Let it be known throughout the land, I have officially watched all of the whiskey vault videos from beginning to end. I'd like to thank my job for ignoring me enough to allow me to watch so many videos and of course the great and powerful Châd for giving me the strength to do this.

I got a bottle of this yesterday and it is quite tasty imo. And I was drinking it out of a paper coffee cup lol (I just moved all the way across the country so my Glens are still all packed up)
Rex, even the Knob Creek Smoked Maple bottle has this wavy dimpled texture. So it’s probably not that limited, just a new bottle design. And I agree, I like the feel of it.
Just picked up 2 bottles from our Alabama government stores. For whatever reason, Uncle Sam did a great job with our barrel!

During quarantine I bought a Single barrel knib creek that was supposed to be for a restaurant. Top 3 whiskeys I've ever had...I went back to the store and bought all 8 bottles they had.
Quarantine sucked...the knob helped.

The Knob Creek 14yr store picks I've had have all been pretty special. I feel like the extra years in the barrel really round out the bourbon and get rid of those sharp edges.

Just picked up a Knob Creek barrel pick from a local bar last week as well. For the price, it's tough to beat! 9 years old, single barrel, bottled at 120 proof? 👍👍👍
I got a local store pick of this. A lot of the same notes. Definitely the "hottest" drinker on my shelf. While I drink my whiskeys neat, this one does best with a good whiskey ball in a rocks glass. It cools it off a bit and loosens up those flavor notes.
They started doing this design on all their bottles. I recently had some of the Knob Creek 9yo and the bottle had that texture to it.

After trying the first bottle I went back and bought a case of a 14yo knob creek single barrel, it was so spectacular, and at case price only $38 per bottle... Best value I have ever seen
If and when I add ice to my whiskey. Usually I use a small ice cube. So it doesn’t mute all the notes.

Buy as many as you can at that price! Wonder if its the single Barrel 10year or just 10year. The last two I bought this year and last year did not say single Barrel but it did have the 10year age statement. Two years ago it had both.
@@Sean-uh6te they removed the "single barrel" statement because they started bottling them in a factory with machinery so theres a chance there may be a drop from another barrel.

Probably one of the most slept on and passed over sleeper bourbons on the shelf as far as daily sips go. Unfortunately, with the single barrel, some do come off a bit on the wild side.

I picked up a 6 year single barrel Rye pick (115) and found it to be the same. Talk about coming in hot and spikey.
I like Knob Creek, but I always add a touch of water to it, too.

What Dan describes describes initially about the spikey palette and alcohol punch on both nose and palette is what I get on most Jim Beam products. They always drink and nose hotter than they are or atleast compared to another bourbon of equivalent proof. There's some good flavors in the higher end Beam stuff , but they always drink hot.
From my experience all my KC store picks are way different on the neck pour than after they open up.

What is the best tasting in the knob creek lineup
I saw a 1.75 of the regular 9 year KC in one of these wavy bottles and it looked SO cool.
I was tempted to buy it, but had literally just bought a fifth of if the week before, so I passed on it.
I've been kicking myself in the ass ever since,.. I'll probably never spot another one again.

they describe it perfectly but this bourbon is so good with 2 parts bourbon to one part water or just chuck an ice cube in it

So I think the wavy bottle is gonna be the standard bottle for Knob Creek, cause I got a 1.75L bottle the other day that has the wavy glass.
I find, that if you eat an ice cube then take a drink, it brings more flavors out without watering down the drink

Definitely think u guys need to revist this one. Drinks much milder to me than u guys got off this one. Side by side with the 12yr it drinks softer to me.
a mechanical timer switch, like you use for bathroom fans, attach to nuetral for ice maker, will turn off instead of on for what ever time it goes to, they sell a range of times 30 min, 1, 2 hr......

There are a lot of bad barrel picks out there. The worst bottle on my shelves is a Woodford Reserve Double Oaked barrel pick,... I can't possibly believe that anyone would have tasted it and then picked it,.. it literally tastes like it is turning to vinegar.
I think a lot of the liquor stores simply do not take the barrel selection process seriously and they just arbitrarily pick whatever, because they KNOW that it will sell out quickly anyway, just because it has a store pick sticker on it.
Luckily I have found a store that pretty consistently makes great picks, Anyone who is in the South East Texas area should check out a small chain of stores called Longhorn Liquor, they're awesome.
Agree. I've found a couple of good "pickers" and will buy their store picks religiously. But, the good ones are hard to find. Cheers!
That's really disappointing to hear. There are only one or two stores in my city that do barrel picks consistently, and both of them are serious & have a definite preference profile. Even with that, they'll be sitting on the shelves for at least a couple months.

Good stuff. I noticed toasted coconut on the palate more than any other whiskey I’ve had. Just on the first couple sips, though. Weird. Good, though.

I bought a Select and Reserve store pick barrel proofs, same store. The Select is good, but the Reserve is not nearly as good. I have no idea what the difference really is as the bottle doesn't indicate it. I'm commenting more to say it's definitely barrel to barrel. 90% of the time the barrel picks I've had of Knob Creek have been great (I'm a big Knob Creek fan to begin with). The blue label from 2020 was my all time favorite and I only have one bottle left that I'm afraid to crack open as it's too darn good.

I was thinking a champagne flute purely based on it is the most similar shape. I would be interested to know as I only drink neat pours presumably like the rest of the magnificent bastards here :)

Once we've inundated the vault enough, they get annoyed and f^&* up the intro. It's ball-busting, to be sure. But it's the attention I crave.
Spend more time on the nose and acclimate your palate to the proof, it will be much better. I didn’t get any of the negative characteristics they mentioned.

Use whiskey rocks. I got them for my birthday, and they chill your whiskey without watering down your drink. Worst case scenario, add some water.
