I think the poor camera quality problem has already been solved, every camera on almost every good phone this year has been really good.

I love how Huawei matured over the last couple of years. Sure, there are some things that can be improved (e.g. video quality) but overall they have some great phone. I use the Nova Plus for quite some time. Works like a charm despite midrange specs.

I've had this phone since February 2017. I still adore this thing. We don't see enough reviews of people who use these devices for a year or two as their only device. If I was any good at video, I'd do it myself.
The Mate 9 hasn't slowed down for me at all. I had to do a factory reset once, but it was to fix something I had done to the phone. The battery life is starting to dip. That's really the only negative that I've seen in this long.
Yeah, it's wider than the phones out today, but I like that I have that extra space for gaming. Plus my big hands need the width for typing on Google Docs. I figure once this narrow phone style goes away we'll get 3:2 Aspect Ratio phones that will be perfect for people like me with bigger hands. Then we can all say the Blackberry Passport was ahead of its time. :)

I have to say, I used to be skeptical of Huawei, but after getting an Honor 8, I can firmly recommend them. This phone is _blazing_ fast and buttery smooth, much more so than my Galaxy S7 ever was even out of the box. Most people hate the look of EmotionUI (I personally like it. It's like iOS with Android functionality, which is the perfect combo in my eyes), but it's very well optimized with their Kirin processor. This thing just flies. I have yet to see it drop a frame. I'm surprised this wasn't more of a highlight in the reviews because this performs better than any phone I've used. I actually got this to replace my S7 because I was tired of the S7's sluggish performance and unreliability. If my Honor 8 actually stays this way, I will become a loyal Huawei customer. They know what they're doing.

Same, except for the fact that I'm using a Mate 7. I love it. Even though it's the first popular phone from the Mate series and it does have it's flaws, I absolutely love it.

bulldog521521 Very true, but at the same time, a Samsung running touch wiz is about the bottom of the Android phone spectrum.

I don't know Samsung TW is not as bad as people say on S7, I like the In built Smart Manager as well, you can clean cache ,clear ram, disable app with that build in app. I guess you have to do all that if you own an android phone.

    • @Spooky_Psyche
      @Spooky_Psyche 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Zoro I like the features of TouchWiz too; I actually love them. But the software is just horribly optimized. It slows down to the point of unusability within a few months and I've tried clearing cache and all that and nothing works. The only thing that works is factory resetting so it can reset its decline to trash again. Samsung just needs to work on optimization and they would have a killer Android skin.

I've finally decided to get this phone to replace my Note 7! You hit the nail on the head, it solves several problems with Android phones if all the claims hold true. One thing I think has come out since you first aired this vid is that there is one bottom firing speaker with the earpiece serving as the other. Can't wait for this to become availble in the US as Samsung is working very hard to get us Note 7 holdouts to return our phones! I want this, nothing else!

About the battery and performance, I think I believe Huawei, first the best battery on a phone was the ascend mate 7 for me, and this year I've had the nexus 6p, the s7 edge and the p9 plus, and even though the P9 had a slower flash memory SoC than the other phones, it was the best performer for me, very snappy and almost no lag or frame drops,
If the P9 had a better video camera and a better audio output, I would have stayed with it, but in this case the S7 edge outperfomed the P9

If I own the Huawei Mate 9 I would flaunt the back all the time, because it looks elegant like the Nexus 6P. What I notice with Huawei devices are that their devices have elegant backs that are eye catching; some unique, others pay homage to the iPhone 5/5S and it's more obvious with the Space Gray color popularized in 2013.

This doesn't have bottom firing speakers (plural). Only one bottom firing speaker (the other grill is for symmetrical looks), and the earpiece doubles as a second front firing speaker.

Well, the fourth main problem of phones is the pricing. Huawei didn't think about that, neither does any manufacturer besides the chinese ones.

Kiwi One solution. Try to buy mate 9 from China. The price is likely to be at least 150 Euro cheaper in China.

seldom we get to see honesty in review.. like "uncharted territory" when it comes to the dual Leica camera..
anyway.. can't wait for full review.
and ya, agree with some of the points made.. like no AMOLED, making apps drawer available, etc...

Hi Michael, I'm having a dilemma right now especially with Google Pixel and whole lotsa phones out there. Which one do you suggest, in terms of, battery life & performance + storage (cuz I play lotsa games)? I mean I haven't seen such a minute review before. Your expertise would be a major help! Thanks!
