In america we recently got lidl and our bakery has a big selection too. Suprising because american grocery store bakeries are very bad and Lidl is very, very good.
Lidl bakery is so underrated, thank god theres a lot of snobs that look down at Lidl for being for poor people. More delightful incredibly affordable baking goods for me.
Morrison’s custard Doughnuts are to die for! 50p for 5 doughnuts. They are a different taste to other doughnuts. I love them. Please give them a try. Those patries looks lush. Portuguese tarts so lovely I love lemon and cinnamon in anything, pecan plaits are gorgeous always
I used to work in Lidl, it was a bit of a challenge remembering the codes (there's a cheat sheet on the till if we forget). All the bakery goods come in frozen and we would just bake them in the oven early morning, still tasty though!

Cheers guys, although I shop in lidl all the time I haven't tried much from their bakery other than some different savoury rolls which are really good! as a lidl worker i can confirm we do get tested! by the store managers and secret shoppers each week. We also have till speeds which is why we have to be so fast! my store isn’t so hot on till speeds because we have a high customer service standard instead
Just curious, what's your till speed? I get between 20 - 24 items per minute which doesn't meet the requirements. Things like refunds slow down your average by a lot as well.
Quite good. I feel like they should show your best items per minute just to show your not slacking. Been working for over 15 years at Lidl and my till speed has never been very fast.
We always re-bake our pastry’s from the shop. Probably 10-15 mins on gas mark 5/6. Hot oven and not for too long. Check around 10 mins you don’t want them to burn. Makes them taste so, so much better!! Makes them really fresh and crispy. If we buy reduce bakery’s we put them in the freezer and defrost the night before and bake them in the morning for breakfast 😋 such a treat! Love Lidl bakery, Sainsbury’s is the best, I think Asda is the worst!
The hazelnut doughnut is amazing I’ve been buying it since last year occasionally and it tastes amazing. I was waiting for your thoughts on it 😍one of the best if you love hazelnut.
here in the US we don't have all those options at Lidl. Will be looking for the hazelnut donut and pecan pastry. My favorite is the plain croissant. My friends said she got an almond filled something and that it was very good but I've never seen it there. Since the pandemic the Lidl bakery here is very limited in it's offerings.

You cant beat Lidl bakery and it smells amazing when its cooking of a morning. Its soo easy to remember the codes as well when you put them through the till everyday but when you take the test you seem to forget them all 😂 Ths white chocolate cookie is next level! You should try it xx
Pretzel that you got in Poland is called ''Obwarzanek'' it's super traditional in Crocow and it's great that you liked it :) I always buy them from old ladies because I feel emotional xD
The only problem with our lidl bakery is that the goods are all open and in summer the flies land on everything, so its put me off buying anything from there x

Those apple turnovers are great, fresh from the oven with Lidl's 'best' vanilla ice cream!! Also, I just discovered, the cheese-topped rolls are fantastic with corned beef & Branston pickle! I got two yesterday, still warm!! 😋😋😋
plain croissants work if they are fresh, take it from a person who lived in france for several years, you don't need extra stuff on a croissant if they are made right. same for most pastries. chocolate hazelnut croissants don't need a lot of chocolate if the chocolate is strong and often it is...i have had many. chocolate croissants use chocolate mixed with nuts i think whereas pans chocolate doesn't have nuts...not traditionally. pastel de nata are one of my favourites, they are Portuguese by origin and quite hard to get elsewhere because they sell out so fast, in Portugal they sell them almost everywhere and they are so good. lol flapjacks aren't meant to have crunch, what are you on about, flapjacks are basically an out version of brownies, they are soft. this is just my opinion but if a donut is ring shaped it shouldn't have a filling, only donuts that have a centre should have a filling...that is the point of the centre. ring = no filling, centre = filling.
17:14 Thats not a Donut in American Context. Its German. Its called "Berliner" or "Pfannkuchen" or "Krapfen" depending on the Region in Germany. On Carneval Season you get special or secret fillings or Topings. Its so simple, yet to get it right and fluffy is still not so easy for every bakery in my opinion.

I worked at the lidl bakery and it was horrible. I worked in a newly opened store and all the training I got was 2 mornings with 5 other people and the explanation wasn't very good. I worked the first day we were opened and I was all alone trying to understand what goes where in a new bakery while there were hundreds of people waiting and at some point yelling because I couldn't bake fast enough for the demand. It was actually also physically possible because there were only 4 ovens and with baking time and cooling time alone there wouldn't be enough for the demand. Also those tests you're supposed to do when you first work there you do alone in a room and everyone cheats because you're expected to learn them in an hour. In the register system everything is alphabetically organised so you can find them quick. For a part time worker that's just better than learning them from memory. The codes also tend to change from time to time so that sucks too. It is delicious though
Fun video. My local Lidl sells a bag full of day old bakery for about €1.20. It is a mixed bag of stuff, so there is stuff I wouldn't normally buy. Surprised how much of it is pretty good.

I worked at lidl, we work with PLU Codes. Every thing from the bakery and the vegetables/fruits we needed to use an PLU Code. In the beginnen it was so hard but after a month I knew them al. My fave PLU (I’m from Holland) is 262 (chocolate bread)
It's really interesting how in the UK you have so many sweets, here Lidl sells more savory pastries and baked goods. Regardless, they are absolutely delicious, especially when fresh out of the oven.
Most of those items would probably get an extra point or two if they are heated in the oven for a few minutes. I fill my croissants with ham and vintage cheddar, then heat them up. Amazing for a quick lunch!

Ngl Lidl is honestly the best shop in the world. My go to items in the bakery is: Chocolate Twist, Hazelnut Donut, Cookies.

From a general LIDL experience, its full of fantastic high quality food, that costs next to nothing, but you’ll never have heard of the brand before.
