect 40mm and tapered lugs, only downside is the 14.5mm thickness. I did consider the maxi case version, but put off by the size. The newer looks even bigger??

What I think of them....boring in one word. If you had not put up the new and previous tags, I wouldn't have been able to tell which was which and that's the point. No one would be able to tell it's the new one unless someone asks. So what's the fuss about a 'New' design. I feel being conservative is good to a point but after 30-40 years or more of having the same design and same case, Rolex needs a fresh more modern look. Maybe not as radical as the AP 11.59 but still. A design that is futuristic enough that it could take them into the next 30-40 years
We all know size only matters in the porn trade not the watch business. Material quality, improved movement does apply I will give you that. A Rolex is a Rolex, we all know that they are a world brand and manufacture good watches but their reputation is not built on size, unlike John Holmes. PS I own a 40mm 2020, but did not let influence my post. Keep up the good work.
OK there's a bigger power reserve, a more noisy movement and a miniscule size difference in the dial and bracelet wow we have a new Rolex, this is how Rolex con the public....is it really worth buying the new one if you have an older version?

The new Oyster Perpetual doesn't even fit a larger wrist, shame on Rolex! Extra links have to be purchased by the buyer.
Since I could care less about Rolex I can objectively say the new “redesign” is spot on. Watches for flippers and dirty ADs rather wear an Arsa.

I would bet that if someone mixed 6 black dial/bez subs up with three being the old version & 3 being the new one, masked the dial (so you can't see the obvious dial changes) & asked you to accurately divide them into old/new in 5 seconds from a distance of 5 feet you couldn't do it.

I agree. Almost like they built a case with wider lugs and then decided to attach a bracelet to the case. It's a mismatch. Seiko have designed their bracelets to flow off the case almost as if they were one. Eg; tuna, monster. Not.to mention the Oris Tt1, titan and Aquis. Far advanced in comparison. At least Rolex have dragged it back to some kind of balance and proportion, but could still do better considering who and what they are.

I bet it is, is Rolex after all, but I don’t see people bashing on the 5 digit subs with flimsy bracelets and aluminum scratch prone bezel, because it was the benchmark, and it’s still a great watch, same for the first ceramic subs... so don’t be a watch snob man... it wasn’t a mistake on design, it was the reflection of that specific era
I got the call from my AD last month and purchased the two toned Bluesy Sub. The movement doesn’t make a sound. I have excellent hearing and it’s quiet. Maybe it’s just that particular watch.
1mm out 0f 40 is 2.5%; human eye can pick up difference in size by 10% at least, anything smaller than 10% is not significant to the eye. Unless Rolex rise to 44mm like the sea dweller deep sea, you won’t see the difference.
Most people I talked with about Rolex SUB didn’t like so called maxi-case. I personally don’t like this FAT look neither. New version is slimmer and much more attractive then the previous one.
