There are too many games on the PS2 that even my siblings and I back in the 2000s weren't able to collect, either due to some games being exclusive to Japan or PAL territories, or straight up not being able to buy it at that moment in time. So we have about 30 to 40 PS2 games in our library. And definitley my favorites ranges from Thrillville to Spyro Enter The Dragonfly, to Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 and X-Men Legends I & II/Sonic Heroes.....And especially the PS2 menu, god that one is definitely my favorite along with the PS1's bootup intro.
It looks like you need a new laser, mate. Cleaning the laser may work but chances are you need a new laser and lube. (lube for the laser rails lol) The fat PS2s suffer disc read errors due to the lasers wearing out. I have one PS2 here where some games work and some don't. It's a sign the laser is on the way out.

I still have my original collection. Friends who dont want their old consoles give them to me. I have 2 ps2 slims and an xbox 360 as well as 2 wiis. Personally my favorite games were ratchet and clank as well as jak and daxter on the ps2
