    I'm a Scotsman living in Romania with my Romanian partner as she says that the Chuck Norris VS Communism documentary (whilst amazing) only shows a fraction of just how important American movies were for Romanians to feel just that little bit free if only for the run time of the movies that were smuggled in.

      If it was going to be a Dirty Harry movie, I guess it was good. Most of it comes down to the cast, writing, and directing. Clint was probably only working with the best of the best then. Chuck kept picking too many Indie type movies and some were just cheesy, but I still liked most of them. And face it. Chuck isn't the best actor either. He's decent though. He pretty much just plays himself. Would never be a real good character actor or anything.

    What I like about him is how serious he is even in the most absurd plot. And he’s actually a good actor, never overacting and seems very aware about his limitations.

    The Expendables 2 was rated R. Part 3 was rated PG-13.

    • @Craxin01
      @Craxin01 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I doubt that was because of Chuck Norris. Hollywood can't keep its hands off the PG-13 rating for films that need to be R. Horror movies, hard dramas, violent action movies. PG-13 gets more people in the theater, so they'll cut out everything from curse words to violent imagery to make more money, even making a film worse. Look at Robocop. 1 & 2, rated R. 3? PG-13, and WAY worse for it.

    • @Craxin01
      @Craxin01 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MLJ7956 I did say I doubted Expendables 3 was PG-13 because of Chuck Norris and that it was Hollywood being Hollywood and trying to take every dollar they can. Where is any of what I said wrong? Where did I say Chuck Norris is in Expendables 3?

    • @Craxin01
      @Craxin01 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MLJ7956 My complaint was more that Hollywood would rather sabotage a film meant for an adult audience by removing harsh language, violence, sexuality, and\or nudity just to allow teens into a movie just to sell a watered down product to a larger audience. Have you noticed the glut of "horror" films, a typically R-rated genre being dumbed down and harshly neutered for the sake of allowing a handful of teenagers in who, for the most part, aren't really going to see them? Hollywood is LAZY as hell of late. Crank out safe, easy crap instead of risk, well-made films that, while very well may cater to a more niche audience, be of much higher quality. You want to bring in large audiences for safe crap? Make another tent-pole Marvel movie.

    • @Craxin01
      @Craxin01 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MLJ7956 Hollywood is notoriously risk averse. A reboot, an adaptation (TV show, comic book, videogame, etc.) a trope riddled story all are proven to make a lot of money. Hollywood isn't doing this because they're evil (not saying they AREN'T evil) they're doing it because WE, the movie going public, keep falling for the same trick. It's like training a puppy. If you punish bad behavior and reward good behavior, you'll have a well-trained adult dog. You keep giving it treats when it acts up to "calm it down" and fail to punish bad behavior, you end up with an adult dog that barks at all hours and pisses on the carpet. How many reviewers that talk shit about Hollywood, say they're going to hate the new Star Wars movie or whatever, but then go and see it to review? Hate watching a movie is still watching a movie, the studio still gets its money. We keep seeing movies we, deep down, know are going to be bad. Name recognition and nostalgia gets butts in seats. The very moment that stops working, they'll do something else.
      I get Hollywood making movies hoping a foreign market will sell well, but if a movie totally fails in the U.S., they won't make nearly enough money on a foreign market to justify what they sell. Plus, as for China, it is a large market but they have a hard cap on the number of foreign movies they allow to be shown in any given year. I think it's 10, but it may very well be less. Hollywood wants as broad appeal as they can and foreign markets rarely ever completely justify any one movie. If they did, they'd just make a movie for the foreign market and skip the American market.
      As for political agendas, an unpopular political agenda is not going to sell. The typical movie going demographic skews younger, like 18-40, which typically leans farther left, what you're calling "woke." Not everyone, obviously, but it is a general trend. I get irritated by some of it too, especially when it's a distinctly wagging finger and seriously preachy. When it goes too far, it'll turn off movie goers, and they will see less profit. It's an overcorrection. If you're able to ignore that part of things, you usually find at least an okay movie behind it. If it bothers you this much, and I can understand why it would, then don't watch that movie. Hollywood responds to one thing, money. Give them money, they'll keep doing the same thing. Don't give it to them, they'll try and figure out why audiences didn't like
      espond to what they made and try something new. This is 100% entirely OUR fault, so WE need to be the ones to put a stop to the bad behaviors. Only then will the dog that is Hollywood stop pissing on the carpet.

Nice guy, noticed her fighting in the kids category and told her Sensei to put her in with the adults, he listened. My wife all 5'8" of her at 13 was too powerful for the other kids to handle and noticed my wife holding back ( not wanting to actually hurt them ) while it was to late at that tournament she walked away with a trophy ( she felt she hadn't earned it ). But if it wasn't for Chuck she may never have been challanged enough, sadlly the world back then just wasn't ready to see female fighter's of any kind in the ring. Chuck actively supported girls and women in the sport, he's still one of her hero's!!!
