Hey these videos are really great. I’m just getting back into the series and tried the first drive rush combo. At first a bit hard with the timing but then I got it down. Then I put cpu on level 6 Ken and just practiced countering anything he whiffed and soon I was nailing it everytime, so I think that’s exactly what I should be doing so thanks.

Played against a ryu that would dash then DR crouch mp after light tatsu mid screen. It hits meaty wether they back roll or stay in place. Also after light tatsu in the corner whiff crouch mp then stand fierce hits meaty, perfect frame kill

@@HageanFQ right now I’ve been stuck at plat 1 so I’ve took a break from the game. Watching my games back, learning go to combos in different situations, learning matchups, and watching others is what’s helped me a lot. Most importantly, just play/practice so you gain experience to learn from your mistakes. Focus on learning one thing at a time and have fun.

As a Chun-Li main, I feel like people are REALLY underselling Ryu. Out of all my matchups, Ryu is definitely one of our hardest matchups we have. I feel if people can stay the course and learn Ryu's true potential, he can be a problem in the future for the meta. Dont listen to the bullshit tier lists sayijng you guys are low tier. Trust me, in 6 months to a year, you guys are gonna be dominating EVO. Mark my words.

Thank you, drive rush after light tatsu allows you to grab or go for meaty normals whether opponent recovers in place or backwards. Medium tatsu will not allow you to grab if opponent recovers backwards and presses light punch. Mentioned in the video

Does Ryu have set ups to get good Oki and a charge at the same time? The "best" thing I could think is combo into OD Donkey kick and then charge, but might as well just do a proper follow up since you are losing a lot of damage for that charge.
I play Zangief (main), Guile (secondary), Chun-Li, and Dee Jay. Dang I needed a guide like this….just gotta apply it to my characters. Planning to play some Terry when he drops!
@@cerebral89m Mh I think the simplest way is just following different youtubers, they generally cover all of the changes. Rooflemonger is pretty nice for beginners and newcomers I think and he always does very extensive patch breakdowns.

Hello, ryu player at plat3 here. Thanks for the guide really useful. The first combo is really useful however if I set up as a punish for od DP, they usually got airborne after the first hit ( which cause crumple state) , can you explain what I am doing wrong ?
I don't know why good ryu players always end their combo with tatsu for oki, why can we just end combos using heavy dp? It has 29f advantage as well and I think it is enough for oki. Do I miss counting something?
What combo should I go for when I counter DI? For some reason in training mode HK>HP sometimes works when I do the DI counter training preset but I don’t think it’s supposed to combo in that scenario

Bro I think you should improve your understanding of fighting games. It is a guess for someone who hits you with ex dp they are guessing you will continue your pressure
Solar plexus is a bit dangerous in this game because it is slow and DI vulnerable but it is good to mix it up in between your block strings just o get plus frames and regain your turn. I have a video called Ryu auto whiff punishing tool that uses solar plexus

@@eatdahlyou gotta make adjustments. Combos are what you implement when you land the hit. If someone is turtle blocking in the corner you have to open them with other stuff first. Mix in grabs, drive impact etc
if you want a 5 minute video showing the combos and not giving you all the ins and outs and having you understand why to use them and why not to use them I can do that. But it will not benefit people who are actually trying to improve.

After EX tatsu in the corner you can do denjin charge and still have oki

For the first combo , Is there an optimal replacement for bHK? That move doesn’t exist on modern control’s unfortunately

You don’t get oki and corner carry from backrise if you use dp

No if you play the default controls it will be there, you just have to let go of the directions for it to come out
