Wow, I loved watching this review. Thank you. We do, however, disagree on a few things. I am an audio engineer, and honestly, I like the sound of my AirPod pros almost as much as my $4,000 studio monitors! They don’t shape the sound at all. People tend to like speakers and headphones that “add” bass, or “add” sparkle, but, of course, really good speakers or headphones don’t “add” anything. Honestly, the reproduction is very, very good in these! On the flip side, however, they feel fragile and all apple earbuds, including these, tend to work loose and eventually drop out of my ears, which is strange because my ears hold on to all other earbuds like they’re bolted in! The noise cancelling, on these is comparable to my Bose QCs.
Just got the Bose QC45s and the noise canceling is a little bit better than the AirPod Pros in my experience. I like the Bose better, overall but wanted the Pros for busting around outside or when I want to be more discreet with my music listening. I’m not gonna bust our giant over eat headphones just anywhere. That’s an “at home” type of thing to me.
First time i tried these the dishwasher happened to be on and i seriously had to double check if it was the noise cancelling or the dishwasher stopped 😂
I love Sony’s buds because they sound so good and I’ve always bought them...but the hassle of the XM3 is too much...so I bought Apple’s instead. I was getting tired of the cord too...
So you are using the airpods pro? Can you recommend these to use in the gym listening to podcasts while soundspeaker at the gym playing faitly loud music?
And their software! I'm looking at the Bose 700 now because Sony's lengthy history of firmware issues w the MX3. Doesn't surprise me a bit that their software also sucks for their earbuds.
Finally - an unbiased and accurate review of the air pods pro. Exactly how I feel about the air pods pro, but explained in a way I couldn't do on my own.
12:12 water resistance... wouldn't count on it, 70% alcohol that accidentally got in when I sprayed the tips caused the right headphone to rattle whenever I touch it, walk, or anything bassy is going on outside (either in transparency mode or noise cancelling), internal 40-60Hz sine causes the right one to rattle while the left is sounding just like a bass sine wave. (on 80% volume and up) I have to go down to 40 to cause it to rattle and only once I've passed 120hz it stops to rattle. I know 80% volume is A LOT but noise canceling or transparency will cause them to rattle no matter the volume.
Thanks for the great review! I would consider myself an Audiophile aswell, using my Beyerdynamics DT 1990 Pros as my everyday headphones at home (Schiit Magni/Modi Stack) Since my old bluetooth earphones somehow got technical issues after just 5 months, I went for the AirPods Pro for all the convenience, especially since I‘m using an iPhone, iPad and MacBook Pro and can flawlessly switch between devices. But how about sound quality? I am personally pleased with how they sound for casual wearing. They aren‘t as precise as 1More Tripple drivers (obviously no chance against the beyers, no comparison needed here), but they‘re yet detailled enough to enjoy your music, no matter how complex it is. Bass is punchy and very precise, whilst not being as overloaded as the 1Mores bass (which is still precise, but incredibly strong, probably just for bassheads, didn‘t enjoy it long term). What I‘m absolutely fine with is the mids, nothing to complain about. Here, they are fair competition to the 1Mores. Fun thing about the fit and silicon earplugs: I had custom aftermarket foam pads on my 1More and yes, soundquality improved. But no, wearing comfort for me did not at all. Somehow, I seem to have massive issues wearing foam pads and I sadly can‘t get any in ear headphones to permanently fit well without falling out. BUT the AirPods Pro managed to do exactly this. This makes them an absolute winner for me. Also, regarding noise cancellation: I‘ve been going with Sonys WH-1000XM2 and the original XMR-1000 (don‘t have them anymore, both had a strange cracking/vibrating sound after ~1 year whilst listening to music, especially during bassy parts, sounded like a loose piece of metal) and the mark 2‘s noise cancellation was obviously superior to the AirPods Pro‘s, but not at all with the same wearing comfort. As you said, the AirPods Pro aren‘t even realisable in the ear. When I first plugged them into my ears I was blown away, because I was in the middle of a busy train station and suddenly had complete silence listening to music (for the first time not even being capable of hearing my own steps, that didn‘t work using overears before) whilst not even feeling any headphones and being sure they fit😂 All in all, great review, fair point regarding sound quality, it‘s not yet comparable to wired InEar quality, but considering technical complexity of fitting all this into such incredibly tiny inears together with a reliable battery they are definitely the best go-to completely wireless inear headphones in total. If you want the best audio quality, you truly don‘t want to go for wireless headphones of any kind. If you want great inear sound quality and don‘t really care about a neckband and NoiseCancelling, get the 1More Tripple Driver Bluetooth at just above 100$. (To my knowledge, they‘re available with ANC for additional 20-30$), but forget about the convenience of AirPods on the go;)
I've had the AirPod Pros for many months now, and just watched this for the fun of it. And man! This was by far the best review I've ever watched. @@lujorom9172 yes, they have great overall sound. The ANC and transparency modes are great as well. I was surprised by the amount of bass the Pro’s can put out. I would recommend that you get them.
I'm watching this after having just recently bought the 1st gen Airpods, and I gotta say while I would LOVE the features the Pro makes available I still don't feel bad about buying the 1st gen Airpods simply because I wanted them as an option for not having something in my ear canal. That's the feature that sells me on the 1st gen, and kills all of my interest in the Pro. Also before anyone says "but you need that for the Pro's features to work", I understand that. It doesn't make the Pro any more appealing to me when the #1 thing I personally like about the Airpods is sacrificed for it.
@@joeysludge4041 Okay? That's your thing then. I don't like having things in my ear canal, and therefore the AirPod Pros do not work for me. It's as simple as that.
Watching the whole video wearing AirPods Pro. As an audio engineer myself you freaking NAILED the noise cancellation demonstration so well. You spent a lot of time tweaking and making sure it sounds right and it shows!!!
As an audiophile i think the sound quality of the airpods pro sounded really good. Its not like audiophile grade headset but its good enough to non audiophile ppl. Our standard of sound quality isn’t their lvl, but the sound it produced is actually loved by a lot of audiophile. Crisp meds and good enough bass and high makes it perfect, not too warm and bass heavy but perfect for variety of types of ppl from teenage to old. Some headphone (audiophile grade) sounded very technical which is not everyone can appreciate like how good the bass how detailed it is. You just need a balance signature suitable for everyone. Bdw good to hear you mentioned KZ they’re one big player in chifi industry. I actually owned a lot of their products its fascinating how good a $20 iem really than expensive brand like 64audio can offer.
I don’t understand. What makes an audiophile? Like are y’all a different race or something? Us non audiophiles could never understand what truly good sound is. It seems a bit narcissistic to me. I mean we all have ears. And the ability to determine what sounds good and what doesn’t.
@@EyeForKnowledge. it’s literally just experience. what sounds good to a person who uses a $1000+ audio system will be different on average compared to what sounds good to a person who uses the earbuds that are included with their phone
0:53 you missed the opportunity to say “from my iPhone to my *Mac* , to my iPad and *back* , without lifting a finger... but they still don’t come in *black* “
They’re the most comfortable true wireless buds I’ve worn. So much thought went into usability and you can really tell, but yes: the sound isn’t great and I can’t get them to stay in. Not sure how a design that ensures they stay in wasn’t also prioritized.
Best headphone review I’ve seen, the overall quality of your videos has been going up recently, this is my favorite yet. In all regards, not just picture quality. Nice job to you and your employee(s)
Great review - spot on. Wish I had seen this before I bought the Sony’s... I sent back my Sony’s for the Air Pod Pros - for all the reasons you’ve mentioned plus one more you didn’t. Yes, the Sony earbuds dropped connections all the time, didn’t switch devices well, had weird battery charge/gauge issues, and are not the most comfortable. But the sound was so great (until you turn on the NC) over everything else! But, the dealbreaker for me was how BAD the microphones on the Sony’s are! People on calls couldn’t hear me - even in a quiet room - had to revert to the phone more than once. I could’ve put up with a lot of issues from the Sony’s for that sound - but not being able to take phone calls isn’t one...
That’s what I like about Apple, they generally get a lot of things right all around and rarely forget on something like microphone sensitivity. Probably cause they have so many employees
ah... i'm having the same issue, got the sony's, am really happy with them, but am about to send them back, because of the microphone issue, plus i guess siri and pairing works a bit more seamlessly with airpods (although it havent found it bad with sony), still, do prefer the bigger not white case(harder to lose so easily, and the white i find cheap and ugly) and the larger battery life...
I had the exact same problems with my Sony WF1000-XM3s. The people on the other side of the call say I sound like a Robot and I have the take them out for calls. I could forgive them if they cost £50 but certainly not for their price. Amazon have insisted on a "repair" rather than a refund twice and they're still not working. I've sent them back for a third time… Not the usual Amazon service I'm used to. I love the sound of the Sony's but they're completely unreliable. I tested the Air Pods Pro last week and they were technically flawless!
"Willing to sacrifice performance for convenience" - you hit the nail on the head there. For me, the connection stability and multi-device connection are the killer features. No other wireless headphone is anything like as accomplished as the AirPods Pro in this respect. This makes them a no-brainer as commuting headphones for me. Great review, thanks!
The convenience is amazing right? The biggest one for me personally though is how they fit, original AirPods are just terrible and majority of other brands are way too bulky to warrant extended wearing times, but the AirPods pro are absolutely spot on, that combined with the convenience I’m finding I’m listening to more music than ever despite owning superior sounding headphones/earbuds.
@@RockBandRS I'm switching them between an iPhone and a Windows 10 PC, and they're working great on both, easily switching back and forth. The microphone quality is terrible on Windows, but I'm not sure whose fault that is: Windows is limiting the mic to 8khz.
Do the air pods pro have average sound quality? That’s the only thing I worry about. I have beats X just now and although there not truly wireless the sound quality is great!
After watching endless reviews and mulling over it for a few weeks I decided to buy the standard airpods with wireless charging. Picked them up at target for $159.99. Would’ve loved to have the extra features of the pro but not sure they were worth the extra 90 bucks for me personally. Watching this video after the fact almost makes me regret it but time will tell. So far so good.
that ending had me in pieces, top video, love that, love you keep it up Quinny. I'd love to see a performance on a budget hackintosh video sometime too if you'd be interested. you've done one's based on size and slickness which were great, but or someone like me, a photography student dealing with surprisingly rough workloads something like that would be incredible. big up!

(on 80% volume and up)
I have to go down to 40 to cause it to rattle and only once I've passed 120hz it stops to rattle.
I know 80% volume is A LOT but noise canceling or transparency will cause them to rattle no matter the volume.
Thanks for the great review!
I would consider myself an Audiophile aswell, using my Beyerdynamics DT 1990 Pros as my everyday headphones at home (Schiit Magni/Modi Stack)
Since my old bluetooth earphones somehow got technical issues after just 5 months, I went for the AirPods Pro for all the convenience, especially since I‘m using an iPhone, iPad and MacBook Pro and can flawlessly switch between devices.
When I first plugged them into my ears I was blown away, because I was in the middle of a busy train station and suddenly had complete silence listening to music (for the first time not even being capable of hearing my own steps, that didn‘t work using overears before) whilst not even feeling any headphones and being sure they fit😂
All in all, great review, fair point regarding sound quality, it‘s not yet comparable to wired InEar quality, but considering technical complexity of fitting all this into such incredibly tiny inears together with a reliable battery they are definitely the best go-to completely wireless inear headphones in total.
If you want the best audio quality, you truly don‘t want to go for wireless headphones of any kind. If you want great inear sound quality and don‘t really care about a neckband and NoiseCancelling, get the 1More Tripple Driver Bluetooth at just above 100$. (To my knowledge, they‘re available with ANC for additional 20-30$), but forget about the convenience of AirPods on the go;)
Absolute most informative AirPods Pro review.
Thank you!

I've had the AirPod Pros for many months now, and just watched this for the fun of it. And man! This was by far the best review I've ever watched. The noise cancellation demos that you did were great, and very helpful for someone that would be looking to buy the Pros, but are on edge about how good the noise cancellation is. What about the sound quality though? I’m like this close to buying AirPods but I really want a good sound for the money
@@lujorom9172 lol, did you even watch the video? I love my Pro’s. I wouldn’t trade them for any other wireless earbuds. They are a huge improvement over the regular AirPods
@@unrealorbit yeah but I don’t care if they’re an improvement over the regular AirPods, I wanna know if they’re good earbuds regardless. I don’t have the regular AirPods so i don’t care if they’re better than them, I just wanna know if I get a good sound overall. Not in comparison.

Quinn: "I'm an audiophile that loves the original Airpods"
Juan Bagnell: *existence made known*
I'm watching this after having just recently bought the 1st gen Airpods, and I gotta say while I would LOVE the features the Pro makes available I still don't feel bad about buying the 1st gen Airpods simply because I wanted them as an option for not having something in my ear canal. That's the feature that sells me on the 1st gen, and kills all of my interest in the Pro. Also before anyone says "but you need that for the Pro's features to work", I understand that. It doesn't make the Pro any more appealing to me when the #1 thing I personally like about the Airpods is sacrificed for it.
I don't buy your argument

I’ll stick with my nuratrue’s lol
I don’t understand. What makes an audiophile? Like are y’all a different race or something? Us non audiophiles could never understand what truly good sound is. It seems a bit narcissistic to me. I mean we all have ears. And the ability to determine what sounds good and what doesn’t.
@@EyeForKnowledge. it’s literally just experience. what sounds good to a person who uses a $1000+ audio system will be different on average compared to what sounds good to a person who uses the earbuds that are included with their phone

Earphones with ANC really have bad microphone quality
Red Hood the air pod pros are pretty good
That’s what I like about Apple, they generally get a lot of things right all around and rarely forget on something like microphone sensitivity.

That's the one upside to a walled garden. Everything seamlessly works in tandem.
It's not convenient. You need to turn on Bluetooth than go to settings and connect them from there.
