This are the first two weeks of Axolotl, Ambystoma mexicanum, egg development in time-lapse. From the fresh-laid egg until the youngsters wiggle out of the egg-shell all in just one film.
Tamara, that depends on temperature. My Film goes for more than 14 days in real time. But it was recorded at 12 degrees C. At 20 it will only take 8 days or so. User the time to prepare: Artemia as primary food, and later Grindal Worms or something similar...
wow That is awesome! I'll have to look into that. I wanted to make a similar video and I didn't know how to do it, then I found out someone already made a timelapse of eggs! I'm so happy I found this video! I can't believe how much they move!
For breeding I would prefer small containers and daily water exchanges. The better the water the more beautiful grow the gills. When Axolotl have learned to search their food pellets, they might have a bigger basin with less frequent water exchanges.

Do you just put them in a filtered fish tank? I see so many people keeping them contained in small deli cups. I figured a tank with ample space would be more natural, require less water changes, and have a smaller chance of them becoming cannibalistic. Only downside I can see is them struggling to find their food possibly? I actually have some eggs right now in a deli cup and have done water changes. What is the better of the two?

I love this! How did you record this/setup? What kind of camera will record that long? Absolutely fantastic footage!
Hi Jules,
I use a logitech pro 9000 webcam connected to an old Windows-XP Laptop that controls the time-lapse recording.
