I sold Fiats for 12 years. I owned a condominium right on a major road and when a 124 twin cam would go by on a night I had my bedroom window open, the magical sound would wake me up.
Ahh, that sound and all is forgiven :-) I bought a 1971 BC many years ago. Bright yellow. I loved that car, but was, unfortunately, a poorly maintained example and a time when I did not have the money to maintain it. In the end, a drunk driver wiped it out while it was parked in the street. But just watching your video I am smiling from ear to ear.
I am sorry to hear that, there arent many coupes left. Its a special, make happy car. It took me 2 years to get it in shape and these kind of videos helped me to keep my chin up. Happy to see it made your day.
Your experience just about mirrors mine. I bought an AC like the one in the video as my first car in Sydney, Australia in the 90s. I also maintained it on a shoestring student budget, bodging over the rust and dropping the gearbox on my parents’ driveway…good times. Eventually someone crashed into mine too and I had to sell her for parts. The exhaust note and horn sound really take me back. I am very impressed that people are still keeping these little gems going so many years later.
I owned a 1971 Fiat 124 Sport Spider, the convertible version of this. These are very pretty cars and the engine is wonderful. The exhaust note is exceptionally nice. Great video!
Hi, I am glad you liked it. I like the Spider version also, good thing is that the mechanics are identical. The nice sound is the intake - from the double carbs, thats what you hear as a driver :) Cheers
Thank you very much for this review. It brought all the memories back to this car that I drove when I was younger. Especially your sound recording of the engine were spot on!
Always liked the 124 coupe....your early one looks and sounds great.Good advice about buying and owning..Notice how much glass area in this type of car, fantastic visibility. 😎.
Beautiful restoration - well done on a great job. My uncle had one back in 1974 and it amazed me as an 11 year old with its amazing exhaust note and acceleration. Gutted when someone stole it after 6 months but as a left hand drive in the UK it probably was shipped back to Europe.
Always lusted for a 124 Sc but have not come across one I could consider. Family had Fiat cars and in my youth I had a 131 Racing, stupidly enough sold in favour for a old Jaguar that took 2 yrs to restore...Now got -84 Xj6. Thank you for uploading and happy driving.Cheers from Finland
I had a 1968 AC (in blue) and fitted a ANSA exhaust which was like an amplifier for the sound! Was a rust bucket here in Canada but I miss it like any first love.
its a happy car, i enjoy it greatly. Not mega expensive, so you are not afraid to drive it, but yet still super fun and easy to maintain. Its not a winter car though, thats for sure.
The first generation were the most elegant and beautiful of the 124 Sort Coupes. My dream would be to upgrade the power train with the turbocharged and fuel injected 2 liter from a 1981 model year 124 Spider.
I upgraded to 1800 with higher CR, hotter cams and double 40 idfs. Thats a lot of fun. Turbos or fuel injections are another pain when repairing. So for me its singing carbs. Once jetted correctly they are a gem.
I was the 124th thumbs up :) Be sure and nobody else like this video :) I have a 1970 124 Series 2 Coupe, my favorite of the several cars I own. Also does your Marelli clock work? Mine is always breaking and sadly someone figured out they use them in 1960s and 1970s Ferraris some years back, and instead of buying them for $50 now they charge $200 or $300 for them. Ridiculous.
That´s great, I have the same on my Alfa. Though it would be good to at least have socks on your trumpets, mine are from PiperCross. All in all great car 😁
Very pretty and highly underrated, it sounds lovely. A friend had one about 40 years ago and drove it everywhere sideways. A perfect choice for a classic now. Enjoy😊!
"Stupid cyclist" 😂 BTW: you don't need to know how to work on it.. you can always learn from multiple sources.. community, friends, etc... And that's for me actually one of the best things around this cars.. I call it "LEGO for adults".. Great video
Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime :-(

Thats one of the things that makes it a nice place to be - the ammount of visibillity, that cannot be matched by the new cars. Good point.

What a sad story, these are just great little happy cars. Love them
Beautiful car and good advice!

i wouldnt change my coupe for a jag, the fiat is simple. beautiful, with updated engine super fun drive and not extremely expensive. Its a happy car
I totally agree. Light cars are so much fun! Will however swap auto box for a original 5-speed and that with updated suspension should be some fun.
Ahoj.
Sounds mega! Does it have Alquati cams?
Cheers.
Yes Alquati 80/40 cams with 10,35 mm lift. Makes all the difference. Thanks

Zdravim, ten zvuk je original? Resp. ako ste ho upravovali? A jazdne vlastnosti .. ste spokojny? Dik za reakciu 👍

I have one in my CC, which is ready for a build. In the AC the clock wasnt there - just 3 guages.
Great car!
Love the throaty exhaust note! Do you have trumpets on?
yes i have double webers with air horns on and no filter so the sound is gorgeous.
That´s great, I have the same on my Alfa.

All in all great car 😁

Stupid cyclist in front of me? That person has the right to be there, as much as you do.
Like hell they do!! They think they do and no doubt you're one of them!!
they don't pay any road tax and think they own the road!!!
