Sorry I'm a but behind with replies lately 😅 you can use a shorter handguard but due to how the dpms and r1 outer barrel are made it's not really possible to change them. Maybe with some work but I can't say it will work well and hold itself together
@rah5500 unfortunately no you can't, in crosmans infinity amount of wisdom they made it so it only fits one way. Do you have the tiny metal spacer on it with a rubber ring? If not that's the issue. When they are on it should space it out just enough to put the muzzle on correctly
@Replica-Airgun-Lovers I managed to turn it slightly just a second ago lol. I unscrewed the 2 screws that hold the outer barrel, and turned using an extended barrel attachment and placed the screws back in. Jobs a gooden. I'm going to order a forward assist kit to install. After that I'll probs get a magnifier for my scope and a cheap PEQ. I won't be doing anything after that lool. Spent as much as the gun on attachments haha
I used a grinder mate, I have done a tutorial video on how to change the stock and handguard if you're interested in it. It's in my main video under "how to" playlists
No problems at all mate i just wanted to do something different to everyone else and this looked good with the build i was doing at the time. I tend to do a new build now and again, especially if i didn't like it to start with. So much potential with the dpms its a wicked platform to work on.. i have been rebuilding this rifle lately with random parts and did 4 builds for people to see how simple it is
Pretty much mate. Some just need a hole either side for screws to fit in place. I haven't found one yet that didn't fit and i have changed a few times already

You can also buy front plates and find a way to keep it where you want it

Would this work for a 5.5 inch mlock handguard , possibly if i shortend the inner barrel as well ?

Can i rotate the outer shroud (underneath the hand guard) 180° and screw back in? When i screw my M16 muzzle in it is upside down lol. Kinda annoying

where did you get the rifle barrel extension???
It come from aliexpress but amazon do them. It's just an airsoft barrel
Have you had any problems since you changed the handguard or you prefer to change it out I just ordered an m-lok 9” handguard
