I know I am starting to sound like a broken record with each video, but I would once again like to extend my gratitude to you for consistently providing us with such great videos. I ride motorcycles myself too and could not image what would go through my head riding on the roads that you are riding on in these videos, the scenery is magnificent.
Hi, thanks so much! We really appreciate your kind words and positive feedback 😊. Yeah these sunset rides are spectacular and at times we were lost for words! As you well know the sights we experience as motorcyclists are truly amazing 🤩
If you are in the UK you must make it happen (if possible). I have ridden/driven the roads of northern Scotland more than 20 times and I *never* get bored.
I'm so glad you're enjoying the beautiful surroundings scotland has to offer, and you have chosen to share your experiences with us. I have picked up on a few things, and it's in no way a criticism. The tongue is just Tongue, there's no fancy pronunciation. Ullapool is pronounced with a soft U. There is only one lake in Scotland, the rest are lochs or lochans. Yeah we really have had the best time exploring Scotland and it's our pleasure to share the experience here 😊. The address of the place that changed the tires is: Workspace 17, 4, 19 Kilsyth Rd, Kirkintilloch, Glasgow G66 1QE, United Kingdom - in case you need them 👍
Throughly enjoying this heading west series. People travel to far away places searching for greatest driving road, epic scenery and beautiful weather when they all can be found in Scotland.
By Clebrig and Ben Loyal and the bonnie Kyle of Tongue, The roads we oft times travelled in the days when we were young; There's magic and there's beauty in those hills when passing through, There's many a mile from Melness to the Waters of Kylesku. Thanks for showing Scotland in such a beautiful way. Your video’s are tremendous. It’s great that you got the better weather. We can have some horrendous weather sometimes. Keep up the vids guys , love them.
Hi. you're very welcome and thanks very much for your kind words. We can imagine the weather can get pretty bad up there as it's very exposed to the ocean. We were very happy the sun was out and there wasn't even any wind. Plenty more videos on the way, great to hear you are enjoying them 😎👍
Another beautifully filmed episode. I've run out of superlatives to describe the scenery. I've been to Scotland so many times, usually through work, but you've opened my eyes to a completely different land. I can't wait to go back and visit some of the places you've been to. Thank you 🙂
Hi Gary, yeah we used our quota of 'wows' too in the first day 😀 Yeah there is a magical land out there in Scotland so we hope next time you are there you will have the opportunity to maybe take a detour on the way home and take in some of the scenery for yourself 😊 Full Playlist so far: th-cam.com/play/PLl_mRzVHVQ0zUtFe7yIi6rO-2-k465D31.html&si=_BnoubsCy4Zvt-XR
Hi, thanks! That west coast of Scotland really just kept getting better and better, loved every mile of it 😊 The entire trip we had unbelievable weather! only 2 days of real rain the whole time
You missed out of one of the best parts of the NC500 at Durness, especially Balnakeil Bay. The Chocolate at the craft village is something else. In the good old days you had to go all the way around the loch to get to Tongue, which took forever.
In fairness Balnakeil Bay does look amazing but there are only so many hours in a day. Ah so the causeway to Tongue is relatively new, that must have been a welcomed shortcut for the locals! Thanks for watching and here's the rest of the tour: th-cam.com/play/PLl_mRzVHVQ0zUtFe7yIi6rO-2-k465D31.html&si=wwH-g3f-uqi3drnH
Thanks very much! Great to hear you are enjoying the videos. We were really impressed with the caves -maybe next time we ca do the tour. Thanks for watching Full Playlist: th-cam.com/video/HBi9llMO_zs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=8-d2qNCzwHrzQvTh
The route towards and beyond Drumbeg Viewpoint is also one we did last week. That’s the proper NC500 route rather than the alternative route near Loch Assynt which I suspect many folk opt for as it’s a quicker route to Kylesku Bridge. Their loss as the route you and I just did is the real deal. Looking forward to the next episode 👍
Nice videos guys! I really like you both participating in these videos. It's always interesting to hear a woman's perspective as a pillion. Keep them coming! Stay strong, ride on!
The vikings never left.. Orkney and Shetland are steeped in Norse history, the Western Isles were heavily involved in the history of the Vikings, and the area you are heading into, sutherland, is so called because it was the South Land of the Norse lands. Safe travels
Fabulous video guys. You definitely got fantastic weather for this episode. Scotland is so beautiful when the sun shines. Loved the look on Em’s face when walking down to Smoo cave lol. Keep safe. Irvine & Karen.
Hi Irvine & Karen, Weather has been glorious!! and has made for some rides that we will never forget 😊 Hehe yeah i think those steps were big and uneven...perhaps i should have taken the camera at that point but i was too excited racing off to the caves lol 😂
I live on the North coast and regularly ride my motorbike along the coast. I am delighted to hear how much you have enjoyed this part of the world. On a good day it is simply fantastic. I think Tongue is probably one of the most scenic places in the world.
Hi Donnie, wow that's a beautiful place to live for sure! and to have all these roads in your back yard is awesome! Yeah we must say it's been some of our favorite riding ever! The ride in to Tongue as the sun was going down was one of those never forget rides, truly spectacular! Thanks for watching. th-cam.com/play/PLl_mRzVHVQ0zUtFe7yIi6rO-2-k465D31.html&si=_BnoubsCy4Zvt-XR
The shop that put your tyres on is called Racing & Cruisin in Kirkintilloch Glasgow cracking guys, there's also Performance Motorcycle Services in Kirkintilloch who are very good
Yes that's right Racing & Cruisin and they also have MTS (motorcycle tires Scotland) which is their tire fitting business. As you say great guys and they helped us out big time when the Main dealers were not willing to help.
emily actually sounded emotional going past that lock ?? my wife was the same the 1st time we went past loch lomond lol just booked to go to ulla pool and Durness next April and I'd actually planned the exact same route so it's been a great video to watch thank-you
I was! 😊 In truth we both were, there's certain times on the bike when everything just feels right and this was one of those moments. That's a great time to visit, this was filmed in May and the weather was great, the roads were clear and we didn't get bitten by midges once 😀. We are sure you are going to have a great time, we can't wait to get back there again. Glad you have enjoyed the series and thanks for watching 👍
As far as I know, the Vikings settled across almost all of England, hence the (fictional) book "The Last Kingdom". Perhaps you need to pop into the JORVIK Viking Centre in York. Or maybe book a trip out to Shetlands and the Lerwick 'Up Helly Aa' for the last Tuesday in January. I hear that there is a lot of Viking history across Shetland, Orkney and the Hebrides. I believe, also, that Largs has a Viking festival.
Love your videos. Top quality with interesting narrations and first class editing. The pair of you are naturals. Well done. Did my motorcycling round these roads fifty years ago. Happy memories but oh I wish I had your bike then!
Hi Jim, thanks for watching and nice to hear that you enjoy the style of the videos. Yeah this bike is awesome and it's been great for us! Still you must a have had some really cool bikes 50 years ago -that was an exciting time for motorcycles!! 😎👍
Hi both, another brilliantly video, for me the north west coast spoils you with John-o groats and the east coast being slightly non-descript. Mind you being in my late sixties myself I was in the area you had been in this episode and I stopped at a little ramshackle timber built café, and talking to the charming elderly gentleman who ran it he was saying he was having treatment at a the hospital that he had to travel over 80 miles to, something I suppose you never consider when you are young and fit living so remotely. Really do enjoy your tours they are most entertaining.
Hi Stephen, yeah the West coast certainly builds and builds with the east calming down somewhat with it's own charms. 80 miles to a hospital, wow that is a long way to go and no something we would not have thought about. So glad to hear you are enjoying the tours and it's great to have you along with us. Nice to hear from you and catch you in the next one. Full playlist so far of this tour: th-cam.com/play/PLl_mRzVHVQ0zUtFe7yIi6rO-2-k465D31.html&si=_BnoubsCy4Zvt-XR
Would recommend learning the story of Viking influence on England and Scotland. Three consecutive Danish kings of England before 1042, massive settlement in the Danelaw, big impact on our language (second only to French) and many towns have the same Danelaw name that they did 1000 years ago! (York)
Very interesting, it's amazing the influence that the past had in shaping the language. After learning German we discovered so many similarities (and differences in the language). That's the reason English has one of the biggest vocabularies -as it's been formed from various languages.
I had the delight of escaping to Scotland at the end of April for my birthday weekend, stayed in Badcall Bay which was across the bay from Drumbeg - is it sad I recognised the skyline from Drumbeg? Although when I was there the very tops of each mountain had snow on them! Incredible roads and a pleasure to see that area once again as I only took memories of my trip not video. Thank you for sharing, loving your storytelling style, and can't wait to see the rest of your adventure as well as catchup on previous adventures too! :D
No not sad at all! How can one forget these views 😊 Must have looked impressive with the snow on them! This was shot in May so we were there not long after you. We as we are sure did had a fantastic time riding these roads and taking in the scenery -great to able to relive the moments and share them too. Thanks very much for your comment and we appreciate the encouraging words! Great videos. Glad you had great weather. You were definitely lucky this year !! TBH you have just scratched the surface. There are so many other great roads, routes and scenery. I’m lucky enough to have ridden most of the many times over…
Hi Barry, Yeah incredibly fortunate with the weather -this was filmed in May and of the 8500 km tour we really only had 2 days of rain ....the rest of the time it was sunny 😊 Yeah whilst planning this tour we soon realized there was so much more to see, we did however totally love the route we took. Thanks for watching and we appreciate your comment. 😎👍 Here's the rest of the Tour: th-cam.com/play/PLl_mRzVHVQ0zUtFe7yIi6rO-2-k465D31.html&si=_BnoubsCy4Zvt-XR
Did you know that the John Lennon music festival was held in tongue few years ago , John used to holiday there as a lad took yoko ono there with there kids. there is a cottage there where his aunt stayed and his original band the Quarrymen actually played in the cave by lowering their equipment down through the big opening in the top of the cave. Pity you missed the opportunity to go see the stuff about him.
Nope didn't know that 😊, that would have been an awesome concert. Thanks for watching! 😎👍 Full Playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLl_mRzVHVQ0zUtFe7yIi6rO-2-k465D31.html&si=F-j1FQo1EtKl8JFU
Yet another great video guys. Scotland has certainly been kind to you weather wise. Fantastic roads and scenery. Can't wait till the next instalment of your journey. ride safe.
Thanks very much! Scotland has been very kind to us with the weather, so thankful as we have been able to keep the cameras rolling most of the day 😊 Next one should be out Saturday as we reach the top 😎👍
Excellent video once again! I’ve lived in the central belt of Scotland all my life (not renowned for its scenery) and have visited many many highland and Island locations in my 60 years but I still haven’t even scratched the surface. I’ve never been this far north so thank you for allowing me to see the delights of that area, your videos are fantastic, I think I smiled the entire time!
Thanks ever so much for your kind words of encouragement! Yeah we realised that there is so much to see in Scotland including the islands! -we need to come back again and again 😊. It’s our pleasure to show the far North to you and your comment has made us smile too -so thanks for that and wee look forwards to hearing from you again soon 😊
Another wonderful episode, Scotland is like the land that time forgot! Will never tire of this series and although I've been on these roads myself many years ago it's real fun to see it through the eyes of others! Re Shadow's brakes at least you get a decent level of engine braking on the big GS, surely the best machine available for such a trip!
Thanks very much! It really is and i think that's why we love it so much. Scandinavia and Iceland has a similar feel and are also some of our favorite places. Really nice to hear you are enjoying the series 😊 Yeah that's very true! Roll off the throttle in a low gear and it's like throwing the Anchor down 😀 can't fault this bike it's provided us with so many memories.
Genuine query - when talking about how far you'll be riding that particular day, you always give a figure in kilometers rather than miles. Obviously all the road signs will be in miles (eg Dingwall 5 miles, Inverness 21 miles etc). And I guess a sat nav in the UK will give distances in miles, too. Is there a reason? Obviously a really good video from you again. Assynt is great!
Hi, no problem. We have lived in Switzerland for several years now and have been touring Europe a lot so we very much think in Km now. We had adjusted back to miles but then Ireland reset us 😄. The Sat Nav we have set to KM and it took me ages to remember to put the Speedo back to miles lol (had some people suggesting I was majorly speeding 😄) We tried to switch to Miles for the viewer but kept naturally diverting back to KM….. a bit like accidentally calling a Loch a Lake which apparently is unforgivable 🤣 Glad you enjoyed the video and we hope you are enjoying the series 😊 th-cam.com/play/PLl_mRzVHVQ0zUtFe7yIi6rO-2-k465D31.html&si=T2iIySwvbdNprlIi
Yet again a bril video. Informative, entertaining and great photography . The drone footage is the best I have seen on TH-cam. I am not sure if you have reached John o'Groats yet. If not try and visit Dunnet Head when in the area. It is the most northerly point of the UK.. Take care. Greeting from Glasgow.
Hi Douglas, thanks for your kid words of encouragement - it really means a lot to us! Again thanks for your praise of footage, it takes a lot of time but is well worth it 😊. Thanks for the tip - we do indeed visit Dunnet Head and happy that we did 😎👍 Full playlist: th-cam.com/video/HBi9llMO_zs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=8-d2qNCzwHrzQvTh
Another fantastic video guys with amazing weather and scenery, Sean you are a great biker and Emily a brilliant photographer. So far I've enjoyed your videos immensley and long may it continue. Good luck Sean and Emily and all the best. 🙏👍👍
Thanks Davie, we appreciate your support and kind words. Really nice to hear that you are enjoying the series and there’s plenty of older playlists on here too 👍🏻. Thanks again and we look forwards to hearing from you again 😎👍🏻
I’m lucky to live in Glasgow so do these roads on a 3 day trip at least twice a year ,Emily sounds quite emotional .. at a hill loch mountain and beach .. as am I .. you guys keep up the good work. Dunnet head is your most northerly point … and you missy a good hot chocolate at coco mountain before tongue for next time x
Hi Douglas, that's so cool that you live that close! Must be great to see good weather for the weekend and then just head off into the Highlands. Yeah we both got emotional at some of these places, sometimes everything just falls into place and the moment takes you away 😊, Yeah we will be heading to Dunnet point in the next episode (glad we didn't miss that one lol). Good tip for next time 😎👍 Thanks for your comment and we shall see in the next one. Playlist so far: th-cam.com/play/PLl_mRzVHVQ0zUtFe7yIi6rO-2-k465D31.html&si=_BnoubsCy4Zvt-XR
Another great upload. The scenery just got more impressive the farther north you travelled, and as Emily aptly commented..... "Oh whao"😊. Great, confident riding too Sean, particularly on those gravel-laiden single track roads. Looking forward to your John O'Groats installment. Until then, both of you take care.
Hi David, Thanks again! Great to hear you enjoyed it. Yeah the scenery just kept blowing us away where noises rather than words described it best 😀 Thanks very much! -really impressed with the tires gave me a lot of confidence (just need to get the brake pads changed lol) Looking forwards to sharing the John O'Groats episode as it's anther one of those milestone destinations 😊 Thanks again and catch you in the next one.
In Scotland a small Loch is called a Lochan. According to Wikipedia it's estimated Scotland has 31,460 freshwater Lochs and Lochans. Loch Ness has more freshwater than all the Lakes in England and Wales put together. According to Wikipedia the volume of fresh water in Loch Ness is nearly double that in all the Lakes in England and Wales combined.
Thanks guys for that, just got back from taking my wife to IKEA the place that stresses me out the most this video is just what I needed to calm my nerves thankyou 😀
Haha hope you didn’t get too lost in the maze and didn’t come home with too many zip lock bags and candles 😉. Hopefully we will get the next one up ready for after the furniture assembly 😆.
Loving the vids. For info only 1 lake in Scotland, ifs the lake of Mentieth near Stirling. A small loch is called a Lochan of which there are a gazillion. 👍
You make me laugh with your comments on the scenery for touristic activities. Great. And again awesome scenic route and beautiful drone shots. I can see why it's one of your favorite rides.
Another belter ! There are many Scots words in everyday use that were derived from old Norsk rather than Latin. You will get to Thurso next (translates as ‘the mouth of Thor’s river’) and the grid layout of the old town is based on Norse design. Oh - it’s “Tung” 😂. How do you get the drone footage with you both on the bike? Is Emily flying the drone or is it a fancy one with ‘target follow’? Which model are you using? Keep it up !!
Interesting about the Norsk words for sure! Haha yeah was expecting some other way to pronounce it but this one was easy enough lol 😂 Although it does have a follow me function that works well - the follow me functions tend to be a bit jerky as they always correct to keep the subject in the middle, plus at high altitudes they often lose the subject hence ......Emily pilots the drone from the pillion seat 😊 It's the DJI mini4 pro
Hi Paul, thank you so much for your Super thanks! We really appreciate your support and that's very kind of you. Really glad you enjoyed the video and we hope you get to explore Scotland for yourself one day. Thanks again 😊
Thanks so much!!! We really enjoyed making this one 😊 more on the way this weekend but for now have you seen our Norway Playlist? th-cam.com/play/PLl_mRzVHVQ0wBDli8y7IjlY2Q4MBPnA0u.html&si=wsA5ZZu13ds75XBh
Man O Man! Just 5 minutes in to the video and i am getting goose bumps.... Sure, the nice weather helps a lot with those views, but come on! ! I will fully agree with you on the Norway comparing...So vast and so alian like to drive through... Thnx again you two..Sweeeeeettt!!!
Goosebumps from a vlog that’s high praise indeed 😄 in fairness the scenery is spectacular! Yeah conditions were perfect but I reckon it’s amazing in any weather. There was a part of that route that was a total Norway dejavu moment. Thanks as always your encouraging comment!! We love your energy! 😎🙌🏻
And the people in the vans are going "bloody motorcyclists". You know it's the way of the world guys. 😂 Another top drawer video guys. Thank-you for sharing. p.s. got to end of vid. You're off to John O Groats. I was there once (work) in Feb. Gales, thunder storms and black skies. Couldn't wait to leave. Gave me 'land that time forgot' vibes. 😮
haha true that! Thanks very much! Yeah John O Groats next but with somewhat better weather than what you had 😉 Can imagine how atmospheric this place is in a storm!! 😲
Haha I do t know how Emily manages to hang in the back whilst filming or flying the drone 😆 try not to fall of the couch 😉 Thanks very much! Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks Stephen! Great to hear you are enjoying them 😎👍 Full playlist so far of this tour: th-cam.com/play/PLl_mRzVHVQ0zUtFe7yIi6rO-2-k465D31.html&si=_BnoubsCy4Zvt-XR
Hey Sean and Emily, I absolutely love your videos! My husband and I are super excited to one day make it over to Europe and be able to experience some of these places that you showcase! So I have a question - we also record our travels and ride around 2up on a bike, and it's been difficult for us to find a good setup to record the audio of us talking in our helmets. But your audio of the both of you sounds fantastic! I'm curious, what do you use, what is your secret? Thanks so much! - Marisa
Thanks so much for the kind words, Marisa! Riding 2up and capturing audio can definitely be tricky. We’ve found that experimenting with different setups and gear is key, and what works for us may not work for everyone. We both have microphones in our helmets that link with the camera from DJI or Rode. Glad to hear our audio sounds good to you though! Best of luck with your travels and setup! Safe riding! 😊
We are doing the NC500 next May. Can you offer any advice as to what mileage is achievable on the narrower roads in a day? Just so we can book accommodation. Love the vids
Hi Nigel, May seems to be a good month to tour 👍🏻 (this was filmed in May) I would say plan for around 150 - 200 miles per day but this was with good weather, although stopping to fly the drone takes time too 😄. If you follow the link in the pinned comment you will see the route of the day (some days are multiple episodes) with the mileage of the day (will probably be in KM). Hope that helps 😎👍🏻
@SeanandEmily yeah, I guy used to come up from England for his summer holidays & he built it over a couple of years, he stopped visiting in the early 1960's.
DurNess! But maybe by the time you have navigated the numerous campervans on single track roads it feels like Duress! I have driven those roads before the NC500 was a thing and there was no duress involved. Sadly things have changed😢
Your video quality is superb. I wonder Sean, have you ever felt numb on your hand while handling the throttle gas? Would love to know how you manage that condition. Thank you, it would be a good advice for noob rider like me.
Hi, welcome to the channel and we are happy to hear you are enjoying the videos. if your hands are going numb there's a good chance you are gripping the handlebars too tight, try relaxing your grip a bit. Perhaps imagine the handlebars are super hot and you are still trying to hold them but not too much (a good exercise if you have heated grips is to put them on max with thin gloves on ). Other things to try are foam grip covers to reduce vibration and make the grip a bit more spongey. Cruise control for long motorway slogs is great too but that's a luxury I've only recently had 😉
you are wrong about the vikings. they settles the bit of Scotland youre on in this vid. they settled Orkney Shetland, Caithness and much of the west coast of Scotland. they settled the east too. names like Lossiemouth and Kinloss are from the old norse for salmon "lox". at Inchnadamph there is the river Traligill which is from the norse for valley of the trolls. any place ending "-dale" was settled by vikings, a suffix you will be familiar with from Yorkshire (yorvik). anyway youre in my part of the world in this vid. i hope you were treated well and had a good time
Thanks for the info, as everything is filmed live and off the cuff it’s impossible to know what we are going to talk about so there’s gna be a few mistakes 😊. Thanks for clarifying and we hope you enjoyed the video. Yeah we have a great time and everyone we met was very friendly. Hope you enjoy the rest of the playlist 👍🏻 th-cam.com/play/PLl_mRzVHVQ0zUtFe7yIi6rO-2-k465D31.html&si=NmF-kuFPbRsYkCyE
Haha never thought about that. Yes of course Switzerland is truly spectacular but nothing beats discovering new places l, especially with such raw and open landscapes 😊. We will be back raving about Switzerland again before long 😉
No they are not, we did have the additional sensor on the fork but it fell off somewhere. For more information see the first video of this playlist where we talk about the vests in more detail: th-cam.com/video/HBi9llMO_zs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=8-d2qNCzwHrzQvTh
Hi Sean and Emily, I’m sure you’ve been asked this 10,000 times already, but are those fantastic routes also available as GPX files? If that's the case, could you please explain to me how to get there? I can't seem to find it. Thanks a lot in advance!
Pinned as the first comment in every episode is the link to the calimoto Route, there's also a link to their website which allows you to try it for 30 days or purchase it discounted with the codes. With the full version you can download any route as a GPX file (also with the free trial so effectively you could wait until the series is over and download everything for free) Hope that works 😎👍
Yep starting to lol These were recorded in May so can't go back In time and change that, plus I think it's more important for these reactions to be natural and not reshot every time we slip up.
Thank you so much for sharing your UK 🇬🇧 and Ireland 🇮🇪 trip with us. You have done an incredible job in the camera drone also Em too. Thank you 🙏 5 stars 🌟 rating from me. I will definitely keep an eye out for more of your videos.. kind regards Dan from the the Uk 🇬🇧
Hi Dan, thanks for watching the Heading West Series. We are really happy for your kind words of encouragement and must say we have had a great time exploring all the Gems of teh UK and Ireland. Absolutely!! It's second to none! 😎👍
The Lake of Menteith is the only lake in Scotland. They are Lochs and the wee ones are called Lochans. Great trip, keep it shiny side up...
Thanks, glad you are enjoying the playlist 😎👍

2 thumbs up for the outstanding Scottish winding scenic motorcycle road"

Throughly enjoying this heading west series. People travel to far away places searching for greatest driving road, epic scenery and beautiful weather when they all can be found in Scotland.
Glad you are enjoying it Darren! Yeah it's funny really that sometimes some of the best places are right on your doorstep 😊

Beautiful scenery outstanding video. Like it
Thanks Paul! Yeah the Scenery was fantastic, every turn a new view. Glad to hear you enjoyed it

Plenty more videos on the way, great to hear you are enjoying them 😎👍
Fantastic. You caught that so perfectly.
Thanks Paul!! Glad you liked it 😎👍
I absolutely love the north of Scotland. My favourite road is the branch off to (and including) Reiff. Stunning, other worldly....
Yeah it's spectacular isn't it 😊 Thanks for the tip, maybe a place for next time, looks nice and secluded there - perfect!
Brilliant........
Loving your motorbike adventures in Scotland..............
Thanks very much! This has been one of our favourite tours too 😎👍
Another beautifully filmed episode. I've run out of superlatives to describe the scenery. I've been to Scotland so many times, usually through work, but you've opened my eyes to a completely different land. I can't wait to go back and visit some of the places you've been to. Thank you 🙂
Hi Gary, yeah we used our quota of 'wows' too in the first day 😀 Yeah there is a magical land out there in Scotland so we hope next time you are there you will have the opportunity to maybe take a detour on the way home and take in some of the scenery for yourself 😊

Its getting better and better, thanks guys. Absolutely amazing views. And the weather was on your side.
Thanks for watching and here's the rest of the tour:

I remember being in Tongue and filling up with a diy hand operated petrol pump, last century.
They should bring them back for the retro feel 😎
Another cracking film . I was on that same road last year , and went down into Smoo Cave . And stayed in Tongue 😀. Thanks for the memories.
Thanks very much! Great to hear you are enjoying the videos. We were really impressed with the caves -maybe next time we ca do the tour. Thanks for watching

The road at the start of the video has one of my favourite campsites on it clachtoll beach campsite. Also a good fish and chip van stops by.
Looks like a great place to camp, right near the sea! 😎👍
@@SeanandEmily It is they are extremely friendly and offer free paddle boards and kayaks etc. The Beaches are perfect.
Even better! 😎👍🏻
Glad to hear we took the good route 😎👍 Yeah it would be such a shame to miss this one. Sounds like you had an awesome trip too 😊
@@SeanandEmily Yes we did. 👍
Nice videos guys! I really like you both participating in these videos. It's always interesting to hear a woman's perspective as a pillion. Keep them coming! Stay strong, ride on!
Thanks George, Yeah it's a team effort for sure. Always nice to talk about the places with see with each other. Plenty more videos on the way 😎👍
The vikings never left.. Orkney and Shetland are steeped in Norse history, the Western Isles were heavily involved in the history of the Vikings, and the area you are heading into, sutherland, is so called because it was the South Land of the Norse lands. Safe travels
Tongue is a Norse word, it means... tongue!
Thanks for the info 😎👍

Superb , amazing ride Scotland is just stunning, wish i could be there enjoy.
Hi William, yeah something very special about riding through Scotland! 😎👍
emily actually sounded emotional going past that lock ?? my wife was the same the 1st time we went past loch lomond lol
just booked to go to ulla pool and Durness next April and I'd actually planned the exact same route so it's been a great video to watch
thank-you
Certainly is one of the most beautiful countries on earth. 👍
Agreed! It really is 😎👍🏻
As far as I know, the Vikings settled across almost all of England, hence the (fictional) book "The Last Kingdom".
Yeah a fascinating history for sure and amazing the way it has shaped history! 👍

Cheers Craig, absolutely breath taking and a very memorable ride! Yeah so fortunate with the weather -made for a lot of footage 😊
John o groats isn’t the most northerly point on mainland Scotland it is Dunnet Head. Go to the light house and there is a wee cafe on the road in.
Not to worry we go to both 😉
The roads are absolutely fantastic! Thanks for the discovery and sharing in video 🙏🙏
Yeah the roads were fantastic! So much fun with great views. Thanks for watching 😎👍🏻
I stayed at the Ben Loyal hotel 3 years ago and was really nice and a great view of Ben Loyal.
Glad you enjoyed your stay 😊 A beautiful area to relax after a day on the road 😎👍🏻
Great videos. Glad you had great weather. You were definitely lucky this year !! TBH you have just scratched the surface. There are so many other great roads, routes and scenery. I’m lucky enough to have ridden most of the many times over…
Hi Barry, Yeah incredibly fortunate with the weather -this was filmed in May and of the 8500 km tour we really only had 2 days of rain ....the rest of the time it was sunny 😊

A month later and all those brown hills would be clothed in green. Scotland’s Summer is considerably shorter than England’s but it’s fierce and fast.
Wow that must be glorious to see! 😊
Absolutely beautiful but I still can’t get over the tiny narrow roads it’s crazy be safe
Hi Jeff, yeah they are pretty small these roads but at the same time normal here-it's like a mad dash to the next passing point 😂 Thanks for watching
I love that route
Yeah it's a great ride isn't it 😎👍
Excellent video once again!
Really nice to hear you are enjoying the series 😊
Yeah that's very true! Roll off the throttle in a low gear and it's like throwing the Anchor down 😀 can't fault this bike it's provided us with so many memories.
Thank you both, that was fantastic....don't know how you do it.
👍👍
Thanks John! Great you liked it 😎👍🏻
Teamwork every time 😊
Genuine query - when talking about how far you'll be riding that particular day, you always give a figure in kilometers rather than miles.
The Sat Nav we have set to KM and it took me ages to remember to put the Speedo back to miles lol (had some people suggesting I was majorly speeding 😄)
We tried to switch to Miles for the viewer but kept naturally diverting back to KM….. a bit like accidentally calling a Loch a Lake which apparently is unforgivable 🤣
Glad you enjoyed the video and we hope you are enjoying the series 😊

first class footage yet again your videos are awesome especially your drone footage..what drone do you use ?
Thanks very much, great to hear you enjoyed it. Using the DJI mini4 pro 😎👍
Thanks for the tip - we do indeed visit Dunnet Head and happy that we did 😎👍

Yeah we both got emotional at some of these places, sometimes everything just falls into place and the moment takes you away 😊,

Yeah the scenery just kept blowing us away where noises rather than words described it best 😀
Thanks very much! -really impressed with the tires gave me a lot of confidence (just need to get the brake pads changed lol) Looking forwards to sharing the John O'Groats episode as it's anther one of those milestone destinations 😊
Thanks again and catch you in the next one.
Beautiful thanks for sharing 🙏🙏

In Scotland a small Loch is called a Lochan.
According to Wikipedia it's estimated Scotland has 31,460 freshwater Lochs and Lochans.
Loch Ness has more freshwater than all the Lakes in England and Wales put together. According to Wikipedia the volume of fresh water in Loch Ness is nearly double that in all the Lakes in England and Wales combined.
wow that's a lot of water!! 😮Thanks
Yeah difficult to change a lifetime of saying lake in just a few days. Thanks for the info ...a lochan we had never heard of before 😊👍
You make me laugh with your comments on the scenery for touristic activities. Great. And again awesome scenic route and beautiful drone shots. I can see why it's one of your favorite rides.
Hi Ruud, 😄 glad you enjoyed it. Yeah for sure one of our top rides ever -truly spectacular 😊
The Mountain you were passing near Drumbeg is Quinag (pronounced gaelic coonyag) Assynt is one of the lovliest parishes in the highlands.
Hi thanks for the information. One of our favorite areas too 😎👍
Another belter !
Haha yeah was expecting some other way to pronounce it but this one was easy enough lol 😂
Although it does have a follow me function that works well - the follow me functions tend to be a bit jerky as they always correct to keep the subject in the middle, plus at high altitudes they often lose the subject hence ......Emily pilots the drone from the pillion seat 😊 It's the DJI mini4 pro
Thank you for these videos. I hope to follow your footsteps in Scotland someday. Beautiful.
Hi Paul, thank you so much for your Super thanks! We really appreciate your support and that's very kind of you. Really glad you enjoyed the video and we hope you get to explore Scotland for yourself one day. Thanks again 😊

Goosebumps from a vlog that’s high praise indeed 😄 in fairness the scenery is spectacular! Yeah conditions were perfect but I reckon it’s amazing in any weather.
There was a part of that route that was a total Norway dejavu moment.

And the people in the vans are going "bloody motorcyclists". You know it's the way of the world guys. 😂
Another top drawer video guys.
I keep getting the feeling that I'm going to fall off the pillion seat on those corners! Aganin great filming and chatter.
Haha I do t know how Emily manages to hang in the back whilst filming or flying the drone 😆 try not to fall of the couch 😉
Thanks very much! Glad you enjoyed it
Amazing place, I wonder what those camper vans do if 2 of them meet head on on of those narrow roads with no nearby passing places?

@17: 00 minutes.. You could imagin the Orks storming down those hills and rocks...#movielandscape😃😃
Absolutely! Was half expecting to see the two towers in the background 😄
Another great one! You get the best footage. Get in the water. When in Scotland do as the Scot’s do. Cold water dip.😂 they are lochans.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it 😎👍 haha hard pass that water is too cold 😂 -Billy Connolly did a good childhood story sketch about swimming in the sea. 😂
Its a pity you couldn't stop at Achmelvich on the B869 road, its got the smallest castle in Europe.
looks a great place to visit, wasn't that castle built in the 50's?
@SeanandEmily yeah, I guy used to come up from England for his summer holidays & he built it over a couple of years, he stopped visiting in the early 1960's.
If I remember correctly, during World War 2 they assembled the Arctic convoys in Loch Eriboll.
Ahh okay, that makes sense as there are some old world war 2 battery placements on the coastline -perhaps that was to protect them as they departed.
When even the local sheep enjoy the view!? It must be good!
Apparently they had their own ewe tube channel 🤣
DurNess! But maybe by the time you have navigated the numerous campervans on single track roads it feels like Duress! I have driven those roads before the NC500 was a thing and there was no duress involved. Sadly things have changed😢
Glad to hear you enjoyed the video and appreciate the effort that goes into making them
Are you sitting in a pub drinking beer and just uploading videos from your trip in Norway? 😂 Stunning roads…just the way we want😊
Haha yeah, thought it would be easier just to reedit the Heading North Tour and pass it off as Scotland 😂
@@SeanandEmily 😂😂
29:42. Dont worry, Emily. Tongue is a bit of a mouthful.....baboom. tshhh.😜
🤣
You twa are, pure dead brilliant
Thanks Jimbo! 😎👍

Really enjoy your channel, but I have a question. Does your speedometer show kilometers per hour or miles per hour? Thank you.
Thanks, i believe it was in KM per hour for the first few episodes in Scotland (hadn't changed it from Ireland)
you are wrong about the vikings. they settles the bit of Scotland youre on in this vid. they settled Orkney Shetland, Caithness and much of the west coast of Scotland. they settled the east too. names like Lossiemouth and Kinloss are from the old norse for salmon "lox". at Inchnadamph there is the river Traligill which is from the norse for valley of the trolls. any place ending "-dale" was settled by vikings, a suffix you will be familiar with from Yorkshire (yorvik).
anyway youre in my part of the world in this vid. i hope you were treated well and had a good time
oh and Laxford which you hadnt passed yet. norse for salmon ford
Hope you enjoy the rest of the playlist 👍🏻

The irony I keep smiling at is that you two live in Switzerland! And yet you still rave about Scotland!!!
Haha never thought about that. Yes of course Switzerland is truly spectacular but nothing beats discovering new places l, especially with such raw and open landscapes 😊. We will be back raving about Switzerland again before long 😉
The castle you referred to is eilean donan pronounced eelan donan. Meaning the island of donnan
Guessing that’s where the world Island originated from -sounds similar now you mention it

With the full version you can download any route as a GPX file (also with the free trial so effectively you could wait until the series is over and download everything for free)
Hope that works 😎👍
@@SeanandEmily Found it! GREAT!!
Thanks!
Your welcome, if you want them for the Norway and Corsica playlists the link is in the description on those 😎👍
I know I sound like a broken record but in Scotland its a Loch not a lake 🏴
Yep starting to lol These were recorded in May so can't go back In time and change that, plus I think it's more important for these reactions to be natural and not reshot every time we slip up.

@@SeanandEmily English /Scottish language isn’t very clever 😂😂😂. Great videos👍
Lochans.🙂
Is that near where we got the ferry to? 🤔
@@SeanandEmily That's the small "lakes/ponds" you see.....we call them lochans.
That we didn’t know? -I think there needs to be an information leaflet handed out at the border 😉
@@SeanandEmily 😂
@@SeanandEmily Scottish version of the Lake District 'Tarns', formed after the glacier withdrew in the last ice age.
I'll take the Defender over the Land Cruiser!
Okay you take the defender and we will take the the land cruiser -deal? 😉
That road you are on is called The Wee Mad Road. On your way back down take the A93 old military road, it's a belter 👌
Thanks for the information and tips, can't remember which way we come back down now but hopefully it was that route 😎👍
