Please everyone, cherish your loved ones while they’re still here, and while you still can. Jasmine, this time you spent with grandparents is such a beautiful time that you’ll look back on and be deeply comforted and touched by. I’m so happy for you and your grandparents to have had this time together. Wish I could see mine again…
My grandfather was an artist, too. I never got to spend much time with him before he died. This video makes me both sad and incredibly happy to get to witness you enjoying eachothers company.
It just so happened that I bumped into your Grandpa's exhibition in Beijing last weekend, not knowing he was your grandpa, and loved it. Given that I also haven't been back in China in three years, this unexpected connection felt very warm.
I really think it's nice that you were able to grow up learning about your language and culture despite living in the US and that you're able to communicate with your grandparents as they grow older and older. Stuff like this always makes me smile ear to ear haha
It's because NYC and much of America has a severe level of social decay and chaos as well as a culture rooted in violence and manipulation. In NYC when I head out, I always feel like I gotta be ready for a fight, when I was in Asia, I could relax, I actually smiled and had genuine conversations with people without wondering when they are going to insult me to assert some type of dominance over me when they thought my defenses were down. I feel like I gotta be ready to insult anyone and everyone otherwise I be found lacking when they do. Not to mention being Asian, injustice is the norm where if someone attacks one of us, society and the law treats it as whatever, when you fight back, they suddenly want to claim you were the attacker and it wants to give you the harshest punishment they can feasibly give you or threaten to retaliate against other people like you who aren't involved in your fight. Being in Asia literally healed my soul, then I had to go back to the rot. After a while all the fancy stores and eateries aren't going to be enough to blind you from these realities. Also tencent 3 body is better.
I work in midtown Manhattan and after the Venezuelan immigrants got here, it got even worse. I was already wary of the NYC locals, now the new illegals sleep on the street and tries to pick a fight when you walk between them and their scooters. They shout and laugh at you in their language and you have no idea what they are saying.
it's so inspiring to see your grandparents creatively express themselves in an artistic way. I feel like (for what I witnessed in my life), creative expression is usually dropped after a certain age. So this was just beautiful and inspiring to see. Loved the entire video.
For the past year, I've been working towards my dream of moving over to China for a few months to live with my grandma, who moved over when I was younger (to NZ) to help raise me. This video made me so emotional and reaffirmed this dream that I have. Thank you.
jasmine😭these little moments you collected brought me to tears...thank you for being a genuine, thoughtful, and all in all lovely human on and off screen, and for so authentically, and artfully sharing your life with us. so glad to get to call you friend. hope we'll catch each other again soon somewhere in the world 🫶
Thank you for a beautiful video. It's kind of open my eyes to a more (modern?) artsy cultural rich China. And you really drive the point of cherishing your elders while they're still around. Thank you.
I watched the video, it was wonderful! I wanted to thank you for sharing these beautiful moments with your grandfather and showcasing his wood carving skill with us. I wish you and your family health and happiness always. Your grandfather's talent is truly amazing. Keep up the great work . ❤❤❤
This vlog made me so emotional. My grandparents were from mainland china too, I miss them so much. Thanks for sharing the beauty of you and your grandparents and china ❤️
these visiting grandparents vlogs always make me tear up, i wish i had been able to spend time with mine before they passed :( i feel like theres always something missing from my life without them, my advice to everyone is to please cherish your grandparents while you still can
now i see more and more where you get your gift from your grandpa :) this was such a beautiful peaceful vlog.i would love to visit beijing china someday on my bucket list, such a gorgeous place. you definetly seem more at peace there even your space there and grandpas studio is picture perfect.such a wholesome vlog :D really enjoyed it.
Oh this was so healing to watch, my grandparents are no longer with us and it's hard to give myself permission to feel all the layers of emotion that come with the change. Watching these beautiful moments with your grandparents helped me tap into those emotions, so thank you 💗
There is a very meditative quality to your video. And it brings lots of nostalgia seeing clips of 後海、南鑼鼓巷、鼓樓and the hutongs that remain. 北京真的很美,I love the motherland.
Until this day is my 10th year not able to go back to Beijing since I left from middle school.. and was always afraid if it has become a place no longer familiar or foreign to me, but in this video it brings me so much memories also thought of my grandparents.. some parts it’s always the Beijing in my memories.. thank you for this video, I hope to go back someday soon too ..❤
voyage!! also i love this vlog, you captured and portrayed beijing so beautifully. made me really want to go back to china too! something about this video really tugs at the heart strings... thank you for sharing with us!
i've gotten so emotional watching you grandfather creating art, thank you so much for sharing such beautiful images with us, i watch your videos since a lot of years and you never failed to make me feel inspired and i am so happy seeing where you are emotionally and mentally right now, i really wish you beauty in all forms jasmine,
I’m new to your channel, but seeing you and tapioca press together is so cool! Love both of your channels, both of your vlogs have made me SOB (in a good way) LOL❤
If you plan to spend more time in China, I really recommend bringing your tattoo jobs here. Many Chinese tattoo artists travel around many cities in China while working a while in local tattoo studios as special guest artists. I am sure many tattoo studios in China appreciate your art style and are willing to invite you as a special artist for a while. It would be so amazing to see your art works in China.
What a beautiful scene. Beijing in my memory is multifaceted, your video showcases the peaceful and beautiful side of Beijing. I have been to all the places that appeared in the video, which has brought back memories for me. Thank you for your video, it was very interesting
Love seeing your 95 yr old grandpa sculpting! That’s inspiring! Just found your vlog, will check out the one on your grandpa. Nice to see you are an artist too, and you have plans to spend more time in Beijing! 👋🌿👋
One of my favorite sci-fi/fantasy series of all time is the Locked Tomb series, starting off with Gideon the Ninth! It does take some braincell effort to read at times (especially the second book), but it's such a unique and poetic story -- I cannot recommend it enough!
im sure you feel stressed in NYC because thats the life you built from scratch so the stress of your career and being in the city adds stress to you. it totally makes sense why you feel so relaxed, you only have what you traveled with and are reconnecting and relaxing with yourself and your family.
I recommend reading “Story of our lives & others” or “Exhalation” by Ted Chiang which I think is a bit of a softer approach to sci-fi whilst mixing in a very genuine human touch. Definitely some of my favorites
its cool that we randomly pick up the skills that our grandparents had or parents left off from which is crazy honestly idk if its subcontiously ingrained in us and part of our dna
When I was 19, I spent four months in Beijing. Before that, I haven't really been to China even though my parents are Chinese. I wish I could go back, my happiest time was in Beijing.
Jas, would you be willing to do a quick breakdown of how you color grade your clips? Even a short thing on Instagram or something. I love the feel of your videos and, as someone who makes her own vlogs, am always tripped up on color grading and light correction :) ty in advance!
Hi Jasmine I loved this moments , l love how you showed us Beijing in a different way , I will come to Beijing after tomorrow and I liked the last restaurant and how in the third floor there was a cafe ,but I did not find it in the app 百度地图😢😢can you write it for me in Chinese so I can go there🙏
ty for watching how was your week? 🤗

Jas, would you be willing to do a quick breakdown of how you color grade your clips? Even a short thing on Instagram or something. I love the feel of your videos and, as someone who makes her own vlogs, am always tripped up on color grading and light correction :) ty in advance!
these clips aren't very colorgraded! (just exposure, and saturation) but for the more cinematic ones I shoot in slog3 and color grade with luts!
I've been reading some sci fi as well! I recommend Ursula K le Guin's, especially The Lathe of Heaven, The Dispossessed, and The Left Hand of Darkness
thank you!!! i will check these out!!
Hi, I really liked your video, it made me want to visit Beijing ! As for sci-fi reccomendations, Isaac Asimov and Bernard Weber are quite good !
