    Hey Matt, thank you for the video. I went through and reported as spam all of the spam comments that are from "text me....). The same spam bots that have been hitting YT pretty regularly. They are getting craftier. They were all identical comments, and partially taken from a comment you had made, but added contact me for a prize.... I appreciate the info and knowledge you share with us!

    Thank you for distinguishing between smallmouth and largemouth behaviors. When they go to different spots, there’s a better chance that a trail will get me close to one of those places.

    Great video Matt! There are not many videos on tidal water bass fishing. While my passion is lake fishing, I fish with a group here in SC that loves to fish the coastal rivers May-Jan. Feb-Apr, we fish Santee Cooper. So I enjoy the river content.
    When you say backwater, on small coastal rivers, would that be the backs of small creeks, marinas that are built on coves, coves off rivers than run up into golf courses, etc.? It’s not easy to find flats or bays on our rivers. You can find some shallow water lakes, rice field ditches or coves with boat docks, but it’s not like what you can find on the Mississippi River.

    Thanks Matt. I fish tidal rivers with large and smallmouth. I also agree with all yo
    u said. The only fish that like current more than smallies are strippers. Only the coldest water makes the smallmouth bail from current. Largemouth may leave it a little sooner than you suggested ,but I get the point.
    I love fall fishing, if I could get someone to skim the leaves off the water it would be heaven.

    Matt, thanks for your efforts in producing these videos. I am a subscriber and try to take your comments and suggestions and apply them to my area water. However, my guess is that the fish here in our rivers and lakes of Middle Tennessee are a little different in their fall habits. It's late Sept. now and the water temps are still in the 70's. Our lakes and rivers, as a rule, do not freeze (no ice). That said, it is always a challenge to consistently stay on bass in the fall (the most challenging time of year for me!!). Can you comment further on tips that might help us a little further south find and follow the bass in the fall.

    Man its been tuff fishing on the lake the last two outings. Throw any and. everthing at them. Including the most popular fall baits. Plus some others that I just have real confidence in. But the on and off rain and high wind I think has the most to do with it. Atleast here for me. I've been wanting to hit the river but obviously with the rain comes chocolate milk and high fast current

    Great info Matt , I fish my home River and the deepest spots in the river are probably 10 feet tops and in winter they seem to disappear? I catch a lot of Smallmouth and I probably got about 20 - 19” plus and one PB 21-3/4 this season. It really perplexes me that they kind of disappeared ? I cover about 20 miles of river and still haven’t found there winter holes lol. I fish the south branch of the Raritain River in NJ and this time of year I go to the Delaware because my local river just shuts off? When the water hits 55 degrees. Some day I will find that winter hole ! Lol thanks for sharing 👍

      It is not me. Ignore anyone telling you that youve won something. I announce all winners in a video and will never reach out to a viewer to tell them they won in any other way or ask for someone to pay for anything or any shipping.

    • @peterhing3608
      @peterhing3608 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MattStefanFishing Thanks Matt. I figured that as they kept texting me for my shipping address. Even talked via text with me and sent me a picture of a fishing kayak I supposedly won. I don't think I have ever watched you talk about a fishing kayak and why would you give it away when you could give it to your children one day. Thanks Matt and great content as always. Someone hacked your picture and name and replied to my message to you from the last video so not sure how you can protect your content. I ended up googling the area code of the number and it originates in Missouri so knew it was not you immediately. Crazy world man. Be well and safe and keep the great content!

    I am a riverbank fisherman. The Nashwaak river mouth where I fish has a bridge over the island. I fish the east side of the river From the riverbank to the island is 230 feet. There is a weed bed just off the main bank with some small bushes. Around the bridge pillar base there is wood. When the river is low I can see a sand bar that is a couple of feet below the surface and over half way to the island. I haven't caught any smallmouth this year sofar. People been catching them on the west side of the river. The Saint John River at the Carleton park boat ramp on the north side to the south side of the river is
    4, 348.59 feet wide. On the map I have on my laptop I can measure how wide the river is and lakes plus how long the lakes are any where. I can measure the ocean from coast to coast

      @@MattStefanFishing This is the first year that I haven't caught any smallmouth in the Nashwaak River. I tried softbaits to top water baits. Our rivers freeze over during the winter months. We had low water level last fall and during the winter. When spring break up came I think the ice might have dragged some of the cover from the Nashwaak. I fish during the low water level where I can see bottom from the bridge when I am walking to the other side of the river. It has a gravel bottom with some grass bed and a little brush pile about 50 feet out from the bank up river from the bridge about the same distance. I have caught many smallmouth from the brush pile by standing on the riverbank.

    The majority of my fishing is on the grand river. Been throwing jerkbaits, swim baits and spinnerbaits a lot. Been trying to stick to natural colours. Bluegill and shiners are the most common up here in Ontario. Been doing well with all of them. I’ve also been throwing an 8 inch max scent kingtail. I’ve have more success with those than any other bait. Pulled two 3 pound smallies out the other day within 4 flips. They can’t resist a big ole worm. Haha.

    Thoughts on rivers that flow into lakes or flowages. Do the bass migrate back into the lakes and flowages or hunker down in the deeper pools?

    • @MattStefanFishing
      @MattStefanFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      depends on how deep the river is. But if its a smaller river most will migrate downstream into the lake
