Fully agree on Jaeger. It’s a German name and at least to me it seems legitimate to pronounce it in its original language. Most Swiss Germans do so. On the other hand Edmond Jaeger was born in Alsace which was French at the time (before it became German and then French again). Edmond went to Paris before teaming up with LeCoultre based in the Vallée de Joux. Not surprisingly the brand itself uses the French pronunciation. Although this seems to be the preferred way you could get away with the German version.

To the people suggesting Jaeger should be pronounced with a German accent: Edmond Jaeger was a frenchman, born in Andlau, Alsace, a region of France both nowadays and when he was born, so you should pronounce both Jaeger and LeCoultre like he's pronouncing them, with a French accent.

Well, however in Alsace Jaeger is pronounced the German way. It doesn't mean when a region is located in France that they all speak French. In Alsace many (older) people speak a mixture between a German dialect and some French words included! So pronouncing Jaeger the German way seems more correct to me than to pronounce it French! 🤔

@@AjejeB no you are confused, Patek was a Czech that happened to live in Poland. You may subscribe to the magic dirt charade however that does not make it true. Having polish citizenship does not make a man a pole. I am a citizen of the United States however that doesn't make me an American Indian. I am a German. No matter what patch of dirt I reside on I will always be a German, I will always be a German until I exist no longer.

There are so many rude comments in here trying to tell a person from German-speaking Switzerland, where many of these watch brands originate from, how to properly pronounce them in (Swiss) German. Are you guys serious?

4:04 You wouldn’t emphasize the “ü” in Hütte so much in German, just a short ü and stronger tt.
