Erm..because Apple expect you to backup important stuff to iCloud, in which case it will be accessible even if the iPad is lost or damaged beyond repair 🤷♂️

I was just given an ipad that a neighbor received from a friend and he forgot the password. He was going to throw it out so I said I would take it to experiment with. Oddly there is no label saying what model it is? It is dead so I guess I need to get a charger off of ebay or amazon. He said it was still under his friends account so I don't know what that means. I just want to use it for maybe arduino or raspberry pi projects so I won't be online with it. Can this ipad be used for anything. I'm just starting research on getting this up and running.

Daniel, I did the one minute, the five minutes and the 15 minutes. Now I got a one hour wait time. I even tried doing it with the computer holding the home button and power button but could not get anything to pop up on the computer when connected. It's a iPad 9.5 x 6.5/8 OD.

When I try to restore it tells me the iPad needs to be updated to the latest software version. So I click update and it then tells me that I need to have the latest version of iTunes. Ok, so I click help then check for updates in iTunes and it tells me I already have the latest???

One of many reasons why I'll always see Apple products as inferior to other brands that use Android or any other format. Apple is to exclusivity as the U.S is to imperial measurements. They both want to be unique but end up giving everyone a hard time. You can't even view your pictures without Apple having to confirm your identify.
Never understood why people claim Apple products to be user friendly when literally everything you want to do requires extra steps and things like resetting your passcode or product requires another device to do so as opposed to a simple button prompt. Abysmal and overpriced products that are the epitome of the word "pretentious".
