      @@LordofSadFac I disagree. Vita had a great first party exclusive. With Uncharted, Gravity Rush, TearAway, Call Of Duty, Resident Evil, ect ect. Tons of BIG title games only for it to flop. I think I remember people making fun of the Vita when it came out, like "Oh it's just a glorified PSP lmao". I never payed attention to it after that and never really heard from it again, but obviously the platform itself turned out better than I expected in hindsight.

It is REALLY annoying get shot by a Reticle, then a Zoomy and then 2 Satellites all from the same opponent with no break in between. Also, I'm convinced Shadow had a larger blast radius on her special weapon as A.I. because I would get hit from it even if I was a Minion's length away, when I couldn't do the same a Mr.Grimm away from the target with that special.

      I LOVED Twisted Metal 1&2 so much and played 'em as much as Tony Hawk 1&2. But when I got Black with my PS2 for Christmas, I just could not get into it no matter how hard I tried. It just didn't feel right in general (to me) especially the controls. It was also so much darker (literally visually) and hard to tell what was going on at times. Happy to know you all enjoyed it though.

    Vigilante 8 and Vigilante 8: 2nd Offense are awesome games featuring funky soundtracks, varied special weapons for each vehicle and environments were quite destructible. Upcoming consoles would offer great possibilities for such destruction, but for current publishers it’s easier to make barely interesting open world maps with grind-based missions.

      Yeah, at it's core it was a fun game. The game was overall mechanically sound in terms of gameplay and physics, but it was disappointing that there wasn't a full roster of characters and that there was racing in the game. The things I really DO enjoy from TM 2012 were the Electric Cage matches and the boss fights. Those were really the bread and butter of the single player imo. Black is my personal favorite of the series, but even still TM 2012 isn't bad at all. I will say I'd rather play it then Small Brawl, that's for certain.

    To be fair, Twisted Metal Black is heavily implied to be all in Sweet Tooth's head, making it less a reboot and more 'side story' to the main franchise. 3 and 4 were ungodly stupid story wise and the universe of 2 was where it was at, so it was a wise move to tie Head On back into the storyline of 2.

    • @wargun1000
      @wargun1000 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I think we can all agree Head-On is the REAL Twisted Metal 3, either that or Rouge Trip considering that game was made by Singletrack, the same guys behind TM2.

    • @scottjs5207
      @scottjs5207 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Ask David Jaffe himself, each title wasn't really supposed to be direct sequels, the "it's all in my head" plot line has been played out through TM2, Black and Head On. Aside from that, it doesn't really make sense since there are several alternate endings anyway making it unnecessary to try and have one solid outcome. But the biggest problem with these games also comes from it's founders jumping ship from company to company and never really just stick it out. And also there's the fact that Sony owns TM as well.

    There's some more to "car combat" - it's always a niche genre, but it still exists in a way. Not doing terribly well, alas, but here's hoping for better developers picking up the flag. At the time of Twisted Metal dying, there was Ex Machina/Hard Truck - shame it almost isn't known in the Americanized game sphere, since it's basically Car Combat: The RPG. Now the developers of that game have made Crossout, an online multiplayer with its own bag of issues and none too strong playerbase... but at least it proves the ironic universality of the niche appeal of car combat and gives some hope for the concept.

    Red Dog; It's more linear but all about shooting, scoring high, speed running and its spectacular handling model.

Ill admit it was cool and different going against a giant Hammerhead in the 2012 game, but growing up playing the originals in the late 90s early 2000s made me miss the basic gameplay that made Twisted Metal what it was back then.
