What kind of horrible human being thinks its a good idea to visit patients in the hospital and mock them? That poor kid with the broken arm... That woman seriously needed taken down a few notches. Being a patient is awkward enough. Having some jackass coming in with a camera crew, probably telling them that they're there to do an interview to get their permission, and then went it's given devolves the situation into a mock-a-thon. That would be horrible.
@242jams Tongue in cheek! That's the term! Too many comedians nowadays don't like to admit their job hinges on what is essentially a primal reaction. The best comedy will always be intelligent, imaginative and/or thought-provoking, but a part of me dies when I sense that the performer's pretension is genuine.
also everything he says is very obviously tongue in cheek. he can say the most horrible things but because its him people just giggle and say "oh sean.."
Brian Blessed presenting City Hospital. Wow I think the guy who suggested it must of been jokeing and somehow the director must of thought it was genius
@Vault101Reject Even though a lot of people already like him, I still think he's one of the most underrated comedians on TV. His series 15 Storeys was fucking brilliant.. but you probably knew that. :)
@JackWMS14 I think I made the point that Sean's rant about children acting starts out as cynical, but then becomes plain absurd as he starts talking about his own experiences. He never really maintains the cynicism for long - it always becomes the lead to something purely silly.
@JackWMS14 Personally, I prefer absurdity to bile - especially when it's lazy and aimless like on Mock the Week. Sean doesn't really come across as miserable when compared to that mob (or people who have a genuine message behind it, like his mate Mark Lamarr). He's sort of like Jack Dee and Paul Merton, who fake being downbeat to point out weirdness.
@Vault101Reject Sean does his share of bitching and swearing (e.g. Twitter, chunts and "the word 'fuck' was created for exactly this moment") but I think the key is that - as Mark Lamarr said once - Sean is a lot less cynical than most stand ups. A lot of my favourite comedians tend to be fairly free of that.
@kisbie I dunno, I think he is quite a miserable guy. Not in a bad way, I love cynical rants more than anything in comedy. He may not go on about things as much as say Charlie Brooker, but he a moan with the best of them.
Sean Lock is such a genius, and I think Jack is too. He can be grumpy with his comedy but it works for him
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE SEAN LOCK!!!
sean lock is naturally funny, yuo could sit with him all day and laugh your head off, without him cracking a single joke
I fucking adore Brian Blessed!
RyanGiggsOBE I
the kid in the skateboarding clip is my best mate he was high on morphine at the time rofl

You know you are old when you recognize Brian Blessed from Flash Gordon and Popeye
Samantha Kerth Popeye?
He played Olive.
many thanks for posting this.

Brian Blessed....mad as a box of frogs
The fucks that guy presenting City Hospital doesn't give... I think he may be my new favorite human being.
That poor skater lad, a least the morphine is taking the edge of dealing with her/
AND JACK DEE IS BRILLIANT! :-)

lol the shriek from the audince at 0:56 is blood-curdling
That foot looks like a prop off a sci-fi show.
it does actually kind of sound like a joke sean lock would make.
how are the mighty fallen!
Brian Blessed's carrer is on the skids!
also everything he says is very obviously tongue in cheek. he can say the most horrible things but because its him people just giggle and say "oh sean.."
Just watched 30 seconds, but I like the intro.

5:07 - 5:22 literally had me in tears of laughter.

Eeeew... I was eating when that foot came up.

@lukemiles88
Too right, mate.
"Hi-diddly dee, an actor's life for me...!"
@Twirlyhead morphean skateboarding was all the rage back then didn't you no? lol..
@spider5600 I agree with the director. It is genius!
@Vault101Reject I saw him live, and I actually cried with laughter, such a good entertainer
@Bodybuddha - is that the reason why he fell of the skateboard or do you perhaps mean they gave it to him afterwards for the pain ?
@spider5600 That's pretty much how Brian gets all his work.
@JackWMS14 Personally, I prefer absurdity to bile - especially when it's lazy and aimless like on Mock the Week. Surely a visit from Brian Blessed would justify homicide. And since when did BB become a "Hollywood actor"?
So is Zeuscules.
@kisbie Sean is well cynical!
Have you seen him on Big fat Quiz? Haha.
Although Greg Proops as a guest on this show would be fun. Too bad I don't think it's ever coming back.
I was eating when I saw Brian's foot..
I feel sorry for Blessed that he's reduced to this crap. He had a good part in 'I, Claudius' and it was all downhill from there.
@Vault101Reject Sean does his share of bitching and swearing (e.g. Twitter, chunts and "the word 'fuck' was created for exactly this moment") but I think the key is that - as Mark Lamarr said once - Sean is a lot less cynical than most stand ups. @Vault101Reject sean would make a good riddler :P
0:22
Greg Proops?
Yes, it sucks to be an almost constantly working actor. Just kidding--I take your point.
his foot is completely atrocious
i used to have mild respect for Blessed..
* thespian
Pause at 5:55 xD
I love Brian Blessed, but this is not his best work.
His foot - he must have a shoe one size bigger on that one!
@kisbie I dunno, I think he is quite a miserable guy. Not in a bad way, I love cynical rants more than anything in comedy. He may not go on about things as much as say Charlie Brooker, but he a moan with the best of them.
existenceisrelative - you fail at jokes. please stop.
