    did you know that you can find a piece of Porto in many northern cities?
    Some cathedrals were built with dark granite from the port. More rare, noble and unique in Portugal. in Viseu, literally the city of Granite, there is a huge cathedral built solely from Porto's dark granite.

    Bacalhau/ CODFISCH is very Portugese, and old recipice can prove it, He was always nown as the food of the poor people in Portugal! And since the discovery of America it was the only food that they had one the the long journey on there boats . Today there is no mor codfish (Bacalhau) near Portugal and Spain and the Portuguese are not allowed to fish in other waters, so they have to import the CODFISCH from Norway!

      I recently moved to Portugal and things must be changing. I recently rented an apartment in Quarteira from a small Olhao real estate agency. I was told the apartment was three times bigger than it is. When I moved in I found significant mold. And that is just the beginning. I gave up my apartment based on what I was told by the agency. And I am handicapped so it isn't easy for me to move.This experience has been a nightmare. Only deal with large reputable agencies.

    If it cost about $900/month for a single person to live in Porto, Portugal--outside the city limits, then you can just budget $12K for the year, right? Can you get a Digital Nomad VISA for a year from the Portuguese Government if you have $12K in your US bank account?

    Porto has an advantage over Lisbon. it is closer to the cities of the north, more populated than the south and center. This means that many people from the north in cities like Braga, Viana, Guarda, Viseu and Aveiro, who deal with more important matters in Porto or in Coimbra.

      For me and I’m “ suspect” because I’m a Portuense!! But people in Porto are friendly and very Real, upfront and helpful as well as energetic with a good sense of humor🙂.. As for me I left in 1967 and Emigrated to the USA I’m in New York.. I lived in Connecticut and Fort Lauderdale,Florida but I can honestly say I love the vibe of my town💙💙.. every I visit and I’ll go to a cafe, seat and just soak it all in🙋🏻‍♂️🙋🏻‍♂️.. Nobody bothers me to consume more of this or more of that!!. I’ll be visiting once again in 2022, this time I’m really going to think about either moving back or spend more time with my family and friends…

    The cost of living is no cheaper here than elsewhere in Europe. Don’t tell lies.
    Europe’s most expensive cars ? Electricity?
    High costs of water too.
    A decent family home in Portugal is approx €850K , just the same as the rest of Europe!

    • @michaelw3090
      @michaelw3090 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You clearly have never been to Portugal. Utilities are expensive, but food isn't... There are comparitive tables for the cost of living provided by Europe, showing Portugal as less expensive than most.
      Regarding the price of a family home : in most regions you can buy a 3 bedroom house with swimming pool and some land for 300K... look on sapo.pt ... for 850K you get a luxurious villa that would cost double or more in most other european countries.

    • @maxflight777
      @maxflight777 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve lived here for almost 3 years !
      I’ve owned two homes here.
      As I said ,
      A decent family home in Portugal is approx €850K , just the same as the rest of Europe.
      (No one wants to live in your damp Un-heated remote €300k rural ruin)
      Food billls 30% more than U.K./France /Germany. Fact
      (Portugal even charges tax on food , can you think of anywhere else that does that ?) (the USA maybe?) .
      Portugal’s VAT rate of 23% is also higher than anywhere I can recall.
