    Hey man, I just want to thank you for all your videos. A while ago I bought a pair of Nike Metcon 4 after watching your review of them, and now I'm going to buy a pair of these Blazer thanks to your superb in-depth review. I will always take a look of your videos before buying any training shoe. Tvm for all and keep your awesome work!💪

    Random FYI. I wear size 11 in Air Force 1's. Heard the Blazers are narrow, so i bought 1/2 size up. And glad i did, because they fit good. I can feel that if i got my normal size 11, my pinky toe would be cramped. So the 11 1/2 size i bought i can feel theres exactly a index finger thickness room at the big toe. So i can tell that when i walk for long time my feet will swell and fit perfectly once feet swell up. So i recommend getting 1/2 size up IF you have standard or slightly wide feet. Just to be safe then sorry. If you have narrow or slightly narrow feet then you can get your normal regular size. By the way, this is the first time i bought this model shoe. And just so happy that i read on Nike sight that people said get 1/2 size up if your wide or slightly wide. But if possible, if you can go to a store to try them on, then that would be actually the #1 best advice to follow. Then you can be 100% sure what size u need. I personally never go to stores anymore for the past 3 years, so i only buy shoes online only and never can try them on unless i buy them online. So for me it can be trail and error sometimes to find the right size. But for the most part im always a size 11. But every once in awhile a shoe is built different where i will have to get either1/2 size up or half a size down from size 11. So the smallest size shoe i buy sometimes is 10.5 and biggest size i buy is 11.5. So hope this can help someone. But bottomline regardless if you buy in physical store or online only like me. Your going to have to try them on to make sure what size to get.
    PS: Another tip, if you only buy online only like me and never can try on before buying. If possible for you to do, i would buy two pairs of shoes. One in your normal size and one in either 1/2 size up or 1/2 size down depending on what is the most popular view you read from comments in size. Then you will have better chance to get the right size and then return the wrong size. And the main sizing issues is if people say a shoe runs "narrow". Toe length concerns are not as important as hearing if a shoe runs "narrow". Meaning if lets say a reviewer says the shoe runs long at the toes and also says its "narrow" or "slightly narrow", then you need to buy based on the "narrow" comment or view over the toe length view. Now if a majority of reviewers say a show runs long without commenting on if its narrow, then and only then u showed then get 1/2 down if they recommend it . But only if no other views say anything about it also being narrow. Narrow supersedes long toe length, if reviewers say it has both issues. ✌️
    PSS: Also, i heard a lot of youtube reviewers say they hate how it cuts into there heel at the back and they get blisters even. And i know why, because the show runs NARROW overall in all areas, that if you get your normal size it will hug your ankle or heel to close since it runs narrow everywhere, and thats why it runs heel and gets blisters. So again, if u go up 1/2 even if your lets say not a wide foot, going up 1/2 your heel or ankle wont get blisters. Because my 1/2 up 11.5 i bought, i feel no heel rub or ankle issues at all. there plenty of room like a normal shoe feels in the ankle and heel. ✌️

    • @thatfitfriend
      @thatfitfriend  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I say they run narrow and the boot is rigid. I also say pass on em for wider feet. Sizing is multifactorial and I don’t watch other content creators to avoid building a bias towards a shoe FYI. This is why I love when viewers gather multiple data points and suggest others to do so.
      Thank you for sharing this context, though 🤝 I’m sure someone will find it useful!

    Great review Jake! I got a pair of these a few years ago but they felt really narrow for me. Weirdly enough, the low versions fit me fine. A good alternative to these that are a bit wider are the Nike SB Blazer Mid. I haven’t used them for training yet, but I should given this review.

    • @thatfitfriend
      @thatfitfriend  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, it would be cool if they midfoot and toe box were a wider. The thicker upper doesn’t help on this front either.

    Remember ya'll, there are also Blazer mids you can grab which are different materials and not so dominated by the stiff cheap synthetic. Those I've found are actually the best ones, with mostly nubuck or suede. The give is like night and day.

    I really appreciate the video! I think there is something to be said about lifting in flat shoes that are not considered training shoes. I have a pair of adidas powerlift and a vivobarefoot knit, but lately I bought a pair of adidas superstars to wear for work. I was curious how the superstars would perform on a light training day so I tried them, and they did surprisingly well, even though they have a lot of cushion compared to my other training shoes. For me it feels like the midsole compresses down and then gets stable like a molt around my foot. They even felt stable under 200kg deadlift for a triple which is heavy for me. I like them as a addition to my vivobarefoot shoes for lighter days. The powerlift only helps me with overhead press, so I rarely use them. For me a casual everyday sneaker beats a training shoe from the same company, but I acknowledge that it is only true for me, and you don't know what works for you unless you have tried it.
    Sorry for the long rant.

    • @thatfitfriend
      @thatfitfriend  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No apologies necessary. I enjoy getting a glimpse into your experiences/thought process. There are so many shoes on the market and there are so many factors that can influence how I internalize a shoe during training and how you do. For example, different anatomies/needs (speaking to flat vs higher heel-to-toe drops), lifting styles, preferences, etc. can all influence the shoes we prefer.
      I'm stoked that you're trial and erroring so many models - that's the best approach, IMO. This way you can synthesize which models work best for the context of your training demands!

    I'm a vintage guy for sure, so am intrigued by these. But, really don't like those funky "grey overlays", perhaps they perform some function but they detract from the overall look big time. I love the original tongue design, but wish Nike would have produced these timeless sneaks exactly the same way they did "back in the day". These are like the adidas promodel, they really need to be unlaced a few rows to avoid damaging them. Like you say, they look great for any occasion

    Obviously the Blazers are a lot cheaper as Romaleos can be 200$+
    Would you say spending a lot more money on a pair of Romaleos is worth it especially in regards to performing the heavy barbell exercises?

      Eh, it depends, tbh! Both will have super diff feels in the gym because of the their drops. They are neutral and durable. The durability is solid. Unless you need a responsive shoe for training that requires running these are a good choice for lifters.

      While I think they'd be fine comfort-wise once they're broken in - they can run a little warm which could be an issue for travel in warmer contexts.

      LOL, I mean we're all pretty much doing everything out of influence. Nothing is truly original and never has been, we can think we are...but alas.

  • @swolemonster5685
    @swolemonster5685 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    These are so played out, the fitness kids killed this shoe…..time to move on to something else. Please be original it’s corny how you all do the same exact thing as each other and then walk around the gym like you’re the coolest person in the gym lol how do you all see it that way????

    • @thatfitfriend

      LOL. Strong take here - tell us how you really feel 😂 Tbh, this was my thought process, too, due to the TikTok trend with these - but, then again, who really cares?
      Once I stepped outside of my own bias, it’s like there are enough issues in the world than to care what other people are wearing at the gym especially when it doesn’t negatively impact what I’m doing.

      @@swolemonster5685 That I did. They're popular. This is how TH-cam and social media work, lol. Have to play the game a little bit as much as I hate to play.
      Also, my thoughts here are that people are going to invest in these shoes regardless of how much some may think they're played out - if they're going to invest, they might as well watch a video that details their performance and applies some context to where they'll work best.
      If I'm being honest, I made this video initially because I saw some TikTok influencer create a list of why these shoes were good in the gym and one of the reasons was they were "flat" which is ironic because this model has a 5mm heel-to-toe drop. That statement alone lacks so much context, LOL, but I'll save my cynical rant there.
      That being said, yeah, I built this video because I know people are going to look into this model and if they're going to spend their money they might as well have a video that details a more contextual "why" behind their popularity/use.
