Benjamin Burkhardt, no (neither is the new Velar), but Tata now turned the Range Rover, which used to be a single model and then two with the "Stormer" or Sport, into a whole (more luxurious) sub-brand within Land Rover, Discovery (more of a mass-market look) and Defender (rugged, no nonsense look) being the other two. With the exception of the "Stormer" or Sport all 3 sub-brands will have their equivalent of each other, being at last filled up by 3 Defender models in the next 2-4 years.
@@arnehurnik Problem is they move the Range Rover more upmarket that puts loyal customers out of reach. They are also doing it stupidly to the whole rest of the Land Rover lineup. The future Defender might be so expensive to the loyal customers and it won't be as hardcore as an offroad utilitarian vehicle as it used to be for decades. The nice thing about The Range Rover is it has high tech equipment. Just like the mechanics shop it's always in.
I had a 96 Discovery that was actually the most reliable/unreliable vehicle I've ever owned. It never left me stranded. But it always managed to break down in my driveway. I'd own another one in a heartbeat though!
Old range rovers: very reliable (even today some run)
New range rovers: *blows head gasket* not reliable
No range rovers were ever reliable, always been 3 legged donkeys hence when you own one you become a certified member of the bonnets up club.
Watching this from Guyana. South America. Another excellent video. Range Rovers are soooooo faaaauncy!
Wow. Missed so much in this video Boy!
So much research and info in others and you dropped the ball in this one.
5.0 SC is 510 hp, what about the SVR, Ford and Tata? Have loved all the rest of your work but giving you a C-

@@pnwautocar5291 Not a Range Rover.
Everytime I see a *RangeRover* it's either *going* to a *Mechanic* OR *coming* from a *Mechanic*
That's a stereotype
Sai yeah, for a reason
@@canapaydin no it isn't. I'm not arguing whether RRs are the most reliable amongst competition, they aren't, but I've seen several well-taken -careof rovers ( 2017 and above ) pass 100k without any major issues. Rovers are predominantly diesels in my country, so maybe the petrols sold in USA are less reliable, idk
They say the same about the bmw x3 but here I am with zero problems
@@jamievilla1814 BMW is reliable just expensive fix
Hey you used our footage at OutLand Motors at 10:46 ! Love the show ! Best 4x4 by Far!
I have been waiting so long for a Land Rover vid. Let alone an up to speed on the Range Rover. Who else has an addiction to Landys?
Even NOW. Range Rover drivers STILL hold the tradition, of looking down on poor people as they drive by. 🤣
And the poor people return the favor by not stopping to help when the range rover breaks down one block over.
Yeah sadly it only lasts 3 blocks, after that they are calling the tow truck
@@megakiller999 💯🤣
You're right. The poor people are the ones driving while people in the Range Rovers wait for the tow truck.
I always think of Dennis form Always Sunny
Ooooh the p6 3500 V8 one of the best british cars ever made
What, the rover p4 and p5's are way more stylish, especially the P5B coupé. Also way better building quality as far as i know
J S. That is true, but i still prefer the P6. There was a white one near our house that was parked in the driveway of some old guy's house. And i love every single bit of it. But hey its my preferance
Yeah!
My grandad helped make the Range Rover in Solihull before he retired and my uncle works at Jaguar Land Rover now!
Just so you know, it's pronounced Sol-ee-hul and Wuh-rik-sher.
You said Warwick Davies right in another video, James!
Fun fact: that 215 Buick V8 was also loaned out to Oldsmobile. Olds tweaked it a bit, and added a turbo. Yes, a turbo. In 1962. Oldsmobile cutlass Jetfire. Don't forget to fill up on Turbo Rocket Fluid (water/meth injection)! It already had over 10:1 compression, so to eliminate detonation, that was Oldsmobile's solution. It made 215 hp at 4,600 rpm and 300 lb⋅ft at 3,200 rpm. The cutlass, and the '62 corvair monza spyder were the very first *production* american turbocharged cars.
"This was an excitement pa-poo"
I died...had to pause the vid 😂😂😂😂😂
Please do an up to speed on the Oldsmobile 442 I love how you did the Wisconsin accent!
Yes 😯
A Land Rover Defender is as reliable as a Mcdonalds ice cream machine
Only if Americans are driving it
@@montypope9139 Yeah, it's more reliable for Brits, when they're coming home from the mechanic.
yea and just as cool!! ice cool baby
I think its something like 80% of all land rover defenders ever made are still on the road. hard core as hell
@@69bock69 dude haven't you noticed but mcdonalds ice cream machines are always fucking broken lol, or well in South Africa they are, just like a Landy
Love you James! Definitely my favorite donut personality!
As a Wisconsinite I found the Wisconsin references hilarious. Love doughnut!

@Zack Smith range rover had unreliable engine everyone wanted a range rover just for showoff if u want reliability and quality get a japanese suv more like land cruiser
@Zack Smith yup
I know is motorcycles and quads but Please up to speed on Yamaha
Jonah Werbelow, now that's a COMPLICATED one, since they deal in not only bikes and boat engines, but car engines (for Toyota and Ford) and musical instruments (their logo consists of three piano tuning forks, y'all).
As a stopgap until James tries his hand at this try for Company Man's YT video on Yamaha. It'll give James some idea of what I'm talking about...
PS: Japan's first notable sports car, the 2000GT, was made for Toyota by Yamaha after being rejected by Nissan...
They made a crazy super car back in the day
I love my Yamaha keyboard from 1986.
not always Yamaha made the engine or at least partly made the engine for the Toyota 2000GT and the Celica probably even more
Love my Yamaha synthesizer!
Hope you could a video about the Suzuki Samurai or the Jimny. 😊
GASP* THE JIMMY!?
I’d never buy a new Range Rover, but I love the pre 1990 range rovers. The classic Range Rover 🔥

Last time i saw one was in a junkyard...with other range rovers 😂
My mom has a Range Rover Autobiography. It has a champagne bottle chiller and reclining rear seats. We’re very cozy and usually have a good buzz as we go back to the dealer for more repairs.

"If we look at J.D Power, from the years 2007 to 2016, Land Rover and Range Rover’s best score was either 3 out of 5 or 6 out of 10. For eight of those years, they scored 2.5 out of 5 or less. This is below average for dependability. A further study by J.D Power found that the industry average for problems was 133 per 100 vehicles. Land Rover had a pretty shocking 179 problems per 100 cars."
