Toji is the epitome of "That Guy". I became conflicted when he took out Riko, because I loved his character so much, but also really loved Riko. Then sort of redeemed himself in the Shibuya arc. And like Legato Bluesummers from Trigun he won through dying.

The thing that makes Toji such a good character in my opinion is how he embodies sheer human will power. He isn't a shamen, he isn't someone like Sukuna who has an insane amount of CE. He's just a regular human that's very strong and is one of the few characters that was able to beat one of the strongest characters in the story of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Two Enlightened men clash to the death, but Toji's desire to prove himself by killing the strongest man in all of jujutsu society made him "less" than Gojo at that moment. Gojo himself thinks "Sorry, Amanai. Right now, I'm not angry for you, nor do I feel vengeful toward anyone. Right now, it's just that everything feels right." He's literally unable to muster feelings of revenge, while revenge (for the jujutsu society) is what's making Toji fight.
Id also like to believe he gave up somewhat, his wife died and his son was set to be the prodigy in the family. He ignored his instincts and just kept on going for he had nothing to lose.

Toji is such a cool character, he used his existence as an anomaly in the world of cursed energy as an advantage. It will be great for the anime to fully adapt Hidden inventory and shibuya.

I have a special place in my heart for Toji. He and Maki have the same circumstances, but are their own characters. It could have been easy for Gege to copy-paste his story onto her but different endings. But they are “similar” not the “same.” His story breaks my heart because of how it ends. I always root for the ones that are called, weak. Hence why Maki and Toji are my favorites. Gege knows how to write op characters that never get boring or stale. I wish things were different for him. It breaks my heart people chalk him up to just a murderer and deadbeat dad. (Gonna get sappy) I have a deadbeat dad and “stepdads”. I know what they look like and how they act. They don’t care about the children. Just paying child support and being free when we’re 18. This man loved his children. Just in a different way.
Toji is an assassin willing to killing anyone who gets in the way in bounty such as Riko and Satoru so he is a murderer, its the deadbeat dad part I disagree with, he may not be the best person out there and he knows that but he still loves and cares for his son and he knows he wasn't the best person to take care of him, but he still didn't want his son to end up like him and gave him everything he could to give his son the best future he could have and even backups in case others fail.

One thing I love about Toji’s death, is who inherited what from him, let me put in into words: Gojo went out and “Inherited” Megumi, and his blessing. While Geto found his gut curse. Gojo getting the “blessing”, and Geto getting the “Curse.”
Great video. Toji Fushiguro is one of my favorite characters in the series. I love how Toji is one of if not the most impactful character with regards to the events that take place in the series. He’s so great!
In his quest to prove to himself he’s better than jujutsu society, he led himself to the pinnacle of sorcery. Defeats (jumps) him and completes his mission. His hubris leads him to fight Gojo once again, being killed in the process. If he wasn’t so obsessed with proving himself better than jujutsu society he would have truly won, gaining what he desired. Respect (overwhelming fear) from the zenin clan and the rest of the members in jjk
When I was reading the manga I thought Toji was the coolest mf alive. Definitely one of my favorite characters because he left one hell of an impact on me
2:57 While yes Toji (and by extension Maki) can feel out curses, Toji does actually see curses. It's actually the inverse, Jujutsu sorcerers see curses through their sixth sense due to their ability to control CE, but Toji and Maki's lack of curse energy enhances all of their senses to where they can see CE and curses as well as the experiencial world beyond that.
I’d assume the “cut everything sword” is a Muramasa made weapon since it is likely that in the world of JJK Muramasa was a special grade cursed item blacksmith.
I find using Xiao to contrast against Toji's outfit in terms of price actually incredibly funny and fitting. Its an apt comparison, especially considering most Liu gear we see in Ruina is higher grade gear. However what makes me laugh, and does prove a really good point is the fact that both are still designed to show off the fact those two are essentially walking death machines. Xiao's Liu Outfit is set up to defend against most forms of damage thanks to special construction of the outfit via Moonstones from a Corporation. Toshi has cheap, but visibly useful gear considering it means he basically is in an ideal combat outfit for this universe since there doesnt seem to be any specific clothes a sorcerer can wear that protects them. In essence, both do the same thing but in different ways and thats really funny and really cool imo.
He actually can straight up see curses, just as a note. He says he can perceive them with all his senses, as well as the fact that Maki was able to hear vengeful spirit naoya.
YO, I waited for this video for sooo long. Best character in the series and exceptional even outside of it. Also I think his writing is outstanding, with relatively little screen time he becomes on of the most important characters in the series while being surprisingly extensively flashed out. Amazing work.
sometimes when i read manga, i feel like its hard for me to keep track of everything going on. that being said this was an amazing analysis of tojis character, the breakdown of his abilities, ideology and lifetime. now i can truly appreciate him instead of just seeing him as a strong bad guy. great video !!
Toji was a god damn legend among legends. A living curse on his evil clan, the person who walked into history and changed everything and the one man who out of everyone in the series showed that a heavenly restriction wasn't always a curse but an even greater tool to someone like himself. But I genuinely wonder what would've happened if Toji stayed alive after getting revived and how he'd react to seeing what happens to his son and what a fight between him and Sukuna would've been like. Tho im happy that we got to see what we did of his story and how it ended very nicely and on HIS terms
roland's theme and gone angels being mainstays in this video is a very nice touch, along with just shots of him (and that one shot of durandal). weirdly similar characters, despite very different personalities, have pretty common situations and even fighting styles
Well there's some Sun Wukong reference in a different battle. When Yuta used his hair to summon mini shikigami its the kinda same move that Wukong use in battle where he can summon clone copy of himself with his hairs.

Originally I didn’t know too much about Toji and JJK and it’s fucked up world… now with this knowledge, I gotta say. He and Todo are officially MY FAVORITE characters in JJK and Toji son that hands down!
I guess the Zenin family is not only racist to weak cursed users but also sexist as they either tried to kill Maki once she crossed the threshold of power on Toji's level because they didn't think she was close to being that strong or tried to kill her before she got that strong. Yet the fact that the Zenin family pray & thanked a higher existence that Toji didn't just outright kill them straight up out of immense fear and terror.
Fushiguro isn’t Megumi’s mother’s name. That’s the name of Tsumiki’s mother, which we figure since Kong has known Toji for like. A decade, and according to Gege, took care of Megumi when he was a baby. Kong calls Toji “Zen’in” when he gives him the Star Plasma Vessel mission, and is corrected by Toji, who we assume changed his name then, during his second marriage. At least, this is what many accept as fact.
Say what you want about this man, but any person that remotely even came close to taking out Gojo is a true badass in my eyes. Sidenote - it was hilarious whenever he was like “Megumi…? Who dat is? .-.”
My own understanding : toji ending himself is the denial of material immortality and endorses verbal immortality. By this I mean that he denies what kenjaku and Sukuna are doing by reviving themselves.
Slight factual error: Megumi's mom is not Mrs. Fushiguro and we don't know if he married her or if they were just lovers. She probably died shortly after childbirth. The surname of Fushiguro belongs to Tsumiki's mom, whom Toji had married before the start of the Hidden Inventory arc. When Megumi first meets Gojo, he even mentions about his dad and Tsumiki's mom disappearing. Also note that Akutami never calls Megumi's biological mother "Mrs. Fushiguro" or "Mama-guro" (as Toji is called "Papa-guro"), but instead Akutami calls her "Megu-mama" or "Megumi's mama." It's an easy mistake to make given how vague the manga is, but we don't actually know anything about Megumi's mom at all.

Also the guy who hired Toji (Shiu kon I think his name was) knew Toji for a long time, in the fanbook they said he used to visit Toji to help him take care of Megumi. So he knows about Megumi and Megumi's mama. But Shiu kon didn't know about Toji getting married and taking the name Fushiguro. Which means Toji still had the name Zenin when he was with Megumi's mom.

Toji reminds me a lot of Akaza. A man that gave up everything but fighting. Of course they're way different, but the concept felt familiar, and that felt so cool and badass to me, and probably to others as well

Two Enlightened men clash to the death, but Toji's desire to prove himself by killing the strongest man in all of jujutsu society made him "less" than Gojo at that moment.
Gojo himself thinks "Sorry, Amanai. Right now, I'm not angry for you, nor do I feel vengeful toward anyone. Right now, it's just that everything feels right." He's literally unable to muster feelings of revenge, while revenge (for the jujutsu society) is what's making Toji fight.
Id also like to believe he gave up somewhat, his wife died and his son was set to be the prodigy in the family. He ignored his instincts and just kept on going for he had nothing to lose.
With all the Project Moon references in Meti's videos lately, I honestly hope we get an overview on a character from the franchise soon. It would be interesting to see an analysis on Roland, Angela, or any of the Sephira.
Same for me, I honestly didn't think I would see a Project Moon game to be in a video, although I probably heard one of the music in another video. The one I want to see is Roland's, but it will be a spoiler to most.

@@hassanayman1319 shibuya incident arc is 57 chapters, 1 anime episode usually contains 2-4 chapters. It is very much possible that they will be able to do all of shibuya, especially since it's mostly action packed and they're gonna have 19 episodes left of season 2 after the current arc
ngl i find it halarious how he pulls out a glock mid fight, and makes me realize how simple it is for a lot of people in the jujutsuverse to simply dont have thee reaction time or ability to survive a gun

I have a special place in my heart for Toji. He and Maki have the same circumstances, but are their own characters. It could have been easy for Gege to copy-paste his story onto her but different endings. But they are “similar” not the “same.” His story breaks my heart because of how it ends. I always root for the ones that are called, weak. Hence why Maki and Toji are my favorites. Gege knows how to write op characters that never get boring or stale. I wish things were different for him. It breaks my heart people chalk him up to just a murderer and deadbeat dad.
(Gonna get sappy) I have a deadbeat dad and “stepdads”. I know what they look like and how they act. They don’t care about the children. Just paying child support and being free when we’re 18. This man loved his children. Just in a different way.
Toji is an assassin willing to killing anyone who gets in the way in bounty such as Riko and Satoru so he is a murderer, its the deadbeat dad part I disagree with, he may not be the best person out there and he knows that but he still loves and cares for his son and he knows he wasn't the best person to take care of him, but he still didn't want his son to end up like him and gave him everything he could to give his son the best future he could have and even backups in case others fail.

Haven’t got around to that part in the story yet but every time I see Maki I just think she looks like a knock off toji, leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
@@DMAN99 at first it does seem like that, but as mentioned the difference between their stories, Toji story is tragic whereas Maki story for me is all about her finding her self worth in a world that views people like her as useless
One thing I love about Toji’s death, is who inherited what from him, let me put in into words: Gojo went out and “Inherited” Megumi, and his blessing. While Geto found his gut curse. Gojo getting the “blessing”, and Geto getting the “Curse.”

Great video. Toji Fushiguro is one of my favorite characters in the series. I love how Toji is one of if not the most impactful character with regards to the events that take place in the series. He’s so great!
In his quest to prove to himself he’s better than jujutsu society, he led himself to the pinnacle of sorcery. Defeats (jumps) him and completes his mission. His hubris leads him to fight Gojo once again, being killed in the process. If he wasn’t so obsessed with proving himself better than jujutsu society he would have truly won, gaining what he desired. Respect (overwhelming fear) from the zenin clan and the rest of the members in jjk
When I was reading the manga I thought Toji was the coolest mf alive. Definitely one of my favorite characters because he left one hell of an impact on me
2:57 While yes Toji (and by extension Maki) can feel out curses, Toji does actually see curses. It's actually the inverse, Jujutsu sorcerers see curses through their sixth sense due to their ability to control CE, but Toji and Maki's lack of curse energy enhances all of their senses to where they can see CE and curses as well as the experiencial world beyond that.

I’d assume the “cut everything sword” is a Muramasa made weapon since it is likely that in the world of JJK Muramasa was a special grade cursed item blacksmith.
Definitely sounds like muramasa, the design is taking a lot from the tetsaiga from Inuyasha though.

I find using Xiao to contrast against Toji's outfit in terms of price actually incredibly funny and fitting. Its an apt comparison, especially considering most Liu gear we see in Ruina is higher grade gear.
However what makes me laugh, and does prove a really good point is the fact that both are still designed to show off the fact those two are essentially walking death machines. Xiao's Liu Outfit is set up to defend against most forms of damage thanks to special construction of the outfit via Moonstones from a Corporation. Toshi has cheap, but visibly useful gear considering it means he basically is in an ideal combat outfit for this universe since there doesnt seem to be any specific clothes a sorcerer can wear that protects them.
In essence, both do the same thing but in different ways and thats really funny and really cool imo.

He actually can straight up see curses, just as a note. He says he can perceive them with all his senses, as well as the fact that Maki was able to hear vengeful spirit naoya.

YO, I waited for this video for sooo long. Best character in the series and exceptional even outside of it. Also I think his writing is outstanding, with relatively little screen time he becomes on of the most important characters in the series while being surprisingly extensively flashed out. Amazing work.

sometimes when i read manga, i feel like its hard for me to keep track of everything going on. that being said this was an amazing analysis of tojis character, the breakdown of his abilities, ideology and lifetime. now i can truly appreciate him instead of just seeing him as a strong bad guy.

Toji was a god damn legend among legends. A living curse on his evil clan, the person who walked into history and changed everything and the one man who out of everyone in the series showed that a heavenly restriction wasn't always a curse but an even greater tool to someone like himself. But I genuinely wonder what would've happened if Toji stayed alive after getting revived and how he'd react to seeing what happens to his son and what a fight between him and Sukuna would've been like. Tho im happy that we got to see what we did of his story and how it ended very nicely and on HIS terms

roland's theme and gone angels being mainstays in this video is a very nice touch, along with just shots of him (and that one shot of durandal). weirdly similar characters, despite very different personalities, have pretty common situations and even fighting styles

Well there's some Sun Wukong reference in a different battle. When Yuta used his hair to summon mini shikigami its the kinda same move that Wukong use in battle where he can summon clone copy of himself with his hairs.
Geto only started calling regulars people monkey, because Toji called himself that, after defeating him (chapter 73).

Holy shit.....given the most recent chapters of JJK....im genuinely shook that Gojo is wearing Toji's battle outfit. And with how it all played out....thats genuinely super tragic and a full circle story for not only Satoru Gojo, but in a weird way, megumi and Toji as well.

I guess the Zenin family is not only racist to weak cursed users but also sexist as they either tried to kill Maki once she crossed the threshold of power on Toji's level because they didn't think she was close to being that strong or tried to kill her before she got that strong. Yet the fact that the Zenin family pray & thanked a higher existence that Toji didn't just outright kill them straight up out of immense fear and terror.

Fushiguro isn’t Megumi’s mother’s name.
That’s the name of Tsumiki’s mother, which we figure since Kong has known Toji for like. A decade, and according to Gege, took care of Megumi when he was a baby.
Kong calls Toji “Zen’in” when he gives him the Star Plasma Vessel mission, and is corrected by Toji, who we assume changed his name then, during his second marriage.
At least, this is what many accept as fact.
Say what you want about this man, but any person that remotely even came close to taking out Gojo is a true badass in my eyes.

My own understanding : toji ending himself is the denial of material immortality and endorses verbal immortality. By this I mean that he denies what kenjaku and Sukuna are doing by reviving themselves.
I had always assumed that Toji's sword with the furry handle was a nod to Tessaiga from Inuyasha.
Slight factual error: Megumi's mom is not Mrs. Fushiguro and we don't know if he married her or if they were just lovers. She probably died shortly after childbirth. The surname of Fushiguro belongs to Tsumiki's mom, whom Toji had married before the start of the Hidden Inventory arc. When Megumi first meets Gojo, he even mentions about his dad and Tsumiki's mom disappearing. Also note that Akutami never calls Megumi's biological mother "Mrs. Fushiguro" or "Mama-guro" (as Toji is called "Papa-guro"), but instead Akutami calls her "Megu-mama" or "Megumi's mama." It's an easy mistake to make given how vague the manga is, but we don't actually know anything about Megumi's mom at all.
No it wasnt tsumiki's mom. Yes Fushiguro was his wife cuz he flat out said he took his wife's name. Tsumiki's mom was his fling after Fushiguro died.

Also the guy who hired Toji (Shiu kon I think his name was) knew Toji for a long time, in the fanbook they said he used to visit Toji to help him take care of Megumi. So he knows about Megumi and Megumi's mama.
But Shiu kon didn't know about Toji getting married and taking the name Fushiguro. Which means Toji still had the name Zenin when he was with Megumi's mom.
