- Last time we removed the interior and old damaged roof skin from our 2019 GMC Sierra Denali rebuild project. It is time to remove the skin and a few other parts we are going to need from our used roof assembly and get them on the truck.

This one of my favorite builds that you’ve done! I love the GM trucks. If I ever ditch the Escalade and go with a pickup, it will be a pearl white loaded Denali.
It is my favorite truck so far!
I have a ‘15 Denali HD Duramax. I’ve owned a lot of trucks and this one is my favorite so far. The ‘21 Denali HD are nice but mines paid for. 😆

Another way to do this, is to splice the six piller posts much faster, much stronger, without breaking the outer roof skin weather seal keeping OEM...
Tosses a roof panel in the pile within the first ten seconds of the video. Love this channel! You never disappoint, Scott.

Playing the "Roof Skin" drinkin game, i'm HAMMERED!!!
I bought a new '90 Chevy Suburban and, within a year, the paint was peeling. GM authorized a local body shop to completely strip the paint off the body and repaint it. Very nice job the body shop did. Pretty much all car makers suffered thru this.
It's wise to appreciate the people who help you.
This is great. I don't know why people question why you do thing in the comments. In my book you know exactly what your doing and what needs to be done. Keep up the good work and great videos. I love when the friday video comes out.

Man my old 89 F-150 was mostly grey primer above the waist!
I made a good living off those era Fords. Averaged about two a week for almost a year. Some were so bad I could strip them with a razor blade.
I guess that waste instead of waist was a Freudian slip.

It's definitely a lot of work fixing this truck, but it'll be worth it when it's finished and you'll have a nice truck to keep ..... hopefully ..... if someone doesn't pry it out of your hands using a large amount of money as a pry-bar! They are still doing it, my 2017 YUKON faded after two years. (Pretty Dark Gray)I told the dealer I was hoping the paint would last at least until I finished paying it.😂

I believe if you are doing anything body related you are using the correct and appropriate hammer!

You could probably protect the welding wire just as well by wrapping it around a couple of dowels. That would give you a better grip too. Just saw a foot off of the end of the Wandering Gnome's push broom handle.
Just had a legit LOL. I used to have a '89 S-10 in blue and silver. It had to go back to the dealer for a complete repaint before it was six months old. The paint peeled off in SHEETS. Like the whole truck was sprayed with WD40 between the primer and the paint.
Even then, the front corners of the box rails rusted completely through in less than a year. I asked about warrantying that and the dealer was really a-hole about it and I could tell I'd be without a truck for at least a month, so I let it rust.
You bought a blue and silver truck. Little did you know colors were temporary at that time! 😂

In Georgia, a vehicle won't pass salvage rebuild inspection with any repaired understructure. If they can see worked metal it fails. You did this roof right which

Wow, a white one to boot! Too bad you'll still have to paint it :-) I love one time I was calling a wrecking yard for a steering column for an old S 10 blazer, I needed a red one, the guy asked me what color I was looking for, I said beige. You can bet a red one would it cost me an extra 50 :-) he said all he had was red :-) I said it'll be better than nothing!
100% proper use of safety glasses in that context, they were protecting that dome in case the skin slipped.

18:00 yeah I was one of "those" makes sense now....I just looked at it as a dent in the roof itself.....no different than a dent in a door or fender.

I’m amazed you can keep tracks of all the nuts, bolts, clips and other assorted pieces.
Probably helps having video to review as needed showing disassembly, not to mention experience.

I ordered three sets of that primer masking system. Just really happy with the way it's working out. The ones I got did have some strange markings on them but didn't seem to affect the performance.
I do get the one with markings and words as well and can confirm, no adverse effects! Although the ones marked Ford seem to fail once in a while! 😂

I have what is left of a 1984 C-10 that was a beautiful shade of blue and the paint on the hood and the inside of the bed peeled of in pieces roughly the size of a kitchen towel. It is now a truck bed trailer

Well Scott, another great precise job of putting new metal on. So much fun to watch, Tools are made to be used, if it gets the job done it is the right tool. Question, what gauge is that truck metal? Great job so far. The only mistake is not moving that shark fin antenna to the middle of the roof where it belongs. My biggest pet peeve is why they stick them off center like that.
